The shirt had a blood splatter design, that's what I meant.  :)

Yes, that was a ton of fun last night.  And I still have fruit left over from Lou Malnati's.

(D'oh, I'm making a goofy face in the picture).

(Very glad you got home, ok, Alilisa.  I was thinking about you when that storm hit).

Heh, you got me beat on the shot since you were looking up :)  I didn't even know she was snapping the pic.  I feel like such a dork on that one.  Sorry Ali!  Here is the one she took with mine

Calendar Event Discussion / Re: Jim's 2011 Signing Tour (CONFIRMED!)
« on: July 28, 2011, 10:47:32 PM »
I have uploaded the Naperville Q&A onto YouTube.  There are three parts that run a total of about 40 minutes.  Lots and lots of great stuff here :)  Recording was done from the ground up with my Evo 3D, so the angle is a bit different than what some may be used to seeing.  The second vid started out without seeing Jim, but that is brief and I made adjustments to correct for the rest of the Q&A.

One thing I did, to make it quicker on the upload for my somewhat meager connection here in town, was to go down to 320x240 at 15 FPS.  It makes it stutter, but not much.  Audio is still great, which was the main thrust of recording it.  Without further ado, here are the links to the three videos:

Enjoy :)

Did your Recording, the voice recording, come out, MX?  Believe it or not (remember me telling you how I'd lost the one recorder and bought another, then when we arrived down there the first one was in the basket?  It happened again, I can't find the one with the recording on it!!!)

I'm glad we left when we did, I hit a horrible storm on the way back and ended up driving 30 or so mph down I-90 on the way back for quite a distance.

I'm glad you two made it back ok :)  I'll admit to being a bit concerned for you and Chiro driving back that late.  I drove pretty slow through the cruising zone to see if the rest of our lil group was hanging out, but came up with zero.

The recording came out sweet.  I played it through my bluetooth connection in the car on the way home and again through hdmi to my TV at home.  Nothing but net :)  Very loud and I didn't perceive any distortion.  The video looks really good on a 50 inch too.The problem with the sound is the speaker on the phone itself, I think.  There is a fix to it, but I have to wait to get root access to it, which is officially coming in August/September.

The only question is going to be how the compression down to an uploadable format occurs.  I want something that won't hurt the resolution much, but also isn't a PITA to upload.  ETA is still tomorrow.  I WILL get it done :)

I had an awesome time last night meeting everyone :)  I also have a vid that I am working on breaking down to put on YouTube, but I may have to step out to pick up a separate video program to shrink the files.  I'm having a bit of an issue in regards to that one little fact :-[

I'll post a couple pictures when  get that up as well, along with the any pics I have of the gang :)

There were almost 375 at last count for signing only.  I would say somewhere in the neighborhood of 450 maybe?  If you count some folks that came along for the ride maybe.

82
Wow, glad I pre-ordered when did. I thought 85 might take awhile, I'd hate to be back at 300.

Thank-you for the info regarding the registration :)

83
We are at 300 now for the signing, folks :)

I'm here at the store now.  Nobody currently on site with the book.

so, sitting here in my hotel room typing from my laptop... didn't get any footage, but AMAZING Q&A--jim was easily one of the nicest people PERIOD--minor celebrity or not. just absolutely personable, easy to talk to...

thank you for doing this, mr. butcher!
He is a pretty fricking amazing human being, isn't he?  Can't wait for tomorrow and seing him for the second time.

85
Hey...now that sounds like a much better idea to me..why didn't I think of that one!  ;D

Either that or I could let the wallpaper on my phone just be the Ghost Story cover :)

The pizzeria has Italian beef sandwiches I think.  :)

I'll be in the back of the store playing with the toys.

We could roll one of the balls there back and forth while we trade death curses or recount the ways Harry has pissed off folks.  That could speed the night through :)

Does Chiro have your phone # to get ahold of you or will you just be sprawled out in the middle of the floor holding your cell up over your head with the book held high so we recognize you, and a steak in your other hand?  *grins*

ROFL  :)  I think I'd need a thrid hand for all three of those things/ Let me correct that lil issue now.  I'll PM the both of you with it, on the chance either of you want call or text :)

88
You bringing enough to share with everyone, MX

*gives you the evil eye when you mention the steakhouse*

Oh trust me, you won't miss Chiro and I, especially with me being with Chiro, she'll be the one hiding behind the umbrella..that's really why she's bringing it. ;D

*snickers*

Hehe :)  I'm afraid there won't be much left of that particular steak.  We could all get a steak sub from subway when you all arrive :)

In fact, I may skip the steakhouse, stop at Portillos instead on the way in and let the evening play out a different way.

89
And I'll have my phone on me to check here if folks want to meet at any specific time at the store.  There isn't much in the way of places to go, but I have seen folks just sitting on the floor in there.  I might do that just to review some particular spots in this book.

My current plan is to get up there early and have lucnh at a steakhouse in the area.  Then I plan on stopping in the bookstore for a bit and probably walking around till about two or so then head back to the store.

Btw, the hat I'll have on has a skull on the front, too.  Kinda fitting as this is Ghost Story and a character whom resides in a skull is a part of the Dresden files.  Stone Cold fits on there soomewhere too, now that I think about it.
