DF Spoilers / Is Mortimer Lindquist a Starborn?
« on: December 04, 2022, 06:14:53 PM »
Somewhen around the time of Ghost Story, I remember Jim Butcher saying that in a different world Mortimer Lindquist could have been like Harry. So is Lindquist a Starborn? Will he be a Harry-like character in Mirror Mirror?

About the nameless one. It has been shown that Harry Dresden has the ability to put a name to things. Names that stick. Off the top of my head, see the over reaction to giving a wrong - shortened name - to an angel.

Is the nameless Mr Winter in danger from Harry. Or does he crave a name from someone who cam give him a NAME?

DF Spoilers / Klaus the Toymaker
« on: June 17, 2022, 04:06:04 PM »
Waiting, I've been listening to interviews. Mr. Butcher often mentions Klaus the Toy Maker. Well, several times. But I don't remember him being mentioned in the books more than maybe once or twice in passing.
Is Klaus a real thing? Or just a red herring. Should we consider him a potential influence? Cowl?

What gives?

DF Spoilers / Gamma Sword

Wouldn't it be interesting if a medical man - and a good man - operating in the range of a genius IQ had a sword which wouldn't even hurt a human victim, but which could kill a demon bound to the victim and was in the process of killing the good human part.
Hmmmm

Speaking of equal and opposite reactions....
Harry doesn't have a nickname. His name is what he is called. Harry isn't even a diminutive.

Except for Toot Toot. Has the name Pizza Lord changed Harry?

I think that is a good point. Forgiveness and redemption are essential. Especially as none of us is truly good.
Demonreach as purgatory is very Christian. Converting enemies to friends is very ethical. Just very hard.

DF Spoilers / Re: A thought About Butters
« on: November 28, 2020, 02:50:31 PM »
Ignoring if Butters is one of the Three Kings - appropriate around Christmas - Butters has Faith, There Sword of Faith, a 140+ IQ, And an intensive introduction to the theory of magic by Bob.

Waldo Butters is capable of being more powerful than any typical Knight of the Cross. Also, all the clued-in folks know Butter is a Good Man. So he has an immense amount of trust. When he bargains or testifies, he will be believed.  In a chess analogy, he is a pawn which has crossed the board. He is in a stronger position than Harry.  I smell a set up.

DF Spoilers / A thought About Butters
« on: November 25, 2020, 11:58:40 AM »
Is Butters the first genius-level knight of the cross to have a multi year backing in wizardry as Butters does from Bob?
It seems we would have noticed such a character in history. Too early by far, but Solomon pops to mind. Could butters contain, or bottle, evil spirits?

A line in Blood Rites,
Harry:     Just plain folks? I don't even think you are human.
Kincaid:  I'm as human as you are.

Are HHWB... a trinity? Three aspects manifesting from one being? There are always three and they work as one?

DF Spoilers / Re: Mac's True Nature (spoilers for BG)
« on: October 28, 2020, 06:12:15 PM »
Such angels taught men. Wanna bet Mac taught brewing? I am convinced he is also Ethniu's ex, the father of Lug(h), the Celtic sun god. Such blood lines are known for giantism. You mentioned Goliath.

Watchers watch something. And they must report. I think of Mac as a spy or an investigator. He showed up in Chicago just before Harry.
If Mac is investigating, his appearance may be unrelated to Dresden, and related to the appearance of Nemesis and the odd occurrences which started the Dresden Files when they did and not before.
If he is watching, well, there is something that brought him there. 6'9" isn't unheard of, but it is odd for someone who's grandfather is 5'8" and who's father is not described as tall. Maggie Le Fey is 6' even. 5'10'' is the 99th percentile for women by my charts. [Butcher knows these charts: Ivy referred the her height percentile for her age.] I wonder if giantism run's in Harry's family, either from Ebenezer's wife or Malcolm's side. If Mac as a 'tripped' angel lusted after women, he may have a very personal reason for watching Dresden.

I still want to know who his grandmother, Ebenezer's wife, was. I feel we have seen her or - if she is dead - heard of her. Anastasia would have known her. She was in America.
I suspect Mac of involvement.

Since Harry has been described as NBA tall since the first book, we have grown used to it.
Harry is not a giant, but now we know there are watchers/ex-angels around, there may be giant influenced bloodlines around. And if Mac was been watching anybody....
My suspicion is that there is something about Ebenezer's wife. By now we should have had some information about her. If she is in the magic community, we may even have met her.

DF Spoilers / Why is Harry so Tall?
« on: October 07, 2020, 06:06:53 AM »
One way or another, NBA height comes down to bloodline.
Malcolm was not huge, we've sort of seen him, and there is no mention of it. Ebenezer is 2 inches below average. I make that 5'8". Thomas is 6'. Harry is, I think 6'8" or 6'9". Ethniu was 9' and a giant.
Now we have Mac who seems to be a watcher or ex-angel. There are legends that angels mating with humans begot giants. Mac seems to be Ethniu's ex.
"Sometimes Lug’s father is called Mac Cennfaelad (anglicized MacKineally or similar)"
I wonder if there is some watcher bloodline around. Mac may have had some very personal reasons for arriving in Chicago just about the time Harry did.
