What areas/places would you like Jim to come to for the Ghost Story tour?
I would love for him to come to North Carolina myself for a signing or something, anywhere outside the state is just too far away for mwah.
-
Vegas.
-
Tucson...oh wait ;)

Whereabouts in NC?
-
New Jersey would be cool, somewhere near the Jersey Shore. But I can be content with NYC
-

I live about an hour away from Raleigh, but I live in Johnston County out in farm country...

Oh, I used to live about an hour away from Raleigh in almost the exact opposite direction, north.

Huh, funny thing - small world.
-
Asheville, NC is a nice place to visit, lots of writers, artists, and bookstores around, and some great restaurants.

I've always liked Asheville. Lived a short hop down I-26 (Spartanburg) for 4 years and enjoyed every visit.
-
Southern New Jersey or Philadelphia would be beyond amazing. I was lucky enough to see him at the NYCC this year, but somewhere a bit closer would be fantastic.
-
Maine. Anywhere in the whole state. Or New Hampshire.
;D
-
ALBUQUERQUE. Nobody ever comes here! :'( :'( >:( >:( >:(
-
Denver.
-
Anywhere between DC and Raleigh is within the distance Mrs. Serack is willing to let me drive to a signing.
-
ALBUQUERQUE. Nobody ever comes here! :'( :'( >:( >:( >:(
Nonsense. Bugs Bunny is always passing through.

How would Charlotte do?

How would Charlotte do?
I duno if I can behave well enough to get that to fly.
-
I duno if I can behave well enough to get that to fly.
Unless my brain has chosen this moment to lose all sense of geography, that's actually closer than DC.
-
I live near Virginia Beach, the between Raleigh/D.C span would also encompass Richmond VA though.
ninja edit: Per Google maps, from my house to the DC area is 3h41min. From my house to Charlotte NC is just shy of 6 hours.
-
Was there ever anything going on in Chicago? I would attend anything there is Mr. Butcher went there.

Ah, I had misremembered your location. My bad.
-
Seems like everyone from North Carolina I meet is really smart. Is that true, are NC folks brainy?
-
Some are, some are not - we got as many smart people as we do dumb people like anyone else ;)
-
Northwest Arkansas. Home of Walmart ;-)
-
Come to my Barnes and Noble near DC. I can get them to set it up and everything! And I know a few people from neighboring stores who would be so pleased by me setting this up.
please oh PRETTY PLEASE?!?

Topic: Where would YOU like Jim to appear?
In my livingroom....

I just want to ask him some questions!!!

No, thanks. I've eaten at Burger King before. :D

I'd love Vancouver Canada. But Bellingham would be okay too. If the scheduling was right I could handle Seattle in a pinch.

Providence. That'll cover the whole of southern New England. Ok maybe Boston would be better, but we Rhode Islanders are really averse to long drives. Just so you know anything over ten minutes is a long drive to us.

Although it's possible that this post could influence things, I'm pretty sure that in one of Jim's interviews or signings or something (there's a great list of just about all of them that are on the web linked in my sig), it was stated that penguin sets up his appearances and signing tour.
-
Virginia Beach 8)
-
Austin/San Antonio. Or Houston again.
-
Worldcon 2011. Or anywhere within a 3 hour drive of Sacramento, CA, really.
-
How abouta contest to win lunch with JB. ;D
All expenses paid and anyone from round the world can enter.? - mwhahaha
-
I'm with Serack and Audiobook fan! The Virginia Beach area would be super fantastic, Richmond, VA area would be fabulous but I would totally drive to DC or Baltimore, MD. Got a grandma I can mooch a room off of in Baltimore now. And they have a Great two story B&N in the harbor (or at least they used to...been about 5 years since I was up there).

I bought a pair of killer dictionaries there, ones I still use to this day ten years later (ordinarily, I would've upgraded by now, but these were extra awesome).
-
I got to go to Inner Harbor when I was in DC for the National Young Leaders Conference back when I was 15. We were let loose and what did I do? Went to lunch at a seafood restaurant there and spent the other 2.5 hours in B&N.

That's pretty much what I did in my free time in DC. But I went to lunch at CheeseCake Factory instead of seafood. :-(

killer dictionaries , but wouldn't they murder the language ? See what I did there? Where the heck did all these Crickets come from.

Nah. Killer dictionaries are the ones that if you throw them at someone, they're big enough to kill in one shot.

Heck of am arm you got there slugger! Oh remember to wipe that book of thoroughly we don't want any....... Entanglements later.

agreed - that would be rather disgusting...

Is Williamsburg, VA close enough for some of the D.C. through NC people?

OOhhh....that looks cool. But the site doesn't have much info about everything else on it. :-\
-
Yeah, I've been hoping that that would change as it gets closer to the date. I think it's a fairly small convention, as far as those things go.

Jim.
Doesn't.
Come.
To.
VA.
Period.
THIS IS MESSING WITH MY MIND.
*Is broken, babbling, etc etc*
-
I'm thinking that even though it's a bit of a hike, we might now start planning on going.
-
Edit: Nevermind.
OMGSQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So there. So so so there!
If Jim should decide to grace us with a fan dinner I would volunteer to coordinate it.
-

I'm willing as well. Unfortunately, I DON'T know the area quite so well, being 4 hours northwest, with traffic.
-
A friend and I are hoping to come down. Maybe I'll see some of you there.
-

Well, there ARE two Burger Kings within 3 miles. :D
-
Yes, yes there are Shecky. Though If I'm not mistaken one of them I was kicked out of with some summer camp staff members.

Eh, it's right near several good restaurants and just around the corner from even more ;)
-

Interesting area, that. Because I am a lifelong addict to Waffle House, I did a quick Google Maps search for it in the area. The only one in the area has "This place has been permanently closed" noted. I have never in my life heard of a Waffle House closing except for renovation. Spooky. :D
-
I believe it was shut down for health code violations, but I can't be sure. I know some type of breakfast food place up there was shut down for that. It may have been a local pancake joint though (not IHOP).
There is also a polish Deli right near the hotel. Best Kielbasa EVER!
-

Wish there were a Bojangles nearby. They always have great sausage or bacon biscuits.
-
Ohh...That means I'll be able to get Chick-Fil-A and Sonic. ;D

We were fortunate enough here in north Jersey to get a Sonic last year. Corn dogs 'n' tots - life is good.

Waffle House in VA = den of ECKYICKYBLEGHJUSTKILLMENOW, typically.
-

I pass at least 6 on my way to Williamsburg and it's only 45 min.
-
Have bojangles right outside my school can grab some food before it starts, then head in ;)
-

Yeah, a Sonic opened in northern CT earlier this year, and I found a website where there are tentative plans for about 5 more. But I know they'll have longass lines for quite a while once they open.
-

Exactly. There's a reason that Virginians call Waffle House Awful House. Oh but there's a pancake place not far from the hotel that is ah-mazing!
-

Yup, that went on for MONTHS here. Still not easy to get in.

Name of the place? And where are the best biscuits and sausage biscuits? For I shall gorge myself on the ambrosia of the motherland.
-
Folks, let's direct all MarsCon chatter to the new MarsCon thread. Danke!
-
I personally love Burger King :P So if Jim ever decides to come to NJ/PA, I would so be down for a fan dinner at BK
-
Exactly. There's a reason that Virginians call Waffle House Awful House.
We say that in Arkansas too. Luckily, we have IHOPs.
-
St. Louis!!!! Hey, it's just a hop, skip and jump from Independence! ;D
-
On Castle ;D

That's nice and central!
-

We said that back in SC, too. But for some things, Awful House beats the snot out of IHOP. Hash browns scattered and covered - IHOP doesn't even get CLOSE to that. And the grits at WH are actually surprisingly good.
-
What is the secret to making grits good? I had them in Kentucky once, and they were just bland.
-

The secret to good grits is not to have them at a restaurant. Like cream of wheat, it's best right off the stove, at a chocolate milk consistency.
-

Yes, WH has great hash browns. But my brother in law worked there once. They only accept cash for payment, and they pay their employees in cash. That has money-laundering all over it. That's when we stopped eating there.
-
My House. :)

Waffle House? Laundering money?
:D
In all seriousness, every single WH employee I've ever encountered (and I've eaten at a LOT of 'em) has been a pleasant, smiling, genuinely cheerful person - you can't have that many people fake it that well. And that in itself tells me that they must have a much lower tendency to p*** on their employees than most of the restaurants I've been to... which makes me want to support the place as much as possible.

he needs to come to Chicago

he needs to come to Chicago
Worldcon 2012 maybe?!?!
-
Sounds great
-
Worldcon 2012 maybe?!?!
I'd be there. My best friend lives outside Chicago; she and her daughter are both Dresdenphiles.
-
I live only 2 and a half hours away so I would drive there
-
Rachel and I have tentative plans to do WorldCon in Chitown . Would be a shoe in if Jim goes makes sense when you think about it.
-
Definitely! CHICAGO!!
-
Göteborg*, Sweden
Well, hope is the last thing that leaves you.

One of these days i would actually like to meet the man. I am stationed in Missouri and it's rumored he lives a couple hours away from where i am stationed at.

He's outside KC; at every book release, he usually has at least a signing or two in the KC area. So if you're going to be around for another 6 months or so, chances are pretty good that you'll get your wish.

TAMPA, FLORIDA!!!!!!!!
Florida is a big state and many of those who live here read. It is true. Some of us read LOTS... and some of the "lots" are books featuring Mr. Dresden.
PLEASE come to Florida!!
-
I'd chime in with Orlando, FL, but if he aims for several spots in Florida with one in the central vicinity, I'd be over the moon. ;)
That, and the SDCC would be nice (went in 2009, and missed him by a year).
-
That is totally friggin awesome. I guess i have to keep sticking around for awhile for that chance.
-
Bath. UK.
... or failing that, London. Or maybe Edinburgh, in the castle (or in the caves underneath).
-
it would be nice if anchorage, ak was on the list. HUGE DF following here

I'm living in VA now, and I'm totally stoked about getting to see JB at marscon, but having been born and raised in nFL I wana add to this comment.
Not only is FL a big and populous (jeeze I hope I spelled that right) state, but for my folks in the south/central Florida area, it takes over 3 hours to leave the state on a beeline for GA. Getting to Atlanta takes much longer than that and outside FL that's the closest metro area that JB has visited that I know of. And Miami is another 2.5 hours south of where they live.
A trip to Orlando would put JB within about a 3 hour drive of several pretty big areas (Miami, the Palm Beaches, Tampa, Jacksonville, Boca, Tallahassee (a little farther), Orlando itself, and everything in between). And for many of these areas, getting outside the state is a much much longer drive.
-
Austin Texas, There is a great Barnes and Noble at the Arboretum where they do signings all the time. Also Jim can stop by the Amys Icecream and load up on Texas's best ice cream.
-
Bath. UK.
... or failing that, London. Or maybe Edinburgh, in the castle (or in the caves underneath).
Yes! London! Please, nice Mr. Butcher, you can stay at my house. Well, room. well, maybe that's even a bit generous, but... you know what? If you do come over, you might want to get youself a hotel. I've just looked around and there's about 4ft free on the floor. not even 4 sq.ft. BUT! I'll come dressed up. I have a leather duster and a cowboy hat, bought from the markets. London!
-
East Tennessee ;D
-
Tampa, orlando... im in! please ::)
-
CHICAGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Please...
-
Dude,
I will make a pot of gumbo. You and Shannon would be more than welcome in New Orleans. ;)
-
Dude,
I will make a pot of gumbo. You and Shannon would be more than welcome in New Orleans. ;)
They already have an offer from me on the table for jambalaya. Should we get together and give 'em red beans and rice? :D
-
Forbidden Planet in London: spread the word across the pond! ;D
-
Dallas / Fort Worth, Texas gets my 1st vote. Austin is within driving distance and get's the number two slot. London will get my vote too if JB meets with Guy Richie and gets the deal going to make the first Dresden movie. I'm in on the lottery for the lunch.

