DF Spoilers / Re: The truth about Harry and Thomas comes out?
« on: December 09, 2021, 03:13:39 PM »
If he can prove he was being coerced by Nemesis, then he would be okay, the Swartalves are after the controlling mind rather than the instrument of attack.

I agree this would let Thomas off the hook, but how would it be proven? You can't just say, "Nemesis made me do it." No one would believe that. Maybe if Nemesis or Justine admitted to it? But even then, who's to say what the real leverage or conversation was? Unless it was recorded or by some magic, they are able to get an undeniably true answer from Thomas and Nemesis, the Swartalves, wouldn't accept his innocence.

That's a great explanation, Conspiracy Theorist!

I agree that whoever was Warden last hadn't been there recently. Which then goes into another question. What does it take to be the Warden? Is the Sanctum Invocation enough? It is definitely the first step. Or does the Warden need to return to the island once every year or something to retain their Wardenship?

What connection are you talking about between Kemmler and the Island?

Kemmler was the last Warden of Deamonreach. I think the WOJ, or somewhere in the books, said that the reason for them fighting (or WW2???) was all to prevent Kemmler from returning to the Island; if someone could provide the exact wording, that would be appreciated!

DF Spoilers / Demonreach and the WC
« on: December 06, 2021, 07:16:56 PM »
There has been a lot of speculation about the White Council and a possible connection with the Senior Council. Regardless of the truth in that debate, what is known and clear is that the Senior Council (and maybe other members as well) know about Demonreach and are afraid of its power. After all, that was the main reason why the entire Council fought against Kemmler, to prevent him from returning to the Island. So my question is since the Council knew of the Island's power and were afraid of it, why didn't they have one of their own people bind it? Why would they leave that power open for any foolish young wizard to capture it for themselves?

It's also important to remember that your True Name can and does change over time. So just because growing up, you were called one thing doesn't mean that 50 years later your True Name is still that old one.

DF Spoilers / Re: How powerful is Ivy getting?
« on: November 27, 2021, 09:33:36 PM »
Honestly, I feel like Ivy was a lightweight in Battle Ground. In the Shed Aquarium battle, she fought many Denarians at once, but in Bettle Ground, she had "heavy things" floating around her. It doesn't make sense to me why if she was so skillful, she would use blunt objects as her weapon of choice. Why not a fistful of Mordite or lightning or some other more elemental or powerful weapon. While Ivy has a large magical "battery" and is very talented in some aspects, I think her human side prevents her from becoming the ultimate powerhouse she could become. Maybe as she ages, she'll learn how to use her power in other ways.

Update/edit:
On the other hand, maybe my thinking is wrong. When I was writing this, I was thinking of physical power. However, that's not what the Archive is supposed to be. While the Archive can defend itself, its main purpose and power come from knowledge. So in incidences of mass casualty (such as post Battle Ground), she can direct humanity in the most efficient ways possible and can preserve knowledge.

DF Spoilers / Re: What About Bonea?
« on: November 16, 2021, 05:43:09 PM »
I'm not sure why so many people get hung up on the fact that Bonea is Harry's "daughter." Yes, she is a creation between Harry and Lash, but she was not created by any physical action. I really don't see Harry thinking about her as his child. I know I don't.

Do guys think he is growing due to his relationship with Harry, or does he grow as the Za Lord's Guard grows?

I thought Lacuna was a Tooth Fairy, not the Tooth Fairy.

DF Spoilers / Re: Marcone the Informant
« on: October 25, 2021, 06:11:29 PM »
I like the idea of Marcone being an informant for the government; however, I just don't see it. For instance, what does Marcone get out of the deal? He already has little care for the law, so what can the government offer him to make the deal worth it? Also, if he is an informant and gets found out (which he definitely would), Lara, Mab, and the other signatories would not be happy with him. The one thing we know for sure about Marcone is that Marcone looks out for Marcone and, by extension, his people and property. Mab is much scarier than the US government and would destroy Marcone and his people if need be. Although it's a fun thought, I just don't see it coming true.

DF Spoilers / Re: More evidence Eb is sketchy

I get that.  Why wasn’t he… also… taking steps to contain Peabody?

Harry talks a lot about wizard hubris it's probably a case of that. Eb probably that that between himself, the other senior council members, warden old guard, and Harry there was enough things in place between Peabody and freedom.

Hasn't it been stated several times by WOJ that the prisoner is not Merlin or Harry?

DF Spoilers / Re: I wonder if Leah traded Harry's blood....
« on: October 15, 2021, 09:29:32 PM »
Was there something in one of their conversations that Leah told Harry all she has ever done is tried to protect Harry? Thinking she said this at one point (maybe during GS?). Either way, I feel, at the very least, Leah has always tried to protect Harry in her own way. So I don't think that she would have traded Harry's blood.

"Contemplation," I responded quietly. "He is to be shielded from any communication with other prisoners not enduring the same protocol."

Quote
"There was one prisoner held below in a kind of unique stasis, something that could most closely be considered sleep, though he could also awaken and perform limited communications for short periods of time."

On a recent re-read of PT, I came across these two almost through away lines, but I think they could have large story implications. I assume the original prisoner being held in status is the one from Skin Game. Assuming this is correct, then Thomas can talk with that prisoner. Will this be a good or bad thing for them both? What story things might come up because of it? Thoughts?

I was able to create a thread saying the exact same thing! Killing Molly and killing the current Winter Lady are two different things.
