Has anyone hacked Dresden or Fate for Neverwhere?  Curious to see what's been done.

DFRPG / Adapting Lev Grossman's Magicians to Dresden/Fate

So the first season has finished, and there's 3 books out.  Has anyone tried adapting the show to Dresden?

I can't really remember if they have any specified abilities to be honest (changing into animals is covered a little off the top of my head, one character as a project tries to figure out how to survive an arctic trek as well).  The books are more about being a magician in modern-day society than the magic itself.  Here's the trailer anyway.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QS_20JPaEnA

DFRPG / Statting Lev Grossman's Magicians books

With the third book now out, and the TV adaption out soon, has anyone statted the characters at all?

To briefly sum it up, a teenager about to go for university interviews is offered a place at Brakebills, a school for training magicians. It's an adult Harry Potter, no Voldemort, but possibly even nastier.

DFRPG / What do your wizards do for a living?
« on: March 07, 2015, 10:49:22 AM »
From the books, we have a private investigator, the Wardens, council politico's, and Mort the entromancer.  I'm curious to see what your wizards do.  Presuming their trained by the Council and then let go, what jobs have your wizards done?  What do they do for a living?  A recent episode of Grimm had a bounty hunter killing Wesen who were showing their existence to humans, a sanctioned killer paid to clean up magical messes is one I can think of, as long as they act within the laws.

I'm still learning the system, but I'd be interested in seeing what people come up with for the book characters (another fan of the series).
The Aldermen are probably the easiest to set up, since they seem to have a common set of powers, so an Alderman template might be a good start.

Any thoughts to stating the characters from the show anyone?

Did have an idea for a con game a few months ago, but real world got in the way (and now again).  PC's I did have idea's for though, included;

Supernatural fixer (mortal), someone who sources rare ingredients.
Werewolf PI, using heightened senses to pick up clues etc.
Occult book dealer (mortal), non magic-user, but in the know.
Changeling stage magician, uses illusions to help enhance their magic tricks.
Professional researcher/hacker (mortal)
Street-rat pyromancer,

DFRPG / Dresden Files one-shot/convention games
« on: December 01, 2014, 11:04:32 PM »
I asked this a few months ago, but didn't word it too well.  Long story short, has anyone made up one-shot Dresden Files games and characters which would be suitable for a convention game, or a demo in a shop?  A setting, full cast of demo PC's etc.  Preferably ones that are approachable for those who haven't played the game or are not familiar with the setting.

I've flicked through the 3 casefiles, so they might be useful, but not sure how well they translate to game demos.  I'm still learning the system as well, so something that's easy on the GM is a bonus.

One setting I can think of is similar to one of the early books, where Dresden is invited to a party, the one with the Dragon in it.  It's one of the problems with having possibly extremely powerful, or destructive characters around, that they might just decide to kill everyone around them.  There has to be some way to prevent that.  To that end, maybe the party where Dresden is introduced as the Winter Knight?  Cause offense, and you'll be killed on the spot by someone far, far more powerful than you.

Anyone suggest small games that can be ran as one-offs, not including the 3 that Evil Hat have?

DFRPG / Stat your cities
« on: July 13, 2014, 08:28:34 AM »
That's it really.  An exercise in creating and stating your city of choice (I'm up in Aberdeen, Scotland, and I'm mostly interested in UK cities myself, but I'm interested in other places).  In an exercise of learning the system, I might try writing up one of the locations for The Secret World MMO.

DFRPG / What's happening in your game then?
« on: July 10, 2014, 08:53:21 PM »
Just that really.  I'm interested in what characters people are running, how they've done their city, and what plots are being woven, but I'm sure there's a lot of people who are interested as well.

Well, after my exams, I'll try to stat up a pure-mortal hacker (I'm thinking a cross between Lost Girl's Kenzi and Lisbeth Salander from Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), and a Saytr private detective.  I'm assuming that pure mortal would be easier to stat up.  The saytr (I do like Changeling The Dreaming), not so sure.  From what I could tell with the powers, it's mostly illusion powers they have?