Heck he could do that Arlington convention center thing, James Marsters was there last time. Jim and James could sign Audio books
-
ALBUQUERQUE!!!!! He could get the entire Southwest from here!
-
CHICAGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Please...
I'd love to see him do a release-date signing in Chicago (well, the Oak Brook Borders) again. He did it for TC and SF but not Changes.
-
Again I'll say this .New zealand, preferably Auckland.
-
England, please?
-
Columbus Ohio would be great. Findlay ohio would be a miracle wrapped in bacon with cheese.
-
Indianapolis. Please?! It's not that far. And he usually goes to places in Ohio for signings, why not just stop in Indy on the way there or back? It's a nice place. I promise. :)
-
Erie, PA (but I'd be happy for Buffalo, NY; Cleveland, OH; or Pittsburgh, PA)
-
Fargo, ND.
Yeah. Where the snow lives...
He could get inspired and write a book about a Yeti. And laugh at the way these people talk... I can say that, I'm not from here... But nothing fun happens in Fargo! We have to go to Minneapolis or even further for anything resembling awesome-cool fun stuff.
There would still be snow if he came in April. He'd be just in time for the Red River flooding. Again. Ugh. We need to have a stern talk with the river and staying in its banks.
Come to Fargo! I'll bring him some lefse.
-
Tulsa, OK. And not to be too demanding, but could it not be on a weekend?? My work schedule lets me do nothing but breathe work on the weekends. :'(
-
Philly - He could come for either or both:
Philadelphia Comic Con - June17-18-19, 2011
or
PHILLY BEER WEEK!! - June 3-12
-
Philly would be awesome. Real hoagies, dude. Real. Hoagies.
-
Anywhere in New England! (preferrably in Maine but will take NE) :D
-
Anywhere in New England! (preferrably in Maine but will take NE) :D
Boston! we have better cookies and bars :D
-
:P But we have Whoopie Pies and Blueberries and Lobsta! :P
(I love Boston and would gladly go down to visit with Jim there)! ;D
-
NW AR. Fayetteville.
-
Please please please come to the St Louis area..... :D
-
I'll take Kansas City since I'm only 3 hours from there, but I'd be extra thrilled if Jim decided to come to Omaha or Lincoln, NE.
-
Boston, please!! I'd think that'd be centralized enough to make most of us New Englandahs wikked happy! It'd be pissah! (Please note that no 'r's were injured in the making of that statement - primarily because none were used. We ship them to the Miedwest so they can 'warsh their clothes with warter') Though, maybe visit another time of the year - we don't have anything on some of those KS and MO ice storms but I'd feel bad if he got snowed in...

Aha! So its you I have to thank for my constant frustration! I hate living in an area where so many brutalize simple words by adding in those extra r's where they simply do not belong. Oho you have made the list good sir.
BTW If STL isn't feasible maybe at least Jeff City rather than all the way over in KC. :D
-
Anywhere in South Carolina. I'd love to meet another one of my favorite authors.
-
Murder by the Book in Houston, TX!
-
Safe to Say he will do Murder By The Book . He has the last few book tours :)

I seem to remember the website listing an alternate price if you pay at the door so I think there is still plenty of opportunities to get in.

There's the "menu" of weekend prices.

I'm with Seriphina...please come to Indy! I would bring my mom and various others!
Indianapolis is an awesome place! Lots of places, including Chicago and Cincinnati and Dayton are within driving distance. St. Louis is within driving distance as well. I would help find place to eat for all interested. There is a TON of stuff to do here. NONE of my fav authors have ever come to Indy for signings. And based on the amount of people always in the Sci-fi areas at local bookstores there is definitely a following. Oh, please come to Indianapolis in the Spring time!
If not Indy then Dayton would be awesome cause I could go see a friend who I've been to book signings with before. She likes JB as well. Seeing her gives me excuse to shop and go out to eat! ;)
-
Sacramento, California. Central location in California, within a couple of hours of all the major northern cities.
Or, hell, anywhere in Northern California--San Francisco, San Jose, Marin, Napa, I can travel... Southern California, though, is too far and too expensive to travel to, even for Jim.
-
Priscellie,
Do you know if they ever attend the World Science Fiction Convention? It's in Reno in August this year.
-
It's early, but I think he might have noticed how very loved and popular he was at Dragon Con last year...
If he comes again, I have a feeling that the staff will realize the error of their ways and give him bigger rooms now. ;D
Atlanta, Sept 2-5, 2011.
(If not this year, then please don't make us poor dedicated southern fans wait another four years. I may not survive!)
Alternatively, anywhere in SC, the southern half of NC, or the northern half of GA would be awesome, and I'll be there with bells on.
-
I second the vote for Dragon*Con again this year. Glad I got to the signing line 3 hours early or I wouldn't have gotten in. Got to meet Fred Hicks too, which was an unexpected bonus.
Also, how about Chattanooga? A bookstore signing or one of the small sci-fi conventions in town would be awesome.
-
Somewhere in the San Francisco Bay Area please, Santa Clara County would great.
Last time Jim came CA, he hit San Diego and the LA area. I couldn't go that far, still can't.
-
Eugene, Oregon. It's only a few hours south of Portland. There's a Borders here that would be perfect for the event!
-
I'd drive to just about any place in New Jersey. Heck, I'd even make a home-cooked meal.
-
Florida.... Come for the Beach, sign a few books!
-

Yes, this.

Please Have something in chicago it's a 2 and a half hour drive but the only place around big enough for him *sigh*
-
DRAGONCON!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!!!????????!!!!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Thirded. 25th anniversary of D*C this year...should be epic.
-
Wilkes Barre, PA please!
:)
-
Any thoughts about making an appearance at Gencon in Indianapolis? The Evil Hat guys were there last year, and I'd love to play and talk about the RPG with the guy who created the source material! :D
-

He may show up, but he has stated that it is in everyone's best interest that he never play the game because he would be a GM's nightmare, think 'Day Off'. In one of the MarsCon videos he says that him playing the game would go something to the effect of:
"It works this way! I don't care what the rules say, I want to do it this way. You know what? I'm going to write that it works this way in the next book, so there!"
Yet another reason to apreciate the honesty and humility that is JB.
-
Not sure if this is the place to post this, but it would be wonderful to get Jim out of the 'States for a signing date.
Any desire to visit London, Jim?
I'll buy you a pint.
-
Make that two!
-
Let's get him pissed, kidnap him and sell him on e-bay!
-
After he's finished the books.
I'm in.
-
Hear that Jim?
You're safe until you finish the DF.
Come to London, the beer's better.
-
London, England.
Or Edinburgh, Scotland.
-
Edinburgh would be Epic.
(Although as I am geographically closer to London being in Sussex it is shooting myself in the foot a little.)
-

But he doesn't drink...BEER.
Only the tears of rabid fans!
Hey, there's an upside to the delay this year! If he does a signing stop anywhere in the midwest, I will (theoretically) have the time to make a road trip out to see him. (Gotta love the school calendar!)

-
I would love it if Jim could come to Either Madison Wi or some where near
-
Where do I want Jim to appear? In my kitchen, with a Mop, the place is filthy :D
-
Somebody say Milwaukee, WI yet?
-
Raleigh works for me. Looks like we have a quorum!
-
Anywhere in Ohio or Gen Con. (psst...Jim, come to NERO Cincinnati. We have a castle.)
-
Ah Comic Con tix are on sale right now, I don't wanna buy'em without knowing if or what day Jim was gonna go >.< They only have tix for individual days left.
-
I got my Comic Con tickets this morning (Friday & Saturday) keeping my fingers crossed that Jim will be there
-
London, England.
Or Edinburgh, Scotland.
Please? Some where in the UK would be fantastic!
Edinburgh would be Epic.
(Although as I am geographically closer to London being in Sussex it is shooting myself in the foot a little.)
Haha I wouldn't mind where in the country as I am geographically exactly half way down (or up, depending on how you look at things :P ). So yeah anywhere will do!
-
TAMPA, FLORIDA!!!!!!!!
Florida is a big state and many of those who live here read. It is true. Some of us read LOTS... and some of the "lots" are books featuring Mr. Dresden.
PLEASE come to Florida!!
SW FLorida would even be better -- for me..... ;D ;D

I'm crossing my fingers he's doing SDCC this summer.
-
I'd say chances are better of seeing Jim at a smaller event (than SDCC). I tried catching a few authors back in 2009. Had to stand in line for an hour or so and draw a ticket (winners had an "X" on it or somesuch). I didn't stand a chance.
But at other events mentioned here, it seems there's more of an opportunity to not only get an autograph and ask him a question, but to actually attend the occasional event with Jim as the honored guest. (Can't speak for all events and activities, of course.)
Aside from that, even if Jim is unable to go to SDCC, it'll still be an amazing con to attend.
-
Same here. That would be nice. ;D

Of course, the point is somewhat moot. Since they sold out of SDCC tickets in a day. Of course, last year a number of tickets were made available right before the convention, but there's no guarantee on getting them. I'm going this year, but it wasn't at all fun Saturday & required a lot more refreshing than you'd expect.

Denver!!!!!!!!!!

I would like something in California other then SDCC, seeing as how I probably wont be going to that
-
Zagreb, Croatia!!!
We do have a Sci-Fi/ Fantasy convention in April ;D
-
Orlando has MegaCon, one of the largest sci-fi/fantasy/comic/anime conventions in the Southeast. I think it's March 25-27th. It's kind of late this year; usually MegaCon is in late February, early March. It's good fun.
-
I'm with sjsharks, someplace in California OTHER than SDCC.
Preferably Southern California.
-
UK! Anywhere (We have a few good LARP chapters in the south) I'd travel if I had to!
Actually It's a friends birthday soon & we're having a gaming party if Jim fancies joining us ;)
On the other hand I'm in Mexico in late May so that would do.
-
Wow! Another British person, I think that makes 5 of us now :D
Welcome to the forum!

Zagreb, Croatia!!!

I've been to Croatia, it's awesome.
I like the beaches and the women.
-
We have a Books-A-Million in Rock Hill, SC that would be a great location for your book tour. They're staff is great about keeping those events from becoming melees. Additionally, we would all love to see both of you at DragonCon again this year (in Atlanta)!! (PLEASE????) It will be Sept. 2nd - 5th.
-
If possible I know he's gone to Houston Texas. So if possible could he make down to the Barnes and Noble here in McAllen Texas? If he could that would be freaking awesome as well...Zurph
-
Personally I would like to see him in Colorado again if possible. Missed him the last time he was in the neighborhood. Maybe he will attend with his wife to the Romantic Con in August. Not sure what his availability would be for chatting or signing though.
-
Don't forget the fans up north TORONTO, CANADA EH! ;D
-
Cincinnati, OH would be great. Every time he is in Columbus i never can get up there because of work.
-
PLEASE Colorado Springs!
Would love to meet you! Almost have every book just building my collection! Have read up to Small Favor! And already bought Side jobs!
thank you for your amazing writting!
P.s. I loved the t.v. show...wish it stayed on!

I vote Chicago. Dreden misses him anyways lol ;D

Birmingham, Alabama!

Boston or the NE someplace. I am not holding my breath though.

I second what Fyre said! Anywhere in NE!

Anywhere along the south coast of england. London is so busy smelly and has no friends :D

have throw my voice for Boston before so i will add to yours.
-

nah somewhere in the middle, like York!
It's a small enough country that it's a short enough drive for everyone when it's in the middle. (This is if he were to only go to one place in Britain)
Also, the Waterstones in York has the SF&F section downstairs (underground essentially) So we could all dissapear and geek out :D
-
I still want California, but if he were to go to England it would make sense to go to more then one stop
-
I still want California, but if he were to go to England it would make sense to go to more then one stop
I want California too but a trip containing England and California - waaaay too far apart.
California and Japan or Hawaii now that would be better.
-
Indianapolis. Please?! It's not that far. And he usually goes to places in Ohio for signings, why not just stop in Indy on the way there or back? It's a nice place. I promise. :)
We do have a nice venue in which he may appear... GenCon 2011 - Aug 4-7.. Promote books & RPG.. great food, great ppl, I am willing to chauffuer.
-
Does this mean you are in Indy Cipher? Cause I am as well!
We do have a good venue for Gen Con. AND a good venue even when you aren't here for Gen Con too!
-
I, for one, would like Jim to appear as an image in the mould on my shower curtain.
Thousands would flock to see it and feel it's healing power.

You win, close this thread down, it doesnt get better than that

I was thinking along the lines of if he were to do a European tour or something, then he would only need one or two places in each country. None of them are really that big :P

Huh.
When this get stickied...

I think it already is.

anybody mention montana yet? or at least spokane...

Jim Please come to New England.

Yeah!! I think all 5 of us New Englanders need to start a petition!

Isn't New York part of New England?

Heh. I've had folks threaten me with a beating, IRL, for asking that. ;D

Huh. Coulda sworn NY was part of it.

Heh, no. Not at all
Isnt New Jersey part of New York? Sure smells like it.
Lol
-
Isn't New York part of New England?
I meant all five forum members. There might be 6 if I count the one I know who doesn't pop in often.
And although NY is TECHNICALLY part of New England, the rest of NE considers them part of "not us."
-
New York is a middle colony, they never have and never will be part of New England.
Cite me something that says otherwise.
Lived in Boston for 2 1/2 years.
-

I think they include NY because it is fairly northern. HOWEVER, try getting Mainers to admit NE includes more than VT and NH is like pulling hen's teeth! NY will nev-ah be considered New England.

No New York is a Mid Atlantic State.
really this is killing me. New York is not part of New England

I'm not saying NY is part of NE. However many people think of the Northeast states and NE as the same thing. They also think Canada is South, so you know...

Here's why:
York = England so: New York = New England
Simple no? ::) ;D
Yet another example of logic being a way to go wrong with confidence...

Upstate NY bears far more resemblance to New England than to the mid-Atlantic or midwestern states. Just sayin'.

Big part of why I was thinking that. And even after living in New England for 12 years, I still never remember where it ends.

The borders of NYC itself and NJ are the absolute final cutoff, in my thinking. Upstate NY fades out of New Englandism as it gets closer to the Lakes, but eastern upstate is very much New Englandish.

