What do people think about combining effects via more shifts, rather than one massive effect?  Is that one of those things discussed to death or is there a consensus on that (I can see action economy balance issues, unless you also allow a high result non-magic maneuver to attempt two maneuvers at once...although again, why wouldn't you be able to do a supernatural strength punch that sacrificed some shifts of damage to put a maneuver on somebody....similar to the fuego suggestion above)?
That... could actually work. Instead of a weapon 4 spell, you do a weapon 1 spell which inflicts a tag if it hits. That could represent spells that cause poison effects.

It's 4 slots if you have neither, 2 slots if you have one of evocation/thaumaturgy, none if you have both.

A player in a game I hosted was curious about whether or not Sponsored Magic came with items, and if not whether he could get them with Refinement. I told him yes to the latter but wondered; can someone experienced with their flavor of Sponsored use Refinement beside this. They don't really have elements aside from our and don't have bonuses afterall. The book didn't offer an explanation that I could find.
I don't have the specific page, but sponsored magic gives item slots, as long as you don't have evocation/thaumaturgy. Your second question isn't explored in the rules, so it's up to the GM.

Why no one thinks of the obvious solutions? Magic evolved again and changed its quirk. It doesn't hex anymore. You are the first wizard of this generation. Your magic has a different side effect ( maybe it gives you warts, changes the weather, produces static, anything).

Social items?!?

I'm seeing you in whole new light, Taran.

Google luck. Being in a position of power against a dragon.  I'm not saying it's impossible but probably pretty rare
It's all about attitude.

According to the rules, you can take down a dragon purely with Intimidation, without needing to spend FP (mental attack and all)

The situation GM vs Players is wrong by default.

How does turbocharge work? It doesn't specify in the rules.

Actually, the extra benefit for Kemlerian is the free refinement on Necromancy.

I don't know that I'd let you start up a dialogue mid-fistfight, but i'd certainly let you use Intimidation to maneuver or block, Deceit to feint, and Rapport/Deceit to distract. It would be on a case-by-case basis, for me.
If there is one thing movies and anime taught me is that you can start a monologue mid-flight and still have time for tea before you land a punch.

You should probably also ask and about specialisations, where the cost isn't different (there's no offensive, defensive in specialisations).

Intimidation is a legal mental attack. The rest are subject to GM. Theoretically, it can work if the GM allows it.

Indeed. I meant the whole package. Sorry for not being clear.
