DF Spoilers / Demon reach is Avalon or of similar origin?
« on: August 29, 2021, 01:42:49 AM »
I found this bit pretty interesting:

"In Celtic mythology, Avalon is associated with the afterlife and was even believed to exist outside of normal time. It was thought to be accessible by islands far off Britain’s coast. The Celts believed the islands were mystical gateways and referred to them as the Isles of the Dead. After Arthur was seriously wounded in the Battle of Camlann, he was taken to the island to heal. Sources claim the island was also the home of the Celtic goddess, Morgan le Fay."

Morgan Le Fay?  King Arthur being healed there (like Harry being healed on Demon Reach)?  Exist outside of normal time?  Like Demon Reach being created at different points in time?  Excalibur was also supposed to be created there, and is now located on Demon Reach.

I wonder if Demon Reach was a wonderful place before all the dark things were locked away there.

DF Spoilers / Who do you think the Vampires took from Eb?
« on: August 29, 2021, 01:20:29 AM »
When Harry said because they took Maggie from him, Eb said "her too".  It was almost like an afterthought to me like his hate for them was deeper than Maggie.  It came before her.

Eb is over 300 years old, and Maggie was around 100 when Harry was born.  So Eb went 200 years without other children?  I was thinking it may have been his wife who was taken from him, but now I'm wondering if Eb had a wife, and children before meeting Maggie's mother, and that's why he kept her at arms length.  He'd already lost one family, and when he had her, he raised her differently.

I think the way he talked about Harry and Maggie, and how Harry was putting a target on her back, and he was beyond livid about it.  He was very very upset.  Then his talk about the vampires reached the point of being over the top.  Even when facing Outsiders he took the time to be upset about the vampires..  This has to be more than losing some friends to vampires.  The only thing that makes sense is he had a family before Maggie, and her mother.

My theory is that Eb had a wife, and kids, and they were all slaughtered by vampires, maybe even turning them into vamps that Eb later destroyed.

What do you think?  What do you think could have driven Eb to the point of murderous rage finding out Thomas was his grandchild?  I can't think of anything else besides losing a wife, a child or more.

DF Spoilers / I can see why some of the gods would be in pro wrestling

This video is a perfect example of why.  I could see how in the Dresdenverse, this type of devotion could be powerful

DF Spoilers / Kind of confused about Old Ones and Outsiders
« on: August 24, 2021, 03:19:17 AM »
ok so from what Jim has said, the Outsiders hate reality because it's noisy.  But the Outsiders serve the Old Ones who used to rule reality before being cast out.  So it seems like the Outsiders are not actually connected to the Old Ones but serve them for some reason.  Am I getting this right?  Here is what I got from the Dresden Files Fandom:

"The Old Ones are an ancient race of demons or gods. They once ruled the mortal world, but were later cast out and locked away from reality.[2] Being primal spiritual entities, they cannot ever truly be destroyed. Not all are Outside, however; some, like the one known as the Sleeper, are on Earth, but imprisoned and entombed.[3]

Even today, they can be still active, feeding on psychic energy, primarily the fear and awareness of them present in humanity.[3] For that reason, the Venatori seek to wipe out knowledge, and thus influence, of the Old Ones in the Oblivion War.[4] The existence of the Old Ones is also one of the last things wizard apprentices learn about in a traditional apprenticeship.[3]

The Outsiders act as their servants and foot soldiers.[2]

The only known Old One so far is the Lord of the Slowest Terror."

So I'm wondering what the relationship is between them.  I mean the Old Ones appear to be from the Inside, so why would they be allied with Outsiders?  Or are the Outsiders, and Old Ones originally from the Inside until they were cast out, making them the original insiders?

DF Spoilers / Could Dresden have been wrong about Thorned?
« on: August 23, 2021, 06:37:14 AM »
Mab told Harry that she and Uriel had a common enemy when Arctis Tor was attacked, and Harry believed it was Thorned Namshiel.  However Harry, who is pretty darn good with fire didn't think he could have done that kind of damage even with Hellfire, in the heart if Winter.  Has it actually been confirmed that Thorned Namshiel was the culprit?