Sort of like southern Virginia is more like the South than the Mid-Atlantic?
-
Sort of like southern Virginia is more like the South than the Mid-Atlantic?
"Mid-Atlantic", to me, is just about a myth; I fail to see any unifying aspect of the supposed "mid-Atlantic" states other than geographical convenience. The Mason-Dixon Line is actually a lot more accurate for broad grouping.
-
Not really. Maryland and Delaware have more in common with states above the Mason-Dixon line. So does Northern Virginia. Maybe Mid-Atlantic should just refer to those three. :-D

Which is why I personally group them with the northern states.

I'm voting for Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. Currently their idea of a good author to have visit is R. A. Salvatore. I can throw in extra guilt since I've got a candle in the window for a husband deployed to Afghanistan.

You're in luck! Jim is coming to NorWesCon (http://www.norwescon.org/) in SeaTac in late April, only 40 minutes away from the McChord AFB!
-
I still vote for Zagreb! :P
I heard that EuroCon will be held in Zagreb next year... althought im not 100% sure. But it would be awesome! ;D
-
I would love to see Jim appear in Orlando (MegaCon or some such) Its very hard to get out of Florida and see any of the larger conventions

Boy isn't this just my luck he arriaves when I am scheduled to go home to North Carolina for the first time in 3 years. *Sigh* I guess I'll just console myself by reading Ghost Story when it comes out.

How is it that the dapper Mr Morden is the ONLY person to suggest the Twin Cities, Mn? I mean, it's a straight shot up I-35 for Mr. Butcher, and 2/3 of the flipping state live in the area! Visit one city and take care of a whole region? No brainer! We love you up here, my man!
If you feel like dropping by Prior Lake on your way up the wife and I make a heck of a kung poa chicken from scratch....or dago dots (our own creation) = acini de pepi pasta and cheese stuffed meatballs. For all the hours of endless entertainment you have given us we at least owe you a meal!
-
...
And I'm only about six hours east of there. I'd TOTALLY make that! Still pulling for Milwaukee, but Twin Cities would be cool too.
-
would he possibly do something like Dragoncon? I mean i know it's still a pretty huge event, but not a crazy as SDCC.
-
What about Boston?! :) I saw his tour from last year and he was barely on the east coast. He was in NY but then the closest he got after that was Ohio. Boston will treat him well, promise!!
-

He did DragonCon this past year.
-
Promise him a nice stuffed quahog wrapped in foil straight from a beach shack and I bet he comes!
....for that matter, I'm on my way.....keep mine warm.
-
I think Jim should be booked for a week long signing in Aruba, consisting of 2 hours of signing on Monday and 2 hours of signing on Friday. I don't live anywhere near there, but I think Mr. and Mrs. Butcher have earned it (on the publisher's dime of course.)
-
Nice one!
Yes, I think Jim should appear at my local pub. Where no one (but me) will know him or ask him damn fool questions or tell him not to die before completing his opus.
He could just get quietly legless on good British ale.
-

I wholeheartedly support this.
Just....with my luck, he visits during something I can't duck. Like my thesis proposal defense. (Hey, it could happen. I'm supposed to this summer.)
-
CANADA!!!!!! anywhere please pretty please with sugar on top and maybe a bribe too :p
-
What areas/places would you like Jim to come to for the Ghost Story tour?
I would love for him to come to North Carolina myself for a signing or something, anywhere outside the state is just too far away for mwah.
I live in NC as well, and would love to see JB here.
-
What about Boston?! :) I saw his tour from last year and he was barely on the east coast. He was in NY but then the closest he got after that was Ohio. Boston will treat him well, promise!!
We keep asking... maybe all the fans in the NE need to form a Bloc of some sort.
-
I just joined the community and all (Hi everybody, BTW) and I know it's a HUGE long shot in the dark, but has anyone mentioned the Phoenix Comic-Con?
-
DENVER!!! BTW - Glen Cook AND Gardner Dozois will be at MileHiCon this year...
-
He could just visit one Barnes and Noble or Borders in every state ;D

same with me, but would end up just driving into Oregon or something to go see him (its worth the drive)

There is a small bookstore in West Bend, WI, called Fireside Books. It is the LAST privately owned bookstore (that I know of) in Southeast Wisconsin. It could really benefit from the presence of a NYTimes best seller (that it's less than 10 miles from my house is just a coincidence).

southern California.

Naturally, I'm with the UK crowd. For Jim I would even go to Edinburgh. :D
-
I still think, after the next book comes out, he and Shannon need to take a trip to Disneyworld. :)
-

Too right!
Overnight bus = £8.50
Sleeping at my ex's house = £dignity
Actually seeing the legend that is Jim Butcher? = Priceless.
-
what do you push to make the Pound Symbol?
Are UK computers $-less?
-
Well, My computer is German anyway, but I think as standard here it is shift-3 to do a pound sign, shift-4 to do a dollar sign, and ctrl shift-e to do a euro sign. For me it's shift-3 anyway. :)

Oh ya, I agree, Wisconsin, we have Champion Green Bay Packers, not to mention cows..cows...and lots more cows here, ever seen how nice those things are! That means we have lots of healthy milk for him to drink, and mmmm those home made meals from all those good old fashioned families that live here.
Plus if he came here, just think of what he could do for our poor economy and maybe he could even help calm the protests that are making national news here, they may even just stop! Now that in and of itself is a HUGE reason he should come here, seriously!
Jim, you and your wife would be so welcome, we never get anything big here, well but for the Packers, and our Brewers do good once in a while too...and well the Badgers aren't doing too bad either. We have a couple local high school teams that are doing well...ok ok ok, so we do have a lot of great things here, and hey, moral mushrooms..MMMMMmmmmm ever have them fried up in butter? I could get you some *grins* I know some great spots, and hey, we even catch some good fish over there on the Missisippi, I know some good spots for that too, and I also could get you a great home cooked meal, I know some "people" who are wonderful cooks....
Anyway, Wisconsin is a fantastic place to visit. Oh and if you'd like to visit a haunted house or two, could take you to a couple of those also, theater, hey, we've got those too, the real kind, not the movie ones, though we have a few good ones of those also, and bookstores, we have the good ole fashioned kind around here too. We have the great lakes, we have a mountain (not the huge ones, but a mountain nonetheless, least they call it Mt.), we have big bridges, we have low valleys, we have hills, we have flatlands, we have a variety of everything everyone else has in ONE STATE!
Visit us and you have it all....including great people...so there you go... *looks around and laughs* Boy I need a job to sell Wisconsin to others....I'd be good.
-

Anudder Wisconsinite? YAY!!! 'Sokay, you can say it. Wisconsin is the greatest state in the Union!
-
Yes, we're all around *grins evilly, rolling hands while looking around* soon we'll have them all... *nodding, then running off*
-
My vote for this particular book goes to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. There is a *huge* industry built on ghostly encounters, and given the title of the book, Jim would pull in a crowd. :)

I could get behind Gettysburg. I've got some friends in the area.

Ditto on North Carolina. I'm in Charlotte, but would definitely drive a ways for a JB event.
-
The UK, specifically Scotland.
-
Heh, Waco would be awesome ^^ But if anything Dallas or Austin. I"m stuck between both of them.
-
Chicago or Indy.
I just saw Patricia Briggs at the same Borders Jim was apparently at in 09. Hopefully Ace has him go everything other book and he goes there for Ghost Story.
I'm new to the forum, is there some e-newsletter or anything that would update me to events?
-
I would like to see Jim come to Georgia for this tour. I missed him last year at Dragon Con, and from the little I have read, he won't be coming this year.
-
He did DragonCon this past year.
I got to meet Jim, Priscellie, Shecky, Iago, Serack, and quite a few others at MarsCon.
I think it would be a great idea to find at least one place each year and do our best to do a JB Fan Event. Pick a smaller Con, like MarsCon, or one of the smaller ComicCons (Baltimore anyone?) and make an effort to get everyone out to it.
If I find out that there will be another event on the East Coast, between New York and South Carolina... I will do everything I can to make it out there !

You can change your profile settings to get notification for new posts to certain boards or topics. (Profile>Modify My Profile>Notifications & Email)
Here is general announcements, which is where they post updates on the sample chapter releases, etc. :
http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/board,11.0.html
And his 2011 schedule so far:
http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,23510.0.html
Also, whenever you log in you can check "Show new replies to your post" for any topic you post in. You can just post one word to keep track of the topic. (But this can get cumbersome if you start to post in a lot of topics.)
I hope this helps and welcome! *whispers to self* Good luck leaving.... its like crack.....

I'm in Houston, would love to see him come back this way for a signing when the new book comes out.

Murder by the Book in Houston, TX!
Ditto this one!

Jim,
Please come to Sacramento or somewhere in Northern California! You have a lot of fans here and we would absolutely love the honour and pleasure of meeting you.
I dislike traveling as well (due to a serious back injury) so I understand that you don't like to travel, however, anything I can do to help make it easier for you I will be happy to assist.
Thanks,
Shamrock Jack (Blake Cates)

it will be all about him (and maybe Shannon can have a spot in it) but it has to be called Splatercon!!! so that only his fans will recognize it

I was going to say just ButcherCon, but then I had an ugly image of angry guys in bloody white aprons with sharpened cleavers wondering what they'd been suckered into...
-

Yes, I live just on the southwest edge of Indianapolis. I want to learn the Dresden RPG enough so that I can run adventures.

No ...either MisterCon or MouseCon. ;D
-
I would love him to come to the military bases, Germany in particular since that's where I will be. They often have authors come for book signing events. The USO arranges this sort of thing.

He's doing that. The betas are currently biting their nails and chugging NyQuil just to be able to sleep.
-
He's been to Houston at least two of the last three tours and we did get the launch so not expecting it again. Maybe the fact that there was such a great event and the publisher had to arrange for extra books when the store sold out the morning of will play in our favor.
-
He's doing that. The betas are currently biting their nails and chugging NyQuil just to be able to sleep.
Ghost Story's not done yet? I figured it be in final edit / layout by now.
-

No, they pushed back the release date because JB was having some problems doing it to his satisfaction and he'd sooner do it right then fast. His publisher and all of us fans agree wholeheartedly. Release date is, I think, somewhere around July 26th, 2011.
-

If only they'd done it while I was till in Starnberg or Ansbach!
-
Is there a chance he might make it again this year? I could not make last year and my friend who was going to get my copy of
Changes signed was too far back in line when the signing session ended.
He did DragonCon this past year.

Unlikely. He tends not to do the big cons two years in a row. We should get his signing schedule in the next few weeks, though. Who knows?
-
I'm in Dallas, saw JB when he last went through and got him to sign a few books. David Weber was also there and Taylor Anderson. It was great to have some of my favorite authors all together at one place and hear them speak.
-
Now that he's completed Ghost Story, I think he should relax by coming to NERO Cincinnati. ;D We've got an event in a couple weeks.

Yes he is. (http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,25148.0.html) :)

NY NY NY NY NY!
God, if he even thought about coming here once (yes I know he was here for comic con...stupid expenses) for a reading/interview event somewhere.
-
Yes he is. (http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,25148.0.html) :)
Technically, he isn't. :D
He finished writing the book, and it's now in Penguin's flippers, but he still has some revisions to do before the manuscript is complete.

Details details... can't you just let the masses celebrate for JUST A LITTLE before you dash cold water all over our hopes and dreams and fuzzy bunny-rabbit thoughts of Jim actually being DONE for once?
Sheesh. Meanyheads.

los angeles
-
Has Jim ever made it to the UK? If not we'd like to see him here 8) I think we've earned it, after all there's about 10 of us on the mapping thread! ;D Doesn't matter where I'm sure his UK fans would travel to see him.
-
Any news yet on SDCC 2011? I got to see Jim a Dragoncon but more is always better.
And if he does, maybe he could be a surprise guest at W00tstock :)

No word yet. And ha, he would be an AWESOME guest at W00tstock! I know Felicia Day is a big fan of his books...
-
David Weber was also there and Taylor Anderson.
I just picked up Taylor's Destroyermen series, and am really loving it. Funny thing—they caught my eye because the title font on the covers is the same that's used for Dresden. :D
-
If any kind of gathering in or around the East Coast area, let me know. I'd love to try and be there.

He's got 5 books out in the series so far and they all good.

Edmonton, alberta

Baltimore, non of my favorite authors ever seem to stop here though

Chicago of course.
-
Burger King.

If he came to Green Bay, WI that would be beyond awesome... but I would be happy if he'd at least come to Milwaukee. :)

San Francisco

I would really appreciate it if Mr Butcher would come to Austin or San Antonio
-
I'd love it if he went to Balticon, as I happen to be going this year.
If not, Philadelphia would absolutely love him!
-

Baltimore Comic-Con? I think that would be AWESOME. Isn't BCC right after GS comes out?
-
NanoCon!
http://www.nanocon.us/
Nanocon started back when I was at college at DSU. Basically, the on campus gaming club said "Let's have a con!" so, they did. And it's been growing every year. It's still relatively small, and it's just a weekend of board games, Magic the Gathering, other card games, roleplaying games etc.
So, Jim, come to Nanocon!
-
I'd love it if he's attend DragonCon in Atlanta Labor Day weekend again.
I wasn't able to go last year and really wanted to meet him.
-
Pensacola, Florida!
-
Iowa City, IA!!!
-
Another big appearance is almost confirmed. Hopefully, I'll be able to post something in the next week or so.
Please be Baltimore... Please be Baltimore...
-
Love to see him in Michigan. Ann Arbor would be a likely candidate but he'd be welcome anywhere. :)
-
I would love if Mr. Butcher could would consider coming to the Michigan around Detriot. Perhaps even make an appearance at Youmacon.
-
Please come back to Books & Company in Dayton (Beavercreek) Ohio.
-
^^^^^^^this would be awesome as I can see one my closest friends at the same time!
But I'm still hoping for Indianapolis!!!

