DFRPG / Re: Organizing an DF RPG Online Game
« on: March 28, 2013, 11:50:13 PM »
So let me make sure I understand this.  You're proposing to develop a chat site with a world set in the Dresden Files universe.  You then want to be able to have up to 100 characters in that world.  Those characters would be able to enter any number of ongoing campaigns run by (possibly independent) GMs.

Is that right?

Synobal:

No problem.  We got Tory and Edward rolling.  Bad news: Not playing again until Wednesday night.  But feel free to read the transcript.  I should have it up today.

It's a solid plan, and I like that you want to highlight what makes DFRPG unique.  I would suggest you have ideas for the plot and such (in case no one comes up with any great ideas on their own).  Other than that, have at!

OK, after a couple-week hiatus, we're back in the regular schedule starting this Wednesday, folks!  We still need to find out how EDWARD and TORY will deal with their Wing Kong experience; how JACK will deal with his new love (or should that be lust) life; and how FILII will handle an uber-assassin ghoul.  Looking forward to the continuing adventure!

Umm.  That would take a great deal of time actually as it is set up completely as a website so everyone in the game can edit it.

Sorry.

Went to see the site, HumAnnoyd.  I didn't get a chance to go through all of the pages, but I like what I saw!

Sanctaphrax:

Wow -- I hadn't expected such detailed feedback.  Thanks for it!  I'll have to double-check my calculations, and I've already started discussing your other feedback with the group.

Thank again!

Sanctaphrax:

Had a chance to (quickly) look over the settings.  I'll try to do a more thorough review later, but I like them.  Hang Over City, in particular, is beautifully done.  But both have a lot of good ideas and info.

Again, hopefully I'll get a chance to do a proper review later.

DFRPG / Re: Planning vs. Winging It
« on: May 23, 2012, 03:33:22 AM »
I do a lot of background development as far as the setting, locations, characters, and motivations go.

I do a moderate amount of planning as far as plot points.  I usually put together a plan that completes a plot arc, but don't get too involved in the details.

But, as Clausewitz says, "no plan survives first contact with the enemy" -- in this case, "enemy" being "players".  So I wing it from there.  I think the best part of gaming is when I've got a plan, and then one of the players says "What about ..." and I think "Dang, I wish I'd thought of that.  Now what will the reaction be?"

You should edit this to say San Fran Campaign Setting so people know which setting it is before they click.

I didn't want to do that in case this wants to become a general "Show us your campaign setting" thread.
