*Sqeeee!* ;D ;D ;D ;D
Happy dance!! I'm even off that week for Norwescon--too bad Jim can't hang around for that, but I suppose the California fans want to see him, too...
-
Pout :'( Jim's finally in my neck of the woods and I don't have a car to get from the Tri-Cities to Seattle nor can I get to Norwescon eather. >:( grumble, grumble, grumble.
-
Check out the "mapping" thread and see if anyone else is from the Tricities area, maybe they'd pick you up if they're going. But since it's a Tuesday, I doubt it--doesn't hurt to try, though!
-
Well I just found out I can't get off work. :-\ Oh well.
Edited to add: I checked out McAnally's Map, and it's seems there's only 3 of us
in Washington. Two on your side and me in the Tri-Cities.
-
Really?! I'll have to go back and look. last I heard there were about six of us. Hmm, wonder where we all went?!? ???
-
I WILL BE THERE!!!!! I swear to you!
-
I WILL BE THERE TOO!!! I swear back at you!
:D
I'm 5'9", skinny with (dyed) red hair and glasses. I'll most likely be wearing black and red.
Say hi if you see me!
-
Yay! I will definitely be attending.
-
Ok, this is funny. Anaka was just in Houston, commenting on missing Jim at the romanticon down here in April....
-
I know. Ask and you shall receive, I suppose. :)

OK, I'm 5'9", not skinny (but not really fat either). I look like I do in the signature except brown hair and less fangs.

I wish he would come to Norwescon as well. When you are at the convention, seek out the Chair and suggest we invite Jim to a future convention.
-
I wil be there and bringing a few friends that I have gotten hooked on Jim's books.

1. I have to find out who the chair is.
2. We must gang up and follow said chair around until he/she invites Jim (and Shannon!) just to get rid of us.
3. Celebrate. :D

Her name is Tracy.

Muah ha ha ha! (<--evil laugh, dontcha know!) ;D
-
Mack, that's a great sig. (Not just the pic, which I like, but also the cropping, etc)
-
I'll be the bald man with the Mac Powerbook recording Jim's event in Seattle. :) I'm happy so many of you will be there!
-

Yeah... soon I'm going to start making a WHOLE MESS of Dresden related fanart. I just got to find the time to go through my Dresden Files episodes and make screen caps.
Storm Front gave me sooooooooo many ideas for art.
-
heh I live in tacoma. . .now if I can just convince my dad to take me *evil smirk*
does anyone know if it's going to cost anything?
-
It shouldn't cost anything. I've never heard of paying for author signings at bookstores. Conventions, yes but not stores. However, I've heard the parking there kind of sucks.
If you look up University Bookstore Seattle you'll find the website with contact info for the author signing reps if you have any questions about it.
Hope to see you there! (I'm carpooling otherwise I'd offer you a ride... I'm in Gig Harbor!)
-
ah lol thanks for the info I'll give a call and see whats up. I don't think I'd have to hard a problem convincing my dad LOL he's just as a hardcored scifi/fantasy fan as I am . . .he DID create me in more sense the one in that aspect ;D

Here's the low down on University Bookstore:
There will be enough parking. It's not that bad come 6:30 at night on a week day. They give you a ticket that you bring into the store with you. If you can, do not buy your book early and bring it with you; buy the book at the bookstore. If you do that, your time at the event will be covered and you won't pay a dime for parking as they will stamp your parking ticket. Plus, it's just a courtesy to buy your book at the store that is hosting the event, in my opinion.
I think this will be one of Duane's larger events, so get there early if you can. Duane is the head of science fiction/fantasy at the U Bookstore, and he always puts on a good show. To get an autograph, it costs nothing. But like I said, please buy your book at their store -- if a bookstore doesn't show good sales of an event book, the publisher may cut back an author's tour next time. We don't want that to happen with Jim. :)
If you have any other questions about the U Bookstore event, just ask. I live two miles from it and go there for most events.