DRAGONCON 2011! DRAGONCON 2011! DRAGONCON 2011! OH PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE!
So Many awesome Authors, Artists, Performers & Fans!
-
I would really appreciate it if Mr Butcher would come to Austin or San Antonio
This as well, It would be better if it were Lubbock or San Antonio for me though. I live in Midland, if he could come here, that too would be awesome.
-
Jim needs to get away from it all in sunny Las Vegas!!!
I would say Bullhead City, AZ but nobody in their right minds comes here.
-
Did anyone already say Dragon*Con ???
Last year was all too much fun with him there ;D
-
Jim needs his own con - ButcherCon!
-
It's been tried before (several years ago IIRC) and kind of got Murphy's-Lawed before it could ever come to life.
-
Oh dear, sorry to hear that.
-
How about a signing at Gencon :)
-
There are few things out there for which I would create an account, just for the purpose of the opportunity to make a comment like this, but Master Butcher is definitely a front-runner.
Last year, he had signings for Changes at Mysterious Galaxy in San Diego, CA, and the Barnes and Noble at Bella Terra, in Buena Park, CA. Please cast my vote for either, with my preference on the latter - if I can drive 20 minutes, instead of 2 hours, I'll take it!
And yes, I have given him the title of "Master". I am that old-fashioned. :D
-
Please come to Grand Rapids, MI!
-
Gencon, Indianapolis! :D
-
Tampa Bay, FL
-
Colorado State University
Fort Collins, Colorado!
-
I would like to see the book tour hit within a few hours of Lawton, OK. I would prefer Oklahoma City, but the drive to Dallas, Texas isn't that bad.
-
I know this is a huge stretch.. but umm somewhere in the Greater Kansas City area would be nice! ;D
-
How about Albuquerque? It worked for Bugs Bunny and it is central to Denver and Phoenix. There is a good base of fans here and well ...we would love to have you and Shannon visit.
-
I know this is a huge stretch.. but umm somewhere in the Greater Kansas City area would be nice! ;D
When Hell freezes over! :D
-
Yet another vote for Dallas, TX please.
Last Sci Fi event here involved a bunch of vamps from Bon Temps Louisiana. No doubt in my mind though that Dresden would beat the stakes out of some TrueBlood butt.
Hmmm - Red Court vs. Eric Northman....
Who is hotter - Sookie or Susan?
and please, no pansy-ass Team Edward nonsense...
such novel metaphors, all thrown in a blender, and served like a margarita ;D
-
Haven't read all the votes, so I don't know exactly how many people are with me on this one, but Mannheim, Germany? Know its a stretch, but hell, its definitely worth throwing out there. I mean, everybody wants to come to Germany. Check out the Autobahn, see all the museums and countryside, walk through the *cough cough* red light district. All kinds of cool stuff! But seeing as how our bookstore here, at least the American one here on post, is very limited in its selection I was seriously worried about Ghost Story even making an appearance on our shelves. :( I had to order Changes through Amazon, and just preordered GS a couple months ago. Suffice it to say that there would be plenty of time for you to kick back and get some good R&R, a chance to sell your books to not only the military community over here, but also the local nationals, and you would also have a good deal of sightseeing opportunities with all the castles and ruins here for any writers block inspiration that you could need.
-
How about an author tour in South Africa...
I know some of the people at Penguin SA, sure I could pull some strings ;D Can end the tour at my store in Nelspruit and then spend some time game-viewing in the Kruger Park. (okay, now I'm starting to sound desperate...)
SA WANTS JIM!!!
-
Definitely GenCon Indy!
-
I would love to see him in Kennewick, Wa.
-
Ann Arbor, MI! He did a signing there two years ago that was awesome! I missed him last year :'(
-
Seriously, is there a signing schedule for the July release?
-
Seriously, is there a signing schedule for the July release?
There is, but I've been instructed to keep it secret from you specifically.
(Kidding, I haven't received the dates/locations yet. But I usually get details a smidge over two months ahead of release, and we're about two and a half months away now. No cause for concern!)
-
Would love to see Jim here in Denver Colorado, i know there are many people here wanting to attend one of his signings :)
-
Salt Lake City, Utah. It's pretty, and full of mormons. Why wouldn't he want to come here? :)

Dang, I was scrambling to pop some aspirin for a heart attack while planning a Des Moines Signing dinner party! :-) I mean we aren't that far away, only the blasted air fare from KC is so high! You can fly anywhere in the country cheaper and i doubt they'd have time for a road trip! :-) I'll be in KC though if they are going to be there. Keep him away from Scottsdale, too hot in July...
-
Omaha, the last time he was here for Turn Coat we took him out to supper would like to do that agian.
-
Omaha, the last time he was here for Turn Coat we took him out to supper would like to do that agian.
I like this idea. Who do we contact if we want to do this?
-
Borders Express ... about 73rd and Quivira in Shawnee again. Please!
-
Oh, I would soooo take him out to dinner in Ann Arbor, MI if he came here! Like I would need to be convinced!
-
San Francisco
I'm gonna quote you here, because I completely missed him the last time he was anywhere near me. Really, anywhere on the San Francisco peninsula is good, but unfortunately that Borders he appeared at a few years ago has closed.
-
Los Angles, or vegas would be good
-
London, UK!
-
Powell's Books downtown Portland, OR.
Missed him last time. It was pre-Butcher/Dresden for me.
Now that I've read them all it would be way cool to meet Jim.
-
Dragon*Con! Oh please, please, PLEASE Dragon*Con!
-
Does anyone know if there even is a Kansas City ComicCon?
I'm placing it here to hopefully generate interest, get one started, and get Jim there.
-
how is it you can start a new topic here and I can't?

That's really odd. Non-mods shouldn't be able to start topics here.

It's actually in Naperville about 45 mins or so from Chicago proper. Nice neighborhood, roughly 15 minutes travel time from a mall, if you are so inclined. Lots of stuff to do and places to go in the area as well.

Apologies :) My response was meant to re-direct thedeathhat to the fact that the Naperville signing is considered Chicagoland. Sorry for the ambiguity.
-
Thanks everyone going to naperville for my first ever signing
-
Anywhere in the RTP area of NC would be good for me. The B&Ns around here host a lot of people. There is also a great bookstore in Raleigh in the Quail Ridge shopping center that hosts quite a bit as well. The walls of their restroom are covered with pictures of the different authors they've hosted. We have plenty of Burger Kings and lots of microbreweries along with places to get great steak sandwiches.
-
Austin, Tx!
-
I would be thrilled for him to appear in western Kentucky, Paducah is probably the most viable option. While we have a wonderful art community and many tourist opportunities, The National Quilt Museum i just one of them, we get over looked for most events such as this. The city is easy to get around, economically reasonable to stay and eat in, along with having a burgeoning literary and film community. Kentucky is such a large state, events usually happen in Louisville or Lexington and that can be 5 hour, 6 hour or longer trip from other parts of the state.
A good alternative would be Nashville, TN - a larger area with many more bookstores. It's also a very easy city to get around, park, etc.with lots of book stores. Nashville is also closer to much of Kentucky that Lexington or Louisville. It's just a two hour drive from Paducah, about five from St. Louis, MO. Nashville also has an annual large book event, which I think is over the summer.
What a thrill it would be it would be for a book signing to take place there!
-
ORLANDO, FL, please! Don't stop in Atlanta, keep on going south

Boston, or any where in Massachusetts really...

??? ??? :'( :'( :'( STILL no Albuquerque????
I admit it's hot here, but after all, he DID write about Camp Kaboom and needs to see what he was writing about!
Besides, I STILL can't get to any of the other locations.... Can't afford the virtual signing, either. Can't WAIT for the book to get shipped...
I'm a mess.....................

Keep it together, hon.
Maybe next year? I've never been there myself, but I've heard some folks (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEDbhhP5uFw&feature=related) say it's a swingin' place!
LML
(Of course, my home state of Minnesota has a few things (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKeHQpT5wVE&feature=related) to recommend it as well. ;D)
-

He's afraid he'll miss the left turn.

Yes, Fargo! After all, Dresden is the winter knight :-).
-
Jefferson City MO, yes, yes, yes. Close to home...
-
ORLANDO, FL, please! Don't stop in Atlanta, keep on going south
Orlando would be awesome, but failing that, Dragon*Con in Atlanta, GA would be great and provide a lot more exposure than most venues (since people like me will travel to be there for the full weekend event). Sadly, I see he's already doing Atlanta at the end of July, so while I will *hope*, I won't hold my breath. =)

Is there any chance that Jim would come for a London book signing at some point in the near future?
DF is getting bigger here, its gone from one or two books to having its own shelf in the sci fi section with every released book since I've started reading. And that's just my (small) local bookstore.
-
I would be eternally greatful if The dashing Mr Butcher would grace the fair city of New Orleans. I'll make the gumbo ;)
-
Hey, since he's in Naperville, he could just turn right, head towards WI, on his way to...well whatever's next and stop by my place, that way I don't have to worry about the doc yelling because I'm driving so far from home alone. It's just near the border of WI/IL, so real close, kind of, to Naperville. :D
-
San Francisco or San Jose CA. I met Jim there once when Turn Coat came out and would love to see him again!
-
He's afraid he'll miss the left turn
Eeehh. What's up doc?
-
Southern California!! :)

Darn, he missed my hospital room a few weeks ago :D
-
Denver, Colorado. at Genghis Con around President's Day Weekend in February. Yes Please
-
Indianapolis would be nice. :)
-
How about Geek.Kon next year, in Madison, WI...then I can wear the costume I'm making this year *grins* I'm really really really going to be working hard on it and I really would love to wear it to something bigger than a signing...heck..just somewhere close so I can wear it to a signing would be nice :D But since I've never been to anything .con or .kon would be nice.
-
Here in North Texas. :)
-
More appearances in either Philadelphia, or New York. Please.
This has been transcribed by a kind and loyal brownie in exchange for honey and milk so that "the infernal machine stops throwing sparks at me..." And only blows up once a year.
-
Please come to Uncle Hugo's in Minneapolis...one of the last and truly great indepedent book stores devoted exclusively to scifi/fantasy!
-
Please come to Madison geekcom, that's one really really close to me, and one I can actually dress up at, and..and...and well,....yeah...

Northeast New Jersey.
Screw NYC. Gas + Tolls + Parking = $80-$100 just to get there. I like Jim and all his books but in this economy thats just irresponsible.
There is a small bookstore in Ridgewood NJ that has done a lot of author signings over the years. Or there is a HUGE Barnes & Nobles in Paramus NJ
-
There are lots of great places in Illinois he could go! Sadly, Normal is much too small, and we only have one chain bookstore left now that Borders has closed. Naperville isn't accessible by train, so I had to skip it, but there are some really good bookstores in Chicago proper. Not to mention Champaign-Urbana.
Quick segue: I think it would be amusing for Harry to do a job in the actual 'state' of Illinois. Chicago is pretty much a city/state in its own right, and has little or nothing to do with the rest of Illinois. If only because there are so many hilarious place names. Cairo = Kay-row, Vienna = Vie-anna, San Jose = just like it's spelled, literally, Versailles = Ver-sails.

I'm from South Jersey and I find that taking the train up to NYC is actually fairly reasonable (Train was $30 round trip and the subway was like $3), plus you don't have to worry about driving in the city or finding parking. I used to always think that going up to NYC was going to be too much of a hassle or too expensive, but it really is rather affordable if you take the right form of transportation. Plus, the opportunity to meet Jim is priceless. He's a pretty amazing person (on top of being a fantastic author).
-
Jim was in CC Philly a few years ago for a convention. He stayed at a hotel right next to my office. I found out about it a couple of days AFTER the event!!!
still can't believe i missed it. and he hasn't been back to philly since.
More appearances in either Philadelphia, or New York. Please.

Barnes and Noble in Rome, Ga ;DPretty please^_^

Nor Tyson's Corner ;D

Anywhere in Australia...but, yeah, I know, doesn't travel well. If I ever come to the States, I'll be sure to come visit wherever the hell Jim is going to be at the time!

Philadelphia, since it's probably unlikely for him to show up anywhere in New Jersey nearer me.

New to the forums, but seeing him around the St. Louis Missouri area would be nice. I got at least 6 peeps hooked on the mindcrack that is Dresden in the last two years or so ... would be neat to meet 'em.

