Hi all.
One of my players got themselves hit with a deathcurse. As fun as it is tormenting them with limited offensive ability it probably only fair to set a 'quest' to have it mitigated.
Any suggestions from the hive mind before I get too twisted with my thinking.

Make them make a deal with someone? The Winter Court is a distinct possibility, since they are destroyers.
"I will destroy the curse binding you if you do this Little Thing in exchange."
(Hint: the Little Thing might as well be the Torments of Sisyphus)
-
Well, what is the specifics of the death curse? Who applied it? What was the circumstances (apart from the caster of the curse dying)?
-
Maybe they could get rid of it by finding someone else who's willing to take it onto themself.

Ooooh! I like that!

Find the ghost of the one who Cursed them, and either appease it or defeat it in some spectacular fashion?
-
Kill him :D
And then bring him back.
It worked for Harry.

Die alone.
Omg, I never put that together. Apparently I'm slow.
But does that break the curse? When he dies again, will he be alone? (Again). Or is it a one-shot deal?

As of a 2011 WOJ, the answer to that is...ambiguous:
Now that Harry’s died, that whole “Die alone” death curse, is that over?
Was he not dead enough? Yeah, he got out from underneath that one. Sort of. It remains to be seen if he’s going to get out from underneath the rest of it. Which I’m having a very good time plotting out.

I always took the "rest of it" as a reference to his knighthood. That WoJ came out right after Changes.

Jim mentioned that a senior council wizard who did the equivalent of bringing in truckloads of tnt could emulate the nuke that is a deathcurse. So anyone with the magical mojo of a senior council member can probably make something that could destroy it.
He also talked about Mab being able to remove a hunger spirit messily.
A death curse is a ritual with a certain level of power. If it's a 17 difficulty ritual then a 17 ritual spell could probably tear it out, with you taking 17 damage in backlash.
You can also try to technically fulfill the curse.

Ah, interesting, I like that! And here Ive been trying to see how many ways I could parse "Die Alone" so see which other part he was talking about. " "alone"? Is he going to start loosing all his loved ones to some secondary curse?"
-
To the OP, another route is always to have the character work to incorporate the Deathcurse into their character. Let them take on an aspect of the Death Curse itself and see if there are any ways for them to Channel it. If they want to delve into it far enough you might be able to get away with treating the Curse itself as a sort of primordial Sponsor whose agenda is to make the terms of the curse come to pass.
What was the actual curse?

Sorry for the lack of reply - been hectic in the real world.
Basically I stole The Man Who Laughs from Chuthulu. So a distant (very) descendant used proxy power from the Outsiders to travel through time to start an Apocalypse. The character slashed his throat instead of doing mystery plot solving (fair enough, I'm always down with swift problem solving). The game mechanics are that he only rolls 2 dice when trying to harm others due to DeathCurse (infanticide?) PTSD

Hmm, Cursed By Posterity, interesting. What were the actual terms/wording of the deathcurse? Is it manifesting as a mental thing block type of thing or as a more overt/physical deal where bad-luck or some such is hindering him?

In all honesty the player doesn't know it's coming, as always I'm planning ahead. Next session is Sunday, but I don't want to perma-nerf the character (other bad choices have led to as loss of options). I like the idea of using it as an RP hook. The lines of the curse were something like 'By striking me, you're striking yourself' (Obi-wan esque) I was adlibbing as I was on the backfoot as had lots of mystery solving planned.
