DFRPG / Magic Systems
« on: June 26, 2014, 09:11:08 PM »
I was wondering about the people here, appart from DFRPG, what's your favourite magic system? In what game do you enjoy playing a mage?
(Or could it be that DFRPG is /not/ your favourite system :P?

DFRPG / MageKnight help
« on: June 15, 2014, 07:33:20 AM »
I'm trying to make a spellcaster that's both proficient at magic and swords. Submerged level. But I can't get the mix right. So far I've thought of

transcendend swordmanship/unlimited blade works
a stunt to replace weapons and athletics with Discipline Lore

or

crafting
inhuman speed/something
the same stunt

Any input is appreciated.

DFRPG / Wards and Evothaum
« on: June 11, 2014, 05:28:52 PM »
Would an evothaum ward still need a threshold to be built upon?
Can you use the Eastern philosophy "My body is a temple" to put a ward on yourself?

DFRPG / Evothaum question
« on: June 10, 2014, 08:45:56 PM »
Do thaumaturgy specialisation bonuses carry over to evocation spells when you have evothaum? For example, a wizard with 5 Discipline, Conviction and 2 at summoning Complexity, Control. How much stress would he need for a Power 7 summoning evocation?

DFRPG / Vampire Powers
« on: April 14, 2014, 09:28:22 PM »
I think I saw somewhere a custom change/overhaul on the hunger system, but I can't find it now. Can someone provide me a link ?

On a related note, has there been a vampire caster that can cast spells from his hunger/physical track? It seems an interesting concept to explore.

DFRPG / Ritual (Crafting)
« on: February 26, 2014, 08:50:57 PM »
Serious question. Since everyone can make enchanted items, shouldn't a character who takes       [-2] Ritual (Crafting)       have some sort of bonus? I mean, one refresh looks kind of wasted.

DFRPG / A new spin at crafting
« on: February 21, 2014, 09:20:53 AM »
I woke up having an idea. What if you used crafting with a new approach? For example, use it like a maneuver to put a tag on someone, like making a ward amulet and giving it to someone? Or enchanting a gun so that it shoots lightning? I just thought of it, so details are not clear, but I'm looking for feedback to see how feasible it is.

EDIT: Extra idea: reskin the biomancy theme. Instead, it works on inanimate things.

DFRPG / How's your Wizard

A rookie question. You roll a practitioner. Usually you have two spots for the highest skills. Which two do you put from Conviction, Lore, Discipline. (I'm asking both for advice and your personal preference)

DFRPG / Casting Curses In Battle
« on: January 18, 2014, 06:54:31 PM »
Inspired by the hundreds of games out there, is there a way to cast curses in battle or is Evothaum the only way? I was thinking about taking a modified entropy element named "Curses" in Evocation, for example. Any ideas?

DFRPG / Golems Are Great
« on: January 02, 2014, 01:22:31 PM »
I am thinking a concept for a spare character. I would make him a Golemomancer. How should I spec him? Does crafting cover him or must I invent a new field of thaumaturgy, golemomancy?

Next are the golems themselves. How would you stat them? I have an idea for creating them. Use the enchanted items "Golem Heart", where frequency means how many times you can deploy them before they need recharge (if you treat it as potion it stays indefinitely but once destroyed it must be replaced), but what determines their power, appart from power=Lore? What skills and powers can they have?

Also, method of animation. Do I treat the heart as a battery or do I bind an earth spirit, for example, inside it?