Every book release, Jim does his first signing in Kansas City/Independence area. Every where else is further afield. I keep asking for Northwest Arkansas, but it won't happen any more than St.Louis will. Sorry.
-
Every book release, Jim does his first signing in Kansas City/Independence area.
Not necessarily. He did a day of issue signing in Houston a couple of years ago.
-
Montreal or Quebec City, I'd still drive up for that.

His first one for Changes or Turn Coat, can't remember which at the moment, was in Chicago. I'm still upset that I didn't get to go.
-
Any word on if he'll be visiting SoCal soon? L.A. or around there perhaps?
-
Not necessarily. He did a day of issue signing in Houston a couple of years ago.
Well, not the first one each time, but at some point on the tour of each book.

Somewhere in the Carolina's, perhaps near the Raleigh/Durham area would be nice. :)

Sydney, Australia
Come on over mate!

Halifax NS hosts Hal-Con http://hal-con.com/ (http://hal-con.com/). It's too late for this year (November 12-13, 2011) but I would love it if we could arrange for Next year maybe.
We'll have to see what budget we can raise before we can start soliciting for guests.

I must say i think a stop in SLC, Utah would be great. Tons of fans out here and the closest i have seen him is denver.
-
I'd fly in for that. Especially in April.
-
DeWitt, Arkansas. There are a few fans here, not much going on at all either, and it's not too far away from home.
-
not much going on at all either
I'm not sure you're exactly /selling/ the idea here.
-
;D Somewhere in the Metro Detroit area!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every year in Charlotte, NC the Heroes Convention kicks off in early June. I think Jim would be a fantastic addition to the great artist and writers. Of course he could sign all of the Dresden files books I have and I could meet him. Happy Birthday Jim and keep up the great work.
-
I live in Warren, New Hampshire, so it would be wonderful if he came to Plymouth, NH. since it is a small college town. I would imagine that he could fine a place to set up for a book signing and to meet and greet others. That would be cool. Plymouth is only 25 minutes from me and it would be easy to get to. Anywhere else that he has listed for book signings are just too far away for me to get to.

Another New Englander! I think that makes 6. Woot!
You just missed him in Boston. I'm only about 45 minutes from N.Conway- if he is going to be anywhere close to MA, ME, or NH in the future I'm sure we can figure out a way to get you there. We did a mini-trip this summer that worked out awesome.
Maybe we can convince Jim to take up skiing?? ;)
-
Anywhere in the California, Bay Area (San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland, ect.) Please.
-
I would love for Mr. Butcher to appear in Alabama, preferably in Birmingham, Oxford, Gadsden. I would love to meet him. Maybe he could do a reading with a some Q&A. That would be SO awesome! I know that I would be there, and, most likely my son who I turned onto the books. ;D

I whole-heartedly second this! That's a workabel drive for me, and would be more than enough reason to attend the Con.

Ummm... How about Chicago, IL? That is where Harry keeps his home/business after all...

Yep. Let's go with Plymouth NH. I'm just down the road from there in Bridgewater. so now there's 7 in NH?? Not sure that will be enough to bring Jim in, but what the heck this is all about fantasy, right?
-
Pittsburgh Pa. At Confluence of the like.
-
I live in North Carolina also, and would love to see Mr. Butcher make it to HeroesCon in Charlotte. It is June 22-24. A comic book con. The website for it is http://www.heroesonline.com/heroescon/ . I usually am helping an artist at her booth there, but I would definetly find time to see Mr Butcher, and perhaps get 1 or 14 books signed :)
-
I would love to see him come back to Portland, Oregon up at Powells. I didn't get to see him last time he was here and would love to actually get to meet him in person!

What she said! What she said!
-
St Louis, MO. Columbia, MO would be fantastic but I'd settle for St. Louis.
-
It's too bad Jim's not going to be at any conventions. I would have LOVED to have seen him at the 2011 comicon! But...I am only going this year. So...Denver would be a nice stop. People tend to forget about us cowboys in the middle of the country.
-
When he is ready, CANADA! :D
-
NEAR DALLAS TX! like south-ish you know, my house!!!! i'm a newer dresdenite and love his work, would be amazing if he could come out this way!
-
Denver! Denver Comic-Con, Mile High Con, Star/Horror/Comic Fest, Tattered Cover, B&N

The Seattle area, but I respect his desire for time off. When he's ready, I would love to see him at the University of Washington, again.
-

I second the sentiment. I missed him last time he was in Seattle, so I'd love to get a second chance when Jim is ready.
My other home of Spokane, WA I know would also be honored by Jim's presence...
-
Denver or Aurora, Colorado. I think the last time he was here was for MileHiCon in 2008?? and I was really miffed that I had to work. :'( This time the gloves are coming off and no one will find me...unless they read this post and figure out my whereabouts from this.
-

I have a friend who loves your books. We are planning to attend Gen Con Indy 2012 - August 16-19. I think it would be great if you could possibly attend as I have heard your name mentioned several times in the past, when I attended the con. If you don't have plans somewhere else IT WOULD BE GREAT TO SEE YOU THERE.

My only chance to see Jim was at a book signing in Jefferson City, MO many years ago. He signed a book for me, I'm thinking it was White Night, it might have been Small Favor. Anyway, I have loved every book. This past holiday, I took in a young girl who was the daughter of a former friend. She was basically homeless and my family gave her a place to live, money, food, and even bought her a plane ticket to go to her mother.
She was lying.
She was actually wanted by the police and she and her boyfriend stole most of my dvd's, a bunch of cd's and a lot of my books, including the autographed one. :'( Shockingly, I got the autographed book back this week!!! I found it on the shelf at my local Hastings, showed the inscription to the manager and they gave it back with no hassles. So I'm only down four or five others. :( But still happier than I was!
I am telling you all this sad tale, because if Jim come to Central Missouri again, there's one fan who would be eternally grateful. I know he lives in KC already...but that's not where I'm likely to get to any time soon. (And it's not like I could knock on his door. LOL)
-
I hear rumor he may be coming to Missoula, Montana for MisCon in may of 2013. No way to confirm that though.
-
what part of may is that if we can coffirm it i might be able to pull some strings and get to the other side of the world if my exams are over by then
still hopping for som where slitly closer i knoe asking for a posible 9 hour flight is a mit much stupid oceon corsing problems

Come to London Jim! Next year's MCM expo, I know someone who'll be cosplaying, and If you're coming I'll do it too. I'm a short, hairy welshman, but that doesn't mean I can't try being dresden.

I know he did MileHiCon in 2008. Not sure if he's been there more recently.

hmmm I would have been in Iraq at that point. No wonder I missed it.
-
AUSTRALIA!!!!!!
Preferably Sydney (maybe SUPANOVA expo)
-
Please, please, please come back to Boston!
-
Pittsburgh, Pa!
-
How about Phoenix or Tucson? I live in Phoenix, so I would vote for Tucson. :D (not because I enjoy driving. Let's just be diplomatic and say Tucson is nice town.)
-
Iowa. It's not just the home to the future James T. Kirk, but lots and lots of quiet book readers who would go gaga over meeting an author they like. Most authors never come here. :( I'd prefer Des Moines for convienence.
-
college station Texas or lubbock or Houston just any were in Texas
-
Dallas, or one of the surrounding cities that I can get to. Meeting Jim! Jim signing books! Jim talking about his writing! squeeeeeee!
Oh, did I just guarantee that Jim will never come to the area by being too Fan Girl? ;D
-
No, don't worry about that. Much squeeeing female and...male goes on on this site. ;D
-
lol
so glade that means i am not the only one ;D
-
No, don't worry about that. Much squeeeing female and...male goes on on this site. ;D
Excellent! When I'm in squeeing Fan Girl mode I'm never sure how the person I'm meeting will react. Sometimes they react graciously; sometimes they frantically look around for security (or, the nearest exit -- or both), while backing slowly away from me.
-
lol
sounds like you get around and meet people a lot
lucky
-
I would very much like to see him come to Indianapolis. With the other places he goes it shouldn't be hard to stop in Indy on his way through.
-
I'm with Seriphina on this one! It's a great city on the way to other great cities!!!
Hey even Olivia Newton-John did a book signing here this past weekend! though she actually didn't have that many people come for it. Still ended up being a cool event for my hubby! :D
-

A friend of mine used to refer to that as - The Mindless Drooling FemFan - you open your mouth and
stupidities fall out. Much to your chagrin and the, sometimes, terror of the VIP you are meeting.
-
why do you lot sound like you have done this in the past ?
-
Yup, been there - done that.
I usually try to keep quiet now - then I don't sound so ridiculous. Deep sigh.
-
you redicules shorly not?
i have never had the chance so do not know what i would do
proberly get rely scered and just stand there with my mouth half open looking dume ::)
-
Oh my yes, I can be looking and sounding ridiculous with the best, or would that be worst, of them. ::) ::)
-
*chuckles* rely don't see it snow#but hay i don't see a lot of things so i guess my opinone dose not rely count on the topic of sight :P ;D
-
CWG stop putting yourself down, please.
You're entitled to an opinion.
-
um must i
but it is so very easy
sorry snow i shall stop now but when i am deprest it is rely hard to think posertivly about my elf
i still don't see you looking stupid and dum ;D
-
Oh trust me on this one - I've made some clankers in my day.
Problem is - I remember many of them which still makes me squirm to this day.
-
*chuckles* i will take your word on it snow]i juess you lurned from them
advatage of ae i suspect
-
Sigh, I think the only thing I learned from them is that I'm not near as smart
and clever as I wish I was, or think I am. Deep sigh.
-
aw i am shore that is not true maybe if you thought about what you where going to say before you got there then you might not have the problem again *hugs*
-
Yeah, but with some celebrities - you get one look at them and that's it.
All your intelligence drains out your ears leaving you - A Mindless Drooling FemFan. ::)
-
well as there is only rely one person who is fames i have ever even thought i would like to meet and still would like to one day i will take your word on that two
(no prizes for who)

I understand that Mr. Butcher enjoys LARP. If that is still the case, then both Jim and Shannon need to put Gulf Wars on their list of places to appear. Gulf Wars is a week long event hosted by Gleann Abhann which is a kingdom in the Society for Creative Anachronism. Gulf Wars will be held March 10 - 17 in 2013. My husband and I along with four other friends have built a recreation of a 15th Century tavern there which I think both Jim and Shannon would enjoy visiting. Not so much for a book signing or anything, but I think they would have fun. No LARPing though. Our fighters use ratan weapons.
-
Yeah, but with some celebrities - you get one look at them and that's it.
All your intelligence drains out your ears leaving you - A Mindless Drooling FemFan. ::)
Oh, ouch. Been there, done that -- still get embarrassed by the memories. Just in case I might not be experiencing enough mortification in life, I have been known to change into A Mindless Drooling, Babbling, FemFan. Oh, my goodness. :-[
-
I'd go to Gulf Wars if Jim was going to be there! :)
-
From the sounds of it - if JB went to the Gulf Wars - he'd be going to enjoy himself
not 'appearing' to promote The Dresden Books.
I'm sure he'd be very nice to his fans but they wouldn't be his primary reason for
going.
-
At his computer... finishing the Dresden series!!!!

So "Ghost Story" isn't the last one?
Been wondering around the old Forum since I can now get on but I didn't see anything that says but I may not have gone back far enough.
But as to where I want him to go...besides the computer as Mike stated :) Central Cailf.

Book 14, "Cold Days," is expected this fall. Perhaps Octoberish. We should get an exact release date in the next month or so!

ooh yay! ;D

ooh yay! ;D
This is just my guess, mind. Seeing as how the book is due in a month, I expect Penguin will have enough data to set a release toward the end of that window. Don't quote me, though. :D
-
ooh yay! ;D
I agree. But when is "Ghost story" going to be out in paperback? So I can read it?
Boy for someone who was one of Butcher's first fans I sure have to wait long to read his books. :)
Now even longer for that next one but at least there will be one. :)
-

August 7th. I'll have to double-check with Jim's editor, but I believe there will be sample material from "Cold Days" included!
-
ooh
i am colecting the papper backs
witch means when i finnish i will have moltipul coppies of some books
will have to get this
even if there is no sample matireal
oh wait i was any way ;D
thank you

Thank you Priscellie
And I could buy it for my Nook but since I have all the others in actual paper I think I will wait...even though not sure why I torture myself that way.
Can't say this is all real but I've noticed that in the last few years most publishers of hardbacks put out the paperback version earlier than they used to. Not Buthcer's, they seem to take a significant longer period of time to transform his tale into paperbacks.
And I meant it when I said I was one of his first fans. My first few books have the original covers. Can't say for sure when I picked him up but he wouldn't have had more than the first three books out, maybe only SF. I started pushing him on others soon after.