Here is a countdown for those of us.
COUNTDOWN (http://www.timeanddate.com/counters/fullscreen.html?mode=a&year=2007&month=4&day=3&hour=7pm&min=0&sec=0&p0=234)

Since it appears my post caused some confusion -- which I don't know why, it doesn't use the plural book(s) anywhere haha -- you can bring all of your books in suitcases for Jim to sign and that's perfectly fine. Just be sure to support the bookstore by either buying the new book there or buy some other book you've been wanting. The bookstore puts a lot of time and energy into making these events possible and we should support them with a purchase or two for that time and energy.
That's all. :)

Glad to know there's good parking! I was going off the websites warning about limited parking.
I plan on buying the book there, because after all, it technically doesn't even come out til the 3rd anyway. At least according to B&N.com
*squee we get Jim on the release day!*

Thank guys. So you'll deffinately be able to recognize me there. I'm hoping to be there at 5:30pm. Avoid a rush and read some of WN before Jim signs it.
Do you think he'll sign my shirt if I ask him nicely?
-
Greetings one and all. It has been several months since I have been able to get on. Wow. A lot of new faces. Given that I live in Lynnwood (a suburb of Seattle), I will be there as well with a small disposable gift for Big Jim. Hopefully he will let us take a picture with it.
Is Sulien still around and is she planning on coming?

Oh thank God, I'm not the only one bringing something for Jim! My friends have been teasing me mercilessly about it... ;D
Haven't heard from Sulien...
WB Lord Nedd!

I am hoping that he will like it. It took a bit of time to get it looking right.

-
Ooooh! Neato! Yeah hopefully you can get the pic! ;D
Edit--Squee! Time to go meet my friend!!! See you all there! ;D
-
I just made the "SplatterCon" Badge.
read this thread to see Images (http://www.jim-butcher.com/bb/index.php/topic,2416.45.html) of them.
At first I thought of just wearing it, but maybe I'll give it to Jim. *shrug* Maybe.
As I made it, I felt like I've gone from Strong Devotion to Pathetic Obsession. :P
-
My girlfriend is making googly eyes at me and rubbing her cheek on my arm, saying "You love me, don't you?"
She wants this:

BTW, how tacky would it be to wear the SplatterCon!!! shirts to the Romantic Times con?
-
I'M BACK! I got my book AND my shirt signed. I also gave Jim the SplatterCon badge I made.
I asked Jim a question and he sarcastically mocked me. It was cool.
As I left, I said "hello" to Lord Nedd. Cool hat.
GREAT DAY!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Darn, I couldn't get anywhere near Lord Nedd because the line was so crazy. I just happened to see him holding his hat while looking for a seat.
I didn't see you Mack, and I did look! But I just downloaded my pictures and I think maybe you're in one... I'll post them later (after I read White Night!) Sorry I missed you!
He seemed to like the present I gave him...
What question did you ask?
-
I was like the second person to ask him a question and it was about Harry's mom.
I was seated in the second row.
What did you get him? And did you see the painting of Paul Blackthorn that Jim got. It was beautiful!
I recorded a majority of the Q and A. And I'm going to try to put it on YouTube as quick as I can.
-
BTW, how tacky would it be to wear the SplatterCon!!! shirts to the Romantic Times con?
Not tacky at all! SplatterCon!!! shirts are appropriate for all occasions, including weddings, funerals, and nudist retreats.
I recorded a majority of the Q and A. And I'm going to try to put it on YouTube as quick as I can.
Score! I can't wait to listen! Thanks, Mack.
-
It may take awhile. And may not look too good.
1. I have a crappy video compression program (suggest one to me if you can)
2. I got about 37 minutes out of 1 hour and 20 minutes. I ran out of tape!!! I only brought the camera because it was the only camera I have to take digital pictures, then it came to me that I could record how freaking funny his is!
3. 37 minutes of pure footage on a computer is almost 10 gigs of memory and YouTube wants it 100MB or lower.
4. You hear my AWFUL laughter on it. I didn't know I had such a bad laugh, until I watched to tape over.
And Priscella, Jim remembers you!