DF Spoilers / Outsiders origins
« on: August 18, 2021, 03:32:01 AM »
Alright I have a theory about their origins.  So much of the Dresdenfiles is about the power of Belief, and it manifests into actual Beings.  For example the belief in the season of Winter gives power to the Winter Sidhe.  So just the belief in weather creates a source of power that can be controlled by a Being of some kind.

So here is where I think Outsiders come from.  The fear of the unknown.  I think that the fear of the unknown and everything associated with it is what powers them.  It's why they are so completely alien, and terrifying.  Because they are a pure unknown, malevolent force.  They are all matter of mysterious terror.  I think that just about any mortal Being (and probably many Immortal ones), have a fear of what they cannot know.  TWG locked them out, and I'm thinking it's because TWG doesn't fear the unknown because all is known.  Nobody else has that though.  Everyone besides TWG has some insecurity towards the unknown, it's a primal fear for anything that thinks.  That's a lot of power going somewhere...

Just an idea of mine.  I also think that this unknown terrors could be a clue into Behind, Beside, and Before.  What do you think?

Thomas attempted to murder their leader.  He's missing, and at large.  He's close to a Harry Dresden who will now be marrying his sister.  I have to imagine that the Svartalves see this as an attempt by the White Court to assassinate their leader, and they are now protecting Thomas with the help of the exiled wizard Dresden.

DF Spoilers / How long did Thomas know?
« on: August 15, 2021, 05:16:05 AM »
So there is the question going around about how long Justine has been Nemfected.  Here is another one.  How long has Thomas known?  I just assumed he realized recently when NemJustine made him act, but now I'm wondering if he's known for months, or even years.  What do you think?

DF Spoilers / Drakul's other names
« on: August 15, 2021, 04:48:10 AM »
So Dracula is the son of the dragon, but that name has another translation.  Son of the devil.  Jim said Drakul is known by other names.  I wonder in the dresden files that Drakul is also known as the devil (opening up imagery of just how dark this character might be), but not tied to lucifer.  Two different people all together.

I also believe he may be Nidhogg, a dragon/serpent who gnaws at a root of the world tree, Yggdrasil.  This would be important as it would mean Dracula's name may have been literal.

So who else do you think Drakul may personify?

DF Spoilers / Mab's word play about the White Court
« on: August 07, 2021, 05:52:43 AM »
Alright so just an idea of mine.

Mab said that a marriage was needed between the White Court and Winter to form a strong alliance.  I don't really buy that she needs them, but she also cannot lie.  So here is what I think is going on.  Mab see's Harry himself as a valuable member of Winter.  He's her Knight, and something more (she hints about it).  My guess is some sort of weapon against the Outside.

Anyways she see's Harry as a valuable member of Winter, but knows that she cannot in the mortal world offer much protection to him.  After all, that's what he's for.  He's her weapon in the mortal world.  Harry being kicked out of the Council has made him very vulnerable.  So Mab pushes for the marriage.  This way Harry belongs to a group who can provide the kind of deterrent she can't.  It's not the same as the White Council but by his marriage to Lara if someone outside the White Court attacked him, it could be seen as an attack on the White Court, and most people don't really want that kind of trouble.

So my opinion is that this alliance to strengthen Winter is actually about protecting Harry who as Winter Knight is Winter, so Mab isn't lying.

DF Spoilers / What will Eb do?
« on: August 03, 2021, 03:36:49 AM »
So Carlos said that if Harry steps out of line they will send Eb to take him out (or Eb gets executed)...  So obviously this is going to happen.  What do you see Eb doing?  Will he come after Dresden, get executed, or turn on the White Council?  If he turns on the White Council what do you see him doing?

Could we have a White Council civil war?

DF Spoilers / Odin's Raven's
« on: August 03, 2021, 03:27:03 AM »
Who do you think they could be?  Muninn and Huginn are so connected to Odin that he's sometimes called the Raven God.  Their names mean mind, and memory.  They act as his eyes, and ears around the world.  If they are characters within the books, who could you see them being?