Moving from NYC to LA; man, you just can't escape those bronchial irritants, can you? ;)
-
I'm finding the potential release date of "Octoberish" and the evocative and slightly haunting title "Cold Days" wonderfully symmetrical.
Here in Utah, October is when Winter really starts sharpening its claws.
-

LOL
sorry
-
I always come to his signings at the Books & Co. in Dayton, OH. :)
-
Has Jim ever came to Fort Worth, Texas? I would love that if he could.
-
Vegas Baby!! I've noticed he's been to SoCal a number of times, specifically to Dark Delicacies in Burbank, CA. If he could, on one of his tours just stop in Las Vegas. It's so close, just a about 5-5 1/2ish hrs from Burbank, that would be amazing!! I have at least 4-5ppl + myself that would come. I know they have friends, who have friends and so forth. It would be a good turn out. He has a lot of fans in Vegas. ;)
-
Dear Jim,
Hello, please know that if you wish to visit Concord, California I am prepaired to offer you free Burger King. All you can eat. This is not a bribe. This is a fact.
Thank you,

I would almost bribe with the same type of thing. :)
But he has come to a book signing in a city-two or three times- around five hours from me. But it's on a Saturday and I'm usually expected to work with someone in the mornings and I probably would have to drive back after dark--getting home late...been so tempted to do it anyway.
-

Boy for someone who was one of Butcher's first fans I sure have to wait long to read his books. :)

If you're interested, I have an extra hardcover copy of Ghost Story that I'd be willing to mail to you for free. :) It's in excellent condition.
And no authors of any significance rarely, if ever, come to Indiana, so I have no hope to see JB. We may be in the crossroads of America, but we're overlooked in just about every aspect you can think of.
-
Has Jim ever came to Fort Worth, Texas? I would love that if he could.
He went to Dallas a few years back.
-
Vegas would be OK with me. We have non-stop flights from Des Moines to Vegas... :)
-

Sorry, it took me so long to get back here.
Thank you a bunch for the offer. Oh, boy it sounds gooood but my wife thinks my paperbacks take up too much room now, which is one reason I bought a Nook. I have books everywhere in one room and in a cabinet in another room...she has made comments about it. I think I will have to decline your great offer--rats. I'm going to be on vacation soon and if I get on the ball I will go through a bunch of the books and see about getting rid of some. But I also want to revise one and half novels, write a story about life on a deadly planet in a week and critique a few so we will see what I remember to do.
I have bought some e-books but I would like to keep DF on paper because all the previous ones are.
-
LOL! I hear you. ;)
I never seem to have enough room for new books either, so I go through them every so often and try to get rid of a few old ones, but I hate to part with a lot of them. :-\
Most of my DF books are paperback, since I just started reading less than two months ago, but I did find hardcopies of TC and GS at the local used bookstore because I couldn't find a paperback anywhere.
Sounds like you've got your writing work cut out for you. Good luck!
-
Add another vote for North Carolina (Raleigh, but I'd drive 500 miles to hear Jim talk).
-
The Library of Congress' National Book Festival. I think it would be an awesome opportunity for all your fans to come experience this great event with you. :)

There are some books I know I want to get rid of. I have around ten of the Shadowrun series. It's based on a video game evidently but the books tok off on their own. They had various writers with some sub series. Plus I know I have three duplicates and probably a few others I could find I wouldn't mind selling. I may try Craig's list.
Most I want to keep and some I may read again some day pre has if there is a lull after some of my favorite series end.

Actually that wouldn't be a bad idea, it would be open to everyone even though some of us would have to travel a far ways.

Now that fanazero mentioned it, That would be a good ideas
except I was thinking my house and he could bring some of Mac's beer. But if he doesn't drink-actually I don't either-we could go to Starbucks for something cold.
And everyone else can sit in their corner and talk about alcohol in drinks. Him and me got important things to discuses...like Dresden and writing.

If I were to be stuck in a locked room with Jim, I wouldn't talk about Dresden or writing. Or if I did talk about Dresden, I'd be like "Hey, like the Dresden, so anyway about guns..."
-
Denver!! Either for Denver ComicCon in June of 2013 or his own tour would be awesome!
-
I'm so glad I have another Denver vote!
-
I vote LA!
-
I vote LA!
Los Angeles or Louisiana? Because I second Los Angeles. :D
-
Cincinnati would be handy for me & mine, but I bet 11-yr-old Holly T. Honda, would get us to Columbus for a good cause like seeing Mr. Butcher, IF we asked her nicely... :D
-
Los Angeles or Louisiana? Because I second Los Angeles. :D
Yeah, as much as I enjoy Louisiana (well, parts of it and in the "winter"), it'd be distracting. XD
-
Hmmm. JB signing in NOLA during Carnival. Or Jazz Fest.
I'd totally go cross-country for that.
*has a beignet craving fit*
-
Beignets.
::lower lip trembles::
::googles "gluten free vegan beignets"::

Absolutely a Utah visit would be great! I would totally drive to Denver also.

Sorry, I've been a Cali Girl too long. Los Angeles.

What areas/places would you like Jim to come to for the Ghost Story tour?
Come to Minneapolis! PLEASE!!!!

Dear Jim,
Hello, please know that if you wish to visit Concord, California I am prepared to offer you free Burger King. All you can eat. This is not a bribe. This is a fact.

Offer still stands.......
-
Somewhere within 2-3 hours of Raleigh North Carolina would be nice.
-
Please come to the UK!
-
Minneapolis.
Minneapolis.
MINNEAPOLIS!!!
I say to thee, times three, so that perhaps one day it will be!
-
I guess that I should have put a "pretty pretty please" in there somewhere, but that would have undermined the dramatic effect...
;)

-
how about some where i can get to?
*sighs* its not going to happen is it?
:(
unless he crosses the atlantic i am never going to get to meet him :(
-
Well, without a doubt I would like Jim to come to Park Road Books in Charlotte, where Kevin Hearne recently signed (what a sweetie). Plus I would totally make him dinner.
And you know, having Shannon visit would be keeno-beano too. Gah, I miss them!
-
Around the Phoenix metro area would be awsome. If not here then somewhere in the Southwest.
-
I'm changing my wish. Originally I was wishing for a Vegas appearance. Now I'd prefer Tucson - Phoenix would be OK, too. :)
-
I would like to see him some time but I like reading his books more Especially the Dresden files. Any way the closest place he might show up to me would be Macon, Ga.
LOVE THE BOOKS J.B.
-
Well, my crew and I would like to toss a dozen more votes onto the fire for the hometown crowd... Love it when he works here in the Kansas City Metro. TRUE fans would move here to worship him properly, right? Why make the man come to you? ;D
-
SEATTLE. WE GOT THE GOODS BABY.

GET OVER HERE!!!

My friends and I would love to have Jim come to anywhere in New York, preferably near Rochester, and on a weekend lol.

Dear Jim.
Please be aware that I am willing to match this offer on any visit you would make to San Antonio, TX. Again, not a bribe, just a way to say thanks for coming.
Aaron
P.S. I also have bacon. And Texas Bar-b-que. ;D
-
Adelaide, South Australia! It's easy to find, just get a globe of the world, look for the exact point that's farthest from the United States as you can get, and there it is. Oh, so that's why Jim's never come here :(
-
Still would like to see him here at my place, Shannon and his sisters would be more than welcome to come too, because right now could REALLY use something to cheer me up this coming holiday season after my last year..but then again this would only happen in my dreams. :)
-
GenCon 2013. Where I and a small group will be running a 3-night, epic-scale Dresden Files LARP. More details to follow as soon as we can officially register the LARP with the Con, around January. But I have a hunch GenCon would do some pretty egregious things to get Jim Butcher on the official author track anyway.
(We have a character if you'd like it, Jim. A vanilla mortal wimp. :D )
-
No fair bribing him with Bacon!

Tell you what, we'll have a Halloween Party, have the pool open, we have a HUGE field behind the house, we can have a BIG bonfire, costume party, the whole bit, and he can come there, along with the family, can do larping, whatever..even set up a haunted trail ride if you want, we have some horses can use them to pull a wagon...anyone...anyone??
-
Just to put the vote out for anywhere in Southeast Michigan. I know many people who would fill the store for a signing, and I and others would gladly take him out to dinner and put him up if desired. (which I doubt, but you never know). I went to his Ann Arbor signing for Changes, but we apparently didn't rate a return for Ghost Story. :(

That sounds a touch snarky toodeep - it could be that his publisher had him going elsewhere or real life
intervened.

I'm not sure why that sounds snarky when you then turn around and agree with me. I assume that publishers do a complicated dance when determining where there will be signings, to maximize the return on the authors time and the rewards to his fan base in such a way that they feel it will help the sales the most. It is possible that they did not see an expected bump in sales or news articles or something of that nature from the Ann Arbor book signing when they came out for Changes, and thus they did not come out again. Saying that the publisher chose another location based on historical results or calculated effects of his time investment, is saying that we didn't rate another visit. That's not a diss on him or his publisher, but is what I assume. I can only hope that something changes this calculation for a future book, or that our fair area comes up again in the cosmic list of areas to visit. I don't really care why, I just hope he comes.
Real life interfering is a possibility as well, as always, which I did not address in my post because I generally don't attempt to theorize about personal lives; while I feel business decisions are fair game. :)
-
Okay, it just came off, to me, doesn't make it so, as a bit of a diss on JB.

I think the only place he has returned to recently is in MO (near his home base)!! Apparently he isn't good at traveling and so his signing tours are rather limited. They seem to choose a good mix of places across the country, but never A LOT of places per tour and no repeats as far as I can tell. He was in Boston last year, so I'm pretty sure if I want to go to another signing I'll be doing the traveling! Oh well...

It's not a question of return on investment. Penguin rarely has Jim visit the same city twice in a row, because they want fans all over the country to get their chance to meet him! Look at how many cities folks are clamoring for him to visit in this thread. There's only one Jim! Share the love. :D
-
Indeed. Share the love. Share it with San Antonio!!
-
California bay area needs some love.....

He's already gonna be in Cali like the day it comes out!

If I still had my old apartment you'd be welcome to crash on the couch, Wat.
Unfortunately no room in this place.

I get lost soooo easily! It would take me three days!

Ummmm, GPS maybe?
-
Ummmm, GPS maybe?
I has one..... Still happens....
-
So it's looking Cool for them. Chicagoland has been lucky enough to have two visits over the last three years. Mind you, on the off-chance a stop happens to be within 4 or 5 hours of home, I will be taking a ride, weather permitting :)
-
Yeah, Jim comes anywhere in the Lone Star State and I'm there.
-
Anywhere mid-indiana. preferably Indianapolis.
-
What areas/places would you like Jim to come to for the Ghost Story tour?
I would love for him to come to North Carolina myself for a signing or something, anywhere outside the state is just too far away for mwah.
I'm really hoping for Portland, Oregon, or possibly even Olympia, Washington. I live out on the Washington coast and those are the closest places that are even remotely likely. I could do Seattle, but the traffic getting to and from there is the absolute pits.

Makes perfect sense. I thought there were repeats in New York and stuff. Any chance in repeating locations every 2-3 books :)
-
I don't think Jim has ever done a signing in Iowa. At least not since I've been a fan. Cedar Rapids or Iowa City would be great, though a suppose a road trip to Des Moines isn't unreasonable. Though, I have to admit if he does a signing in Chicagoland, I'd still be tempted to make the trip.
-
I has one..... Still happens....
Get yourself a good road atlas, like the Rand McNally, which is updated yearly. For getting around in areas too small to be covered by that, I recommend a local county map, most of which are available through Barnes and Noble.
Dratted GPSs have gotten me completely turned around and to the wrong location more times than they've been of use. Give me a good, old fashioned map any time! Hmmm...which reminds me, I need to see if I can find a .pdf file of the RM Road Atlas for my netbook. Save on all of that paper.
ETA: COOL! Rand McNally has directions on their site! If you get lost easily, I suggest you give them a try: http://maps.randmcnally.com/
-
We are all waiting for Jim to show up in Toronto, Ontario Canada. It's clean up here and everyone is nice eh.
-
GenCon in Indianapolis next August would be cool Tracy Hickman has been there the few times I was along with several other writers it is a gaming convention so the DF RPG would fit right in easily...
Shibby ...
-
havent been to gencon since college, not since Living Arcanis was still around. I could maybe make the trip if there were dfrpg's going down...
-
I would very much like for Jim to do a book signing in South Florida like Ft Lauderdale, or West Palm Beach.
-
Hey, a sunny Florida trip in the winter might be nice for him, and an ironic way to celebrate the release of Cold Days!
-
Cincinnati, Ohio is very centrally located. Jim & Co could use my church's auditorium. It seats about 1000 & has 2 Giant screens so the folks in the balcony can see. It's new-ish. Of course, couldn't do Saturday or Sunday event. Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky airport is a Delta hub. I-75 connects MANY MANY states. We have Joseph-Beth Booksellers that could provide the book ordering facilities. Hotels here are very reasonably priced. I volunteer for legwork. NOW is not too early to be thinking about the book that follows Cold Days !!!!!
-
Indianapolis, Indiana or Louisville, Kentucky. Both are close to me and I've been dying to meet Jim in person.
-
I'll add my voice to this: Either the Mall of America anytime, or as previously mentioned: GenCon in Indianapolis in August.
-
I'll add my voice to this: Either the Mall of America anytime, or as previously mentioned: GenCon in Indianapolis in August.
GenCon.... definitely.... MOST definitely.
-
For that time frame, I ask for dragonCon. Its one of the few events in this part of the county, and a much more reasonable drive for me personally.
-
GenCon.... definitely.... MOST definitely.
I'll second GenCon, for sure, since I'll be there; though it's not exactly a perfect fit.
I'd suggest a Detroit suburb. One of the decent ones. Like Rochester Hills, Livonia, or Plymouth.
Perhaps even Ann Arbor, since it's more of an erudite town. Detroiters (like me) could do the 40-minute commute pretty easy.
-
I'll second GenCon, for sure, since I'll be there; though it's not exactly a perfect fit.
Perfect? No.. but damn good. I saw several Dresden cosplayers last time and the RPG sold out a couple years ago. GenCon has lots of authors every year.. Jim would just be the most popular. :)
-
Since I live right on the border of Indiana and Ohio, if he could do Indy, Dayton, Cincy or go back to Beavercreek it would be close to me. My daughter has talked me into going see him in Beavercreek the last couple of times he's been there and I'm sure she'd love to see him again. I still laugh when her teachers see her reading his books. She's been reading him since she was 8yrs old and met him when she was 9. She just finished the latest book, Cold Days, today after only having it less than 2 days so she's very eager for him to put out another one! LOL
-
Has anybody mentioned Planet Comicon in Kansas City yet? Cuz I would be all over that.
-
The New York-New Jersey area. I'm perfectly fine with NYC :)
-
Fan Days in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area is really good. I would love to see Jim Butcher anywhere in the DFW Texas area.
-
Eastern Iowa, preferably Cedar Rapids.
-
North Jersey would be nice
-
Dallas or OKC!
-
I would love it if Jim would visit Los Angeles. The Barnes and Nobel at the Grove would be amazing, but if you don't want to do the corp thing Romans in Pasadena is a legendary independant book store. I'm a newer fan. I began reading about two years ago when I finished reading every book ever written by my go to authors and my sister asked me what I wanted for my birthday. I said I wanted a book from a new amazing author that I could get into. She sent me the first three Dresden Files books. I loved them and have been hooked ever since. In the down time between new releases I read everything Jim Butcher has published. In turn I hooked my boyfriend and he hooked his best friend I've even gotten a few co-workers to become fans. Please come to L.A. you have a market. When I went about 15 minutes after the Barnes and Nobel opened to buy Cold Days I grabbed the book, went to the counter to pay and the sales person asked, "Are these books good because we just opened and I've had a bunch of people purchase this book?" I responed, " I've been waiting for this for months. The series is amazing though a bit culty.you should check it out." Then of course left to go home and finish reading it that day.

