DFRPG / Re: How's this for a city concept?

White Court Vampires were created by man. They rebelled. They  evolved. And they have a plan.

Have em accidentally assassinate the Archduke of Austria.   ;D ;D

There's a biological weapon facility that a bunch of bad guys want to rob for some nice terror weapons.  The PC's interfere, and the most secure building gets blown up, releasing a virus that the bad guys were never after because it was too dangerous.

The new virus is 99% lethal - possibly turning the corpses into Zombies/Ghouls/Vampires/whatever.

Options:
- Entire world dies (except those who hide in the NN)
- Other countries drop nuclear weapons on the US to contain the virus.  US retaliates.
- US drops nuclear weapons on its own cities to contain the virus.

Denarians are always looking to bring about Death and Despair.

What if Nic/Tessa had a plot to blow up a low-level nuclear weapon in a major NY city (Chicago would be ideal, but Cincinati is certainly an option), and planned to get it blamed on terrorists.

Instead, PC actions causes the US government to think that the Chinese (OR the Russians or even Iran) are behind it, causing them to retaliate by launching a single Minuteman missile at a "non-civilian" target (powerplant/ military base/ Nuclear power plant).  Then, a series of ever-escalating responses ensues (over the course of 48 hours - military bases, a major city or two, then Taiwan, then everything), until WWIII is officially started (and over two minutes later).

You could have the PCs running around trying to stop things from escalating any further, and instead messing things up worse.

Bonus: If China is the "big bad", you could have the Jade Court involved.

What happens when you open a portal to the NN?  Is it moving through the NN as the ship moves, or does it stay fixed?

Agreed.  People here are generally pretty nice.

Hugs to all!

DF Reference Collection / Re: Questions Specifically for Jim, Part 3
« on: October 15, 2010, 12:10:46 PM »
Not sure if I posted this here before, but I was really hoping to ask Jim this one had I met him at ComicCon.

It can easily take a frozen turkey over a minute to fall from an airplane flying at 30,000 feet, so was there a falling turkey already that the entropy curse diverted at the last minute, or does it actually somehow reach back in time to create the desired outcome at the right moment?

I saw you, Knnn, but didn't get a chance to say hi! You cruised by the D&D tables while I was goblin whacking, and I saw the noose around your neck. My table thought I was quite odd when I said, "Nicodemus!" out of nowhere!  :D

It was interesting because the visible part of the costume basically consisted of ordinary gray and black clothes and a noose, making it hard for people to realize I was actually in costume.  I got quite a few amusing double-takes from people who finally realized what I had around my neck.

I didn't meet anyone not on the forum who actually recognized me as Nicodemus.  I mainly got comments in the form of "Don't kill yourself.  Spiderman 4 will be coming out soon."

Spooky!

I love the "Oh Nos" on Priscellie's face.

Here are a few of my pics.  Unfortunately, I couldn't make it to the dinner.

Butters accepts his destiny, while Nicodemus looks on with approval.

Harry finally joins up with the Nickelheads (I tempted him with **really good** chocolate).

Ulios and his awesome Jedi crew.

Esperacchius as Harry as Jayne:  "I call her Vera".

Any chance of the trivia questions being posted?

No scheduled appearances, no showing up at con tomorrow.  Sorry.

 :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

I guess I'll still make it today, having bought the tickets and all.  If you're there today, keep your eyes open for a dejected-looking Nicodemus.

*boggles*  1A15 is TINY.  Occupancy of 100?  Better line up early.

Tiny but Fierce!

(Just had to say this).

DFRPG / Re: First Law and World Hopping PCs

I'd just like to point out that White Court Vampires and Ghouls are apparently fair game under the First Law, as well as playable characters.

Calendar Event Discussion / Re: Jim at New York Comic Con - Oct 8-10, 2010
« on: September 26, 2010, 05:04:27 PM »
He doesn't have anything officially scheduled.  He might snoop around the con as a fan for a bit.  I imagine he'll play it by ear.

...I'm still willing to loan my weekend pass to anyone who wants to bring a friend to the con to see Jim on Friday/Saturday on in exchange for getting Jim to sign one of my hardcover books, and (a reasonable attempt to get from Jim) the answer to the question "How has Harry explained all those neatly arranged, but heavily used XXX romance novels in his lab to Molly, and does she believe his explanation?"