I prefer my nudists without all the Splatter ;D

What format do you have the file in currently? Check Videora.com for all sorts of onverters (free).

avi.
Scanned my book.

I'm psyched, yesterday was my FIRST real author signing. (I went with my mom once to see Terry Goodkind, but I'm not counting that.)
-
Did Anaka make it? Huh? *pokes Anaka*
Now I'm curious about Mack's laugh.
-
Mack, YOU WERE IN THE SECOND ROW?!?! So was I, until two seats opened in the first row!
I was originally sitting right next to the woman who did the painting!!! (erinallen.com, btw)
Gaaah we should have all worn name tags or something! Or brightly colored hats!
I got a few minutes of Jim talking, too, but not much. My camera only has about 15 mins of memory on the card I have now, and that goes down with how many stills I take (of course.) I also tried not to laugh too much, and so now I sound even dorkier on the video... Ah well! We can have a "who's laugh is more annoying" thread! ;D
I remember the Harry's mom question... Damn wish I'd known it was you... :(
-

Now I'm curious about Mack's laugh.
I did indeed. AND I managed to get my book signed, say hi to Jim (who did recognize me, booyah, even though I can reliably state I look nothing like I did back in the day) and make it out of the parking lot one minute before they'd have charged me an extra three bucks. It was a great event, and I'm very glad I went.
-
Oh! And Jim evidently know a 6'9" Brit named Charlie. I meant to ask him about that, as while a nation may produce any number of inordinately tall men named Charles, I can't help but wonder if we have a common acquaintance. :)
-
He knows Charlie from AmberMUSH. MUSH degrees of seperation.
Question is, how did Charlie come up in conversation?
Discussing Harry's height?
-
OK!
I got "Butcher in Washington Pt. 1" on YouTube. I paste the link in Dresden Files - The Books forum.
I just gotta wait for YouTube to aprove it.

I can't wait! *bounces*

And Jim DOES say, "Polka will never die". That was cool.

Someone asked if he ever based characters on real life, and aside from the Shiro character--who is based on real people--he said Harry was kind of based on his extremely tall, lean friend Charles (who you would want with you while walking down a dark alley.) :D
-
*blink* Ok....I so need to ask him if that's our Charlie or not.
That just put a whole new spin on Harry. If it's our Charlie, the man is all corden muscle on a stretched out frame.
Dear god, it can be a small world. I haven't seen Charlie (RL) since before Jim met him.
Dear god. I haven't seen Charlie since before Storm Front.
I'm going to go crawl in a hole, now.

If he's English and 6'9" tall, then yes, same one. ;D Oh, often with women's numbers overflowing his pockets, too, Jim said. ;D
-
The discussion about Charlie will be on "Butcher in Washington Pt. 3"
-
Hey look!
I /am/ that Charlie. :)
Though I have more hair and a LOT MORE WEIGHT these days. (And am only 6'7, not 6'9 :) )

So, you no longer have to run around in the shower to get wet?

So, you no longer have to run around in the shower to get wet?
LOL!
SCA armoured and being over 30 has put 50-60lbs on me. :)
(I'm threadjacking again. At least I'm being helped to threadjack by a mod!)
-
It's a tangent. It's a gift.
6"7" and 60 lbs heavier.
This is a very small violin. ;)
-
Hah! That's really funny as hell. I'm deeply amused now. I knew we had to be looking at a statistically small sample there. :)
-
Hells bloody freaking Stars and Stones crap Bells!!!!!!!!! I missed the signings up here. >:( Crap. *kicks self and slumps away to be miserable*

I'm over 30 (barely) and I have yet to put on any weight. I'm actually 5 pounds lighter than I was in high school. ;)
Sorry you missed it Sulien! I saw a couple people from the board (but not the one who was only a few people away) but didn't get a chance to talk to any of them...
-
I (naturally) had so little body fat it was almost dangerous...until I hit 32. Now, I look like a leprachaun.

With or without your lucky charms? *snicker*
My Mom finally gained weight in her 50's. I figure that's when I'll do it, too. ;)