He was just in Redondo Beach two months ago. Hopefully he'll be back again before too long, though!

Twin Cities MN or somewhere within not crazy driving distance.
-
I want Jim to stay at home, enjoy his life, wife, and kids
-

BOOO!!! How dare you make the rest of us look bad by putting Jim's wants ahead of our own ;)
That said, I hope Jim knows how much we appreciate him doing signing so far away and giving the fans a chance to meet him.
-
terre haute, indiana. NOT indianapolis... its way easier for city folk to travel here then us 'country' folk to go there.

Croatia is indeed Europe, and Howl, our resident Croatian forumite, would be delighted. He will probably be happy with your comment, Fantazero. Sadly, we know it is very difficult that JB goes to Europe.
-
How about southwestern Ohio? We're having such WONDERFUL cold, snowy weather right now, I'm sure ANY author would be glad to visit! :D
-
Aloha Jim,
Please come to Hawaii hit as many islands as you wish just so long as you visit the Big Island. I am a long time fan that have your Dresden series in both print and audiobook formats.
Mahalo!

I've got my fingers crossed that there's a possible Dragon*Con appearance in the cards for this year. I know he did it fairly recently, but, well, I can hope, right? (Or next year, or the year after that...)
Alternately, a Maryland area signing or convention would be awesome.

Right there with you. On the DragonCon thing, not so much Maryland, thats a long way off and I dont know anybody there to couch-surf
-
I know Jim has expressed interest in doing Dragon*Con again. I don't know if he'll be back this year, but hopefully soon!
-
Hey, how about KANTCON (http://www.kantcon.com), but come as a player, not an author.
It's in Overland Park.

Well, how about Wichita, Kansas? There is a convention and a game store that loves his work, and would love to see him.

I can think of quite a few of us that would like to see him out east again. :D

Denver please Maybe then they would do a midnight release of the book!!! (Wishful thinking)
-
What would it take to get Mr. Butcher to come to Oxford Alabama?
-
Fishing and fun still available for the whole family at our trailer...it is even set between two hills, a great place for....well...anything. *L*
-
New Orleans PLEASE! ...A signing, a con... Anything will do!
-
Anywhere in the North Texas area, though Denton would be great.
-
Chicagoland, please :)
-
Sure, MX, you want to bring it back closer to WI again and we can get together once more and bring Chiro, too, and maybe meet all the ones we missed the first time?
Hey, better yet...we need a huge fundraiser for our accessible/integrated playground redo here in Janesville...want to bring him to this area and do that, accomplish two things at once, then we can drag others from MN, IL, WI, IA over too! After or the next day, we can all take a trip to Chicago to see Sue!!

Wisconsin-land works too. Would be awesome to see yas again :) Been a while since I've been up that way, could use a road trip. Car can handle a few folks as well. Got me a new phone and some recording tricks so should be able to do an upload of the recording same night. As long as recordings are still allowed at the venue.

Would enjoy meeting you and yours, Rasins :)

Nashville, TN!
-
That would be soooo great, and Rasins, you can come, too. I think I still have your old phone number, MX, in fact I know I do. *L* That would be sooo much fun to get together again, especially being able to have others there, too. Now let's hope it happens!

Louisiana, Pretty Pretty Please! Anywhere would be fine. If Jim comes, we will drive. There are several cons in New Orleans, some dealing with spooky stuff. There is also a new steampunk con in Baton Rouge, but Baton Rouge is pretty dull. Most of all, if I could have any place granted me, I would love for him to be a guest at the Jambalaya Writters Conference held, each year, in the spring at the Terrebonne Parish Main Branch Library in Houma, Louisiana. Houma is only about 45 minuites (south west) from New Orleans, and very hospitible. There are many people here who LOVE The Dresden Files!
-
Now that the date is known, and I have that week off do to advanced notice, a road trip does sound like a fine idea
-
Just let us all know!!
-
Hey, Alilisa and MX - if you guys can find a CON that is going on Next summer in the area, contact them and have them get with Jim's assistant and invite him to attend/signing.
That would be awesome.
-

We are returning to the Radisson April 12-14, 2013.
-
But next year will be 2014 *L* That's what I mean, next year it has a ?? for the dates in April. :)
Found the 2014 dates and location:
Odyssey Con 14 will be April 4-6 at the Crowne Plaza hotel on Madison's east side.
Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention with some gaming
-
I expect Jim's 2014 schedule has already long since been determined, for the most part. If you're trying to convince cons to reach out to Jim's agent, I'd suggest inquiring about 2015 or 2016 appearances.
-
I was kind of suspecting that, Priscellie, thank you for letting us know. I'll see if maybe I can figure out who to contact and get ahold of them. Thanks again. :)
-
Almost anywhere in the GTA (That's the Greater Toronto Area, for those who don't know). Or Victoria, B.C. -- as I need an excuse to fly out there again.
-
I'd very much love it if Jim could come to Chicago (or WI) during the release of Skin Games. I was planning on seeing him at one of his book signings in Chicago last year when Cold Days came out, but he had to call it off because of the stomach flu virus thing he got. :/
-
SilentSponge, if he comes to Wisconsin, you would be more than welcome to join the rest of us (points to the message on the last page). or even join us if we get the chance to get together at all before then.
Wisconsin would be nice, I don't remember him being there before...be a change of pace. :)
-
I'm still hoping for the chicagoland return visit to replace the one from last year, but if Pris's conjecture is correct, starting with a West coast swing migh negate chicagoland and focus more there with the ending as a return home for him in MO.
Still hoping, but thinking less of it happening this year.
-
Chicago proper if possible, chicagoland area if not.
-
I would love to see Jim appear at AKON in Dallas, TX. It's a yearly convention geared towards Anime, but I have seen qute a few cosplayers from the Dresdenverse! I know there are a multitude of Butcher fans at the KON.
-
RedneckWizard - I'd suggest that you have the con contact Jim's assistant and see if he's interested. Her contact info is here. (http://www.jim-butcher.com/contact)
-
Just talked to some one at Odyssey Com, in Madison, and they're working on getting Jim there, I was told they have a lot of fans on their staff, so that'd be awesome. 2015 is already booked in, but they're working on it. YAY!!
-

IMO, Orlando would be the most accessable place to do a FL stop. Even Miami would only be a 4 hour drive on the turnpike, Most of the rest of the state is within a couple hours.

Hehe, my father was once invited to speak at a conference in Portland, but nobody bothered to specify which one. He guessed incorrectly. Didnt find out until he arrived and the cabby informed him that his Hotel did not exist in that town...
-
Now that's embarrassing.
About as bad as an airline pilot landing at the wrong airport.

I didn't know there was more than a Portland. Which one is home of the Grimm's?

Oregon. And its actually filmed there, as opposed to so many northern city that are filmed in Canada.

Hey, you can't look at me like that Quantus, and post what you did *L*..ok, so you can! that was funny.

Has he ever come to the Northeast - New York City area?

He's been in NYC at least twice since I started working here three years ago. Each time missed him by >this< much. :(

Well, if he ever tries for a fourth time, and I hear about it early enough, I'd welcome the chance to be in the audience. Probably the only way I'd ever be able to.
-
Tampa bay Florida Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease

I would LOVE for him to come to Wisconsin. Anywhere from Milwaukee to Green Bay, and I'm there.
-
Not quite there, but fwiw the Skokie IL signing is about 1.5 hours from Milwaukee.

Wait...there's a signing in Skokie? where have I been? but that's near Chicago, isn't it?

Wait...there's a signing in Skokie? where have I been? but that's near Chicago, isn't it?
aye, June 4th :) Chicago proper is roughly a half hour drive southeast of Skokie. Priscellie posted about it last Tuesday. Had to shift my PTO but got the week off and will be there. I shall be expecting to see yourself and chiro as well, if you two have the opportunity:)

I certainly plan on being there.

Awesome! Would be great to put a face to the name if things work out :)
I certainly plan on being there.
Excellent :)
I looked at the directions...I got lost just leaving Wisconsin *LOL*
Use the Force! (Google :) )
Route 14, 12 and also I94 all lead to Skokie, with route 14 appearing to turn into Dempster which is a direct line into Skokie. The mall itself appears to be right on route 41 which can also be taken from WI.
-
I've enjoyed many an Americano at the ol' Skokie Barnes and Noble cafe.
(If you're GPSing your trip, pay attention to the address - Skokie has two B&Ns)
-
I may just stay home..wish it were closer, I'd definitely be there, I don't like driving that distance late at night, last time I got caught up in that dang thunderstorm and heavy downpour, ended up pulling off the road for about 20 mins. *L*
-
I'm hoping he comes to Dragon*Con for 2014 - I know it's a long shot with him going to Gen Con earlier in the month, but I missed him last Dragon*Con. Hadn't yet read his books at the time, and while I wanted to see him (I'd planned on starting the books - they were on a long reading list!) we just couldn't make it to his panels! Now I've started the series, and it's torture every time I finish a new one (it takes me a day, a day and a half, tops, and then I often have to wait two weeks before we can afford to get me another book - I hate the waiting!), but I'm already on Changes and can't wait for Skin Game (which comes out on my birthday)!
Rambling aside, if he can't come to Dragon*Con this year, it would be awesome if he could come to Columbia, South Carolina. I'd be first in line!
-
Actually, the place I'd most like Jim to appear is Here.
When I first joined the boards all those years ago he was something of a regular in these parts, and even had a dedicated sub-board for Questions to ask him, which was one of the things that kept me coming back. But as time went on, as his following grew and his free-time dwindled, we haven't seen him nearly as much (his last post looks to have been back in 2012, giving us that awesome insight into the Archive). There's certainly nothing wrong with that, quite the opposite, but we miss him. I personally dont do twitter and usually steer clear Reddit the way an alcoholic avoids bars, and those seem to be his primary online interactions these days. I, like many of us here, don't have the travel freedom to reach most of his tour appearances, and Ive had terrible luck being able to get online and participate with the Reddit AMA's, though Ill certainly try again with the one coming up in May.
So here's my idea: Lets organize a Q&A for the Boards. We could vote up a short list of Questions from TCF's questions compilation thread (http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,35666.0.html), or a fresh submission poll. It would likely be more efficient than some of the Reddit AMA's because we know the WOJ section, and also the sort of Questions he wont answer. We could even ask the Mods/Beta's/Special Collections Division to vet the questions ahead of time to keep it worth-while, weeding out things that have been asked before, or will touch on Skin Game, etc. Make it something that's not precisely a Live interaction, so nobody has to worry about being at work or asleep while it's happening. We just submit the list by some deadline and he responds when he has time; I know he's a busy man and I do not want anything to derail his work (Needs me some Goggles and mafia Cats, posthaste!).
-
I love the idea Q.
Git'er done!
-
I want him here too, so sounds like a good idea, if Jim Butcher wants to do it, I support this idea.
-
I love that idea, but isn't the "Ask Jim" thread similar? (Asking because I'm not 100% sure if that's the format, etc that would be used.) Whoa, just checked and there is no "Ask Jim" thread.....I'll respond when my mind gets back from vacation and I can think more clearly...no guarantees though.
-
I notice that Jim will be at Phoenix Comic Con this year. Any chance we could see him at Reno Comic Con November 21-23, 2014? I know we'd love to see him here.

