DF Spoilers / Re: Battle Grounds and Chandler
« on: February 13, 2021, 01:22:16 AM »
Even more reason to believe he was turned by Drakul.

Here are the realistic options I believe.

1.  He was turned to the Black Court
2.  He's alive and working with Drakul (Black Council?)
3.  He was sent to the Outside.  Harry asked what happened to people dragged there by those creatures and Eb's response was "We don't know".
4.  He killed him.
5.  Drakul has abucted him, and has bent him to his will via torture, mental manipulation, or something along those lines.  Those methods lead to insanity.  I don't think Langry himself could stand against Drakul's will for long.  Drakul is just at a whole new level of power.

Whatever the case, it's bad.  I don't see Chandler being alive unless he's a bad guy, or driven insane from mind magic

I tend more towards the Chandler was abducted scenario, Yet I can also envision a way for him to be alive and still on team «evil bastard».

The way I see it is that Drakul could have done a few things when he sent Chandler away.

1. Chandler was already on his team: he sent him to safety.(Team evil all along scenario)

2 Drakul sent to a holding place for his posterior motive.
 a. Poor Chandler might be turned,
 b. Simply killed after Drakul has gotten what he wanted from him
 c. convinced to join Team evil of his own volition
 d. tortured into insanity (first possibility where he could still be alive and not evil but damaged)
 e. kept prisoner for some unknown reason (second possibility where he could still be alive and not evil. But lets face it this one is unlikely)

 3. Drakul did a «sent to Outer Mongolia». Meaning he sent him away to simply get rid of him without any further plans for the poor Chandler. In which case
 a. Chandler is dead (sent in an inhospitable place like in the sun, in hell, outside of this reality or where ever you can imagine the poor lad)
 b. Chandler is alive but unable to come back hence his not coming back. I can see Chandler being sent in an inhospitable place and being in a constant fight for his life. (this is in my mind the most not unlikely scenario for him being alive without being on team evil. In this case Harry and Ramirez could have a reason to bridge their divide and go rescue him  :) ).

I think we will see Chandler again in Mirror Mirror, he and Harry will save one another, become best buds and he will be Harry's path back to the White Council.

I also get a feeling that Dresden and Chandler will meet again. If not it would feel like something important was left unaddressed.

As for when, where and how, I just don't know I can see so many good ways this could play out. I would like your view to be the right one but I fear Mr Butcher will go for the path that will optimise Harry suffering. Besides, Drakul hated Harry's lack of ''gravitas'' while Chandler has the manners and education to fit the bill. Furthermore, Drakul gave me the impression of being a planning sceamer that could make use of a lone wizard trapped in a dimension of his choosing.

All that said I'm pretty sure Mr Butcher will find an entertaining twist to that story.

I know it sounds short, after such a well thought out theory, but yeah it makes sens.  ;D

I think will get to see that no one see it's self as «black council». Sure lots of wizard are in cahoot to advance there agenda but it's probable that none of them think they are on the wrong side.

I think Harry knows he's entangled with far to many dangerous actors. He probably hates it but it's been a necessary evil to stay alive while he was in untenable positions. I think we will see him reflect on just how bad some of those ''allies'' are. We might even see him turn on some of them.

All that said thanks for the theory.

Betty the T-Rex? .... Wait a minute, what timeline am I in? 😂 It's still Sue isn't it?
Because of his beef with the fomor he needs a combat morph I'd say actually.(animamorphs nerd lol)
*A shark most definitely, I think a hammer head lol, suits his mindset.)

Oh my, you are so right it's Sue. Thank you so much. Seems like Harry has a little something for Susans...

Yeah I guess your right. If the formor have to get dealt with it's going to need to be on their turf. It's the worst possible turf for Harry and you know how JB likes to make things hard for Harry. All that to say « Harry needs a [marine] combat morph » and the a hammer head shark would fit, it's bad ass while still being a bit goofy (Just like our friendly neighbourhood wizard).

