My Guess for the Spy
Bayard is the spy.
1. He himself says that he is "a viper that plays every angle to his advantage."
2. Like Ransom, Bayard offered Grimm a job to get him away from Habble Landing.
3. The only hole in my theory is Bayard coming to save the Predator. I'm guessing the other two ships he was with had loyal captains and he actually is Grimm's freind. Thus Bayard couldn't save the Itasca without blowing his cover, so he made sure the ship was unusable.
4. Abigail is most likely his handler. She has been mentioned too much not to show up in a later book.
I think I favor Rook for this. He appears to be more of a deal under the table while appearing all spit and polish aboveboard. Cant get what he wants normally, lowball someone. That doesn't work, threaten. That doesn't work, oh well. Guess I'll have to wait for my Auroran friends to show.
The end battle did it for me. Token show up to broadside the Itasca then promptly flee back under cover. After one initial exchange. I can understand the Bayard route, though. I just favor Rook.
I was worried the whole book about because I was sure he was the spy or he would be dead soon
and I really liked him. In fact, he is one of my favorites. But unless we will meet the spy in the next book, I don't see other candidates (well, but he seems too stupid)
At first, I thought the spy was Benedict, because he was the only main character without a POV chapter,
but then the book continued and I don't believe it anymore.