DF Spoilers / Epic Odin picture (bring your own)
« on: July 31, 2021, 10:03:22 PM »
Harry always sees these powerful Beings on a personal level, but they are so much more than that.  If Harry goes into the Nevernever, and is able to see their real, true form, what would you like to see?  This is pretty awesome.

This picture has Odin, and a human kneeling.  I see Odin, and this other person much like Odin, and a wizard.  The wizard is limited by his physical form, and Odin is no different, he's just so huge he can move way more power.  This size difference to me is a comparison of magical power, and capabilities.

Immortal Odin:

DF Spoilers / Hel in the series?
« on: July 31, 2021, 09:54:10 PM »
There are multiple afterlives in the books.  Hel in mythology is a lot like Hades.  She's the daughter of Loki. Baldur, son of Odin is there with her.  I can't help but think Harry will visit her, and bring a message from Baldur to his parents, Odin, and (I think) Mother Winter.

DF Spoilers / Did Carlos betray Dresden? Other things in the book
« on: July 31, 2021, 12:09:58 AM »
1.  In Battle Ground, Carlos tells Dresden that the Council had voted him out, and sited his killing mortal during the battle.  But that really doesn't convince me.  Why?  Because in Peace Talks, Eb informed Dresden that the Council was holding a vote to kick Harry out, and it didn't look good, and it was going to be voted on during the peace talks.

This is where I'm wondering if either Carlos betrayed Harry, or if Carlos is being manipulated.  Eb told Harry that he should go and talk to Council members.  Shake hands, and give his side of things.  He thought Harry could swing the vote in his favor.  But Harry couldn't because Carlos had already brought Harry on to his security detail.  Not only that but Carlos was in charge of who he put on his team.  So when Harry could have gone to speak to the Council to avoid being kicked out, he couldn't because he was on security detail thanks to Carlos.

It seems so suspicious that during the vote, Harry is kept away from defending himself because of a decision Carlos made.  Coincidence?  I don't think so.

2.  Does the Council know something about Mab that Dresden is clueless about?  Nemfected suspected?  Two people told Harry that a big part of him being kicked out was Mab.  Carlos said it started with Mab, and Eb said that him working with her was a factor.

I know that Mab isn't a "good person", but to my knowledge she protects reality from Outsiders, and even though she's pretty cold (lol), she's honest and as long as you aren't stupid enough to get caught in the Sidhe's web, you shouldn't have any problems.  And yet here is Harry being considered a threat because he's her Knight.  Why?  What would make Harry so dangerous working for her?  Is she a threat to the White Council?  Their actions are out of her purview, unless they are messing around with Outsiders in which case she might just send Harry to take them down.  But the Council is against Outsiders so it shouldn't be a factor.  Eb mentioned Mab having a known warlock as a Lady (Molly).  Again why would they care?  To me it sounds like they know, or at least think they know Mab has been compromised.  They are worried about her, and doing what they can to neutralize her mortal weapon.

3.  Someone is moving chess pieces around (Odin)?  Maybe it's just story plot, and I'm looking too much into this but here it goes.  Harry was manipulated into being at the peace talks, in my opinion.  He could have been defending himself at the Council but was unable to because of being brought on as security.  So this leads to him being kicked out.

However if Harry had been with the Council, it would have been a disaster for Chicago because the Titan arrived and only Harry was able to lock her away.  It's not only that though.  The Titan had been betrayed by the other Starborn.  If Maggie had been truly killed, Harry probably wouldn't have been able to bind her but he realized she wasn't because Mouse's body wasn't there.  The Titan realized she'd been betrayed which indicates someone wanted Harry to lock her up, but who?  Odin?  Mab? Drakul?

I don't know what it means but it feels like one group (or person) is using Harry for important tasks while another group (or person) is doing what they can to isolate him, make him vulnerable.  Or could it all be the same actor who's doing this?