LOL! Every time I've read "Goodness gracious" I am reminded of "Astérix in Britain". I have the Spanish translation, and the British Celtic people spend most of their time exclaiming "¡Bondad graciosa!", which of course is the literal translation of Goodness gracious. The first time I've read that Astérix, I was a little child and had never heard that phrase. I thought it was an invention for the book. The first time I realized it was an actual phrasing (I think I was watching a tv series) I almost fall of my chair  ;D ;D

Also, thank you, that is a nice thing to say. And yes, I bet your little ones demand a little of your time.   Part and parcel of your job.  :P.

I am looking forward to a new Dresden book with more interest than I had in years, because I really want to find some answers but,as I just enjoy Jim writing, I will be happy when The Olympic Affair is ready.

Sorry for a late response. It's been such a long time since I have read an Astérix. I Use to look at those when I was a kid. They made a few movies out of those the second one «Mission Cléopatre» was quitte funny.

To the point I'll read every book JB will send our way. the more the merrier.

I believe in his desire to one-up Marcone.

If only I could like your comment just like in Facebook I would!

Quote
But what shapes, and how many?

Wolf is obviously a lock, given how many times people called him a wolf of late, and his association with the Alphas.

But what else? Something that flies and something that swims, like Iron Druid?  Something that let's him spy like a good P.I.?

I would love to see harry turn into a non undead version of Betty the T-rex.

As for the PI stuff, he could go with the proverbial «fly on the wall».

As for water with the beef he has with the formor, I don't think swimming is such a good Idea for Harry until they are dealt with.

For the time being I guess you are right about Eb. Then he should go back to River shoulders and revisit theories with Bob. He might have to bribe him with a bit but he could probably learn from his old assistant.  :o

I don't think he will end up with anyone, he will be happy with his grown daughter, her children and Mouse.

You are clearly more of an optimist then I am. I mean, I guess you're right  he won't end up with anyone, but I would not bet on Harry getting to be happy with his grown daughter, her children and Mouse. Nope I see him dying doing the right thing(die alone for everyone he loves).

If there was a like icon like in face book, I would have like your post 8).

Looks like you are right Harry needs lessons it's hinted many times in PT/BG. Just how he describes how other practitioners work (Eb, Carlos and Thorned come to mind).

I really think he should take River shoulders offer and maybe resume training at is grand-pa. Honning his skills to better channel his brute strength would help Harry a great deal.

If he improves his quarterstaff techniques fooling around with Lara its all good stuff.

The larger the saga the more probable that I don't live to see the ending. But I want the story to be good, no matter how many books it takes.

Goodness gracious no!!!!  I don't often take the time to write on this forum (3 young ones including a 3 weeks old takes quite a bit of time), but I'm always happy to read your takes and theories on the dresden saga.

That said I'm looking forward to any books JB, will give us. :)

Can I ad Elaine to this lot? she was a tough cookie and it always looked to me like there is more to her story then Harry lets us know.

I'm very curious about what she was up to during theses last few years since we last saw her. Any of you fine folks have an idea?

Maybe it's Thomas' car?

Yeah it makes sense, Harry looks like he has is material needs covered by winter. And your right Mab would take issue in Harry driving a car you need to be shameless to choose has a ride. So I would not be surprised to see him do it to any her, but he is going to need an excuse to go about it.

All that said I'd like to see Harry making Mab angry by driving a joke of a car...

I want to know what kind of car Harry was driving when he and Thomas arrived at Molly's... I just can't believe that Jim ignored that on purpose... This is the first car Harry's driven since the Beetle and the Munster Mobile, as far as I remember.

I had not thought about it. But you are so right, this was left unspecified for a reason. I have a feeling this car is going to be either awesome or a good joke.

@Snark Knight

The scenario you are hinting to is even better. The council regroups around Critos and becomes a real nuisance which need to be confronted. That way the irony would be hard on Dresden. He ends fighting the council to uphold the legacy of the old council he reeled against for so long. :)

How about.

1. The accords are no more.
    - A major power or major powers decide not to abide by the rules and either kill Mab or impose a crushing defeat upon her when she tries to enforce them.

2. The white council is no more.
    - The counsil has been had some serious losses over the years with the war against the red court, the trouble with the fomor and the damage caused by Peabody that group has been diminished.  A heavy blow to the senior council (let say Ancient Mai, Langtry and Eb are killed) could do away with the organization has it existed for centuries...