You should send an e-mail to Sarah Skolaut (sarahskolaut@gmail.com). She can answer these kinds of questions.
-
Jim's schedules for 2014 and 2015 are booked solid, but you can contact the Reno Comic Con staff and see if they'd like to send Jim an invitation for 2016.
-
I would love for him to come Maryland and/or DC! ;D
-

Where's the +100 button...
-
I would love for him to come to NY!! Love him!!
-
I would love to have you come to Boston Comic Con on August 8-10th.
-
I would love to see him come to Atlanta this year.
-
Somewhere near the MS Gulf Coast, would be great. I'd settle for Mobile or New Orleans.
-
Since 2014 is full, I would love for him to come to DragonCon in Atlanta next year. I missed him in 2012 :o
-
I would love to seem Jim somewhere in the PA/NJ/NY area. I live in PA and would LOVE to get one of my Dresden Books signed. It'd be the highlight of my life.
-
Wisconsin, preferably southern or middle Wisconsin, but has he ever been to Wisconsin? Heck, he's missing a beautiful part of the country. *G*
-
Any plans for Jim to hit up Europe? I think I heard London mentioned - how about Berlin? ;D
-
Still hoping for Michigan, like he did, what 4 years ago now? So sad he no longer likes us :(
-
Hey, toodeep, least he's been to Michigan, still waiting for Wisconsin *LOL*
-
Are you guys kidding? I live within 20 or so miles of the guy and I still haven't seen him in Kansas. I KNOW he comes here, because he drives down to Oklahoma and while he COULD take the Missouri route, I doubt he avoids I-35.
-
Whoa, Rasins, really? You should just stop by and ask for directions sometime, take a nice supper along, etc...say..welcome to the neighborhood...oh yeah, you've lived here quite a while, well then...welcome home, again. ;D (just kidding of course)
-
LOL ...
Last time I did that ... did he thank me for beautifully fried eggs? Perfectly toasted bread? A beautiful glass of freshly squeezed orange juice?
No.
What I got was ... WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY HOUSE?
Some people just aren't appreciative.
-
*dies laughing* Nice try though, Rasins, I would have thought he would have appreciated a little home made meal and housecleaning!
-
You Guys are lucky..... I live in England..... No Chance of seeing/ meeting him :(
How much is a ticket to the USA? :)
-
Rich, JB is going to visit England next year. I don't remember the specific date but you should find it in the Jim schedule 2015 thread. (And if you think your situation is bad, think in me. I am in Argentina)

I would prefer if Jim would arrive via motor vehicle or aircraft. I would find it rather disconcerting if Jim just appeared. Is there a ritual involved in that, or do you just say his name three times?
-
I'm telling you guys, Jim should hit the Continent. A trip from Berlin to the UK wouldn't be so bad under normal circumstances, but on April 3 I'll be a week away from having a baby.
Berlin is an awesome city, Jim!
-
Ooohhhh sort of like Bloody Mary?
*Runs to the mirror and says "Jim Butcher" three times to see if he appears*
-
Better make sure you've got a greater circle ready for containment.
-
Summon him under your own risk.
-
*Runs screaming from the fire which ensued.* too late, toooo late!! Runnnnnnn.
-
Any chance of Jim coming to the Phoenix Comic Con 2015. Missed him last year.
-
I'd LOVE it if Jim would ever come to Minnesota, specifically the Twin Cities area, though I'd drive to whatever part of the state he was going to. I know of at least 4 or 5 other Dresdenites (is that the Official Name of the Dresden Files aficionados?) who would be overjoyed to come see him here in MN as well. If/when he ever does come to town, he should look into stopping by Uncle Hugo's in Minneapolis on Chicago Ave. It's practically the perfect place for him to do a signing!
...
P.S.: I'd also love to find out how to get into the Beta Foo Asylum (if that's even possible).
-
Actually we call ourselves loonies, but Dresenites works just as well. *nods and wanders off* muttering. I still think Madison, WI would be nice...halfway between Minneapolis and Chicago..yep.
-
Could we get anywhere in FLorida? For my sake tampa/orlando?
We do have a fairly large Con in August in Tampa...
-
I hope to see Jim at SDCC 2015! I highly doubt he'll ever make a trip out to Hawaii, so this is probably my best chance to meet him.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like he'll be going this year.

Would love for Jim to come to Edinburgh at some point. Surely it cant be too hard for him he can just take that Way that comes out under Edinburgh Castle. Half hour trip from Chicago from what I hear.

If you can make /those/ kinds of travel arrangements, Im sure he'd be up for it.
(Watch out for spiders...) ;)

I posted the below over on the 2015 schedule thread, but apparently this thread gets more attention, so I'm going to try again:
Any chance they'll be an appearance in Connecticut? You know, there's some schools up this way, Yale, UConn, Quinnipiac, Weslyan...uh...Southern CT State University. Oh oh, there's rich people here...but they're mostly concentrated near the NY boarder. Ok, ok, got it: there's Mystic Pizza, you know, the subject of that 80's movie! Right, then there's that whole thing with the owner getting nailed for tax evasion or something just recently. Women's college basketball! CT has that...that one UConn team. Um, there's the Groton Navy base? Nuclear subs? Maybe? PT Barnum's House - the circus guy....Uh, gambling...
...yeah...
In conclusion: State Universities, rich people, Navy subs, psuedo-famous pizza place from movie, circus guy. WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE?!
Jim should please come to CT and bring some of that JB magic with him.
...end of copied post.
-
Not that I personally know of any conventions or places to hold one here but, Indiana, Indiana, INDIANA! please :D
-
Any chance Jim could show up to one of the PAX Cons? (PAX Prime - Seattle, PAX South - Texas, Etc).
-
Any chance seeing Jim at Comic Con Germany in Stuttgart (http://www.comiccon.de/) in 2016 (June 25th to 26th)
-
I know I did a post about this in the About Jim section, but I wanted to see if anyone viewing this post had a likewise want of a Jim Michigan Visit. I know he does Chicago Visits and I thought that maybe on the way up to or back from he could set up a Barnes and Noble or even Books a Million visit. Heck It would be fantastic if he could do a Mid Michigan Community College visit, but I know that's probably asking for wayyy too much with his busy schedule of writing and touring.
-
Anywhere in the North East United States would be GREAT!
-
Philadelphia! I saw Jim in NYC a few years back, but I heard that that is pretty rare, despite the publisher being there. I got my now wife hooked on the Dresden books and she's never had a chance to see JB in person.
Any ways we can all encourage the scheduler to add a place to future tours?

Can he come to Fort Frances? We are in the middle of nowhere, but I could use some help converting more kids at my school to Dresden Files and Codex Alera.
-
How about some North Texas/DFW dates? That would be great!
Pretty sure if I meant him I'd have a new best friend lol.
-
If possible it'd be really coold to see Mr. Butcher in the Washington D.C. area.
-
Teslacon Close to Jim's home, a great venue to promote his new book.
-

I've been pushing Dynamite to try to get him at Baltimore Comic Con for a few years. They always seem like they don't know who to talk with to get him scheduled.
-
It would be awesome if he could come down to Megacon in Orlando, Florida ( or anytime, anywhere in Florida too!) I know James Marsters is supposed to be going to the mini Megacon in November too! It would be freaking cool if they both attended at the same time in the future.
-
He should come to San Luis Obispo, Ca! ;D
-
Actually... I'd like to see him right here, on his self named forum, even if it's just to say hi. :) although if he chose to grace us with some news on the new stuff or cool bits he could reveal about his stories with out spoiling anything, I wouldn't mind at all... We miss you here JB!!!
-
Yes! Very much so! He has not posted in ages and we absolutely miss him.
-
I agree with the two posters before me. :) But I guess he could be online sometimes and reading stuff, or people tell him what is discussed.
-
Also twitter is slowly eating the world (or at least Facebook's scraps) so that is becoming the standard venue for celebrities interacting with their fan-base.
-
Gen Con, and PensaCon would both be cool if he came.
PensaCon is end of next month and is in Pensacola Fl. I think he d like all the DnD and other gaming thats being offered too. :)
GenCon would be cool too!
-
Fort Worth or Dallas Texas
-
Come back to Chicago, or maybe move a little further north to Milwaukee would be even better.
-
San Antonio TX
-
Dragoncon! I would love to see Jim at Dragoncon!!! ;D
-
Tulsa, Oklahoma.
-
Comicon Scandinavia in Copenhagen Denmark - us European long time die hard fans(-natics ;-) can't wait to meet you!

I so need Jim to come to Little Rock, Arkansas. I'm in the process of hunting down a bookstore to beg them to invite him to do a signing or something. So many questions!
Please come see us, Jim, please????
-
Sydney Australia chances are he'd love to come down here and we'd love to have him. We don't have many conventions though.
-
Dragoncon! I would love to see Jim at Dragoncon!!! ;D
Jim will be at DragonCon this year (for at least the fourth year in a row) and is the Guest of Honor for 2016.
-
Yes, please... let us know when Jim will be coming to Houston. I met him when he was here at the last time and it was just wonderful.

-
Minnesota. Preferably somewhere in the Twin Cities, but I'd travel to Duluth and/or Fargo/Moorhead to see him here. Heck, I'd travel into dreaded Wisconsin to see him. :o :P :-[
-
Hamburg, Germany would be very nice. :)
-
I would snipe a wizard to have a chance to meet Jim at any of Polish conventions, preferably in my own town, but I wouldn't be picky.
-
Can you tell him Florida is desparate for attention? We have a billion awesome cons...
-
There are about a gazillion entries here, but I'll post in the name of fatalistic hopefulness! Yay! It would be wonderful if Jim could come out to Alpine, Texas. There's a university full of nerds (last year we hosted our first Big Bend Comic Con. It was tiny, but enthusiastic), and a fantastic local bookstore called Front Street Books. Some of the nicest people I've ever met work there. It's a million miles away from any kind of city, and about 20 miles away from the sun, but it's a great place to be and tons to do, especially if you enjoy looking at the outdoors. To give you an idea of distance, it takes me about a two-hour drive to go to a decent movie theater. I've never been able to make it to a con (too far, $$$), and he would have a small hoard of grateful fans if he could visit here. Hope all is well with him and that he's enjoying life!
-
Cincinnati.
-
If he could stop at Pensacon in 2017 that would be AMAZING. Our convention is getting better and better every year, and Mr. Butcher gracing us with his presence would just take the cake.

Hi there, I have been reading this awesome series since about 2006 or 7, I can't remember which, and since then I have enthralled my sister, father, grandmother, and girlfriend into getting lost in the Dresdenverse as well. However, in all that time (as far as I am aware) Jim has never gone North of the Wall to visit us here in Canada. Specifically ANYWHERE in Ontario, I will make the drive ANYWHERE in Ontario. SO, this is my plea to have Jim come to the Unseelie Court in the North!
-
I will be a WorldCon next week, I was expecting he would be there being a Hugo nominee.

He went to a con in Toronto, Ontario, in 2013. Hopefully he'll make it back before too long!
I will be a WorldCon next week, I was expecting he would be there being a Hugo nominee.
Not necessarily. He didn't go when he was nominated in 2015 or 2009. So many cons, so little time!
-
Hamburg, Germany would be very nice. :)
I agree =D (Or anywhere in germany)
-
The Northeast USA somewhere, anywhere I've never seen any where in the schedule that I would have to fly to see Jim.
-
LEXINGTON KY!!!!!!!!I cried when I found out that Jim Butcher had been in Lexington, and I missed it. :'( :'( :'(
-
Daisho Con in Wisconsin Dells would be awesome.
-
Great Falls, Mt. or, if that is not possible, Billings, Mt.
Billings is larger and might be a better venue.
-
I don't see anything on the schedule for July, how about NASFIC in Puerto rico?
-
Please be going to DragonCon (Again!) I can 'peat and repeat this. It makes a familiar chant. And it fits most children's melodies. Please be going to DragonCon 2017. Oh, Please be going to DragonCon!
-
Mysterious Galaxy in San Diego, CA or Vegas, NV
-
Planet Comicon in KC in Feb!!!
-
Somewhere in Europe for your fans there ;D
-
To repeat, a Cincinnati appearance would be appreciated.
-
Well, shoot. I love that Jim has found his Lady, but I hate that he moved to Denver.
The signing schedule for Brief Cases came out and there is no KC date. Closest one is Denver. UGH!
-
At his computer, working on "Peace Talks".
-
Any chance of Jim coming to Wizard World Comicon in Portland, OR in the near future? Or maybe ORYCON?
