Does the poison from fists ignore toughness power armour?

DFRPG / 1st Law Breaker Stunt
« on: March 04, 2011, 08:51:44 PM »
I was wondering if a character has the 1st lawbreaker stunt and wants to use it to help him blanketly kill would you let him, tecnically killing a red would not be breaking the law but I still think after spending 2 refresh on a power he should be able to gain some advantage from it in the campaign. I suppose the same goes for mind-hacking fae etc and other law violations.

DFRPG / How big would a sword have to be to count as weapon rating 4
« on: March 02, 2011, 08:50:21 PM »
I was thinking how big would a sword have to be to get weapons rating 4, Tecnically weapons 4 is for weapons which have the effectiveness of grenedes and above but would Guts Sword from Beserker (Sword as long as a tall person and as fat as a slim male) count as weapon 4 considering its overwhelming size.

DFRPG / Recovery Powers plus undead
« on: March 01, 2011, 10:27:47 PM »
The living dead power say you do not recover from concequences naturally but you also don't die, if you take a recovery power and the living dead power do  to you still get the adavantages of the recovery powers and heal concequences?

DFRPG / Fairy Granted Toughness Powers
« on: February 21, 2011, 11:52:06 AM »
Most of the Sidhe Knights get toughness powers with a catch of cold iron etc but do not gain the usual negative reaction to the catch (fix rides a motorcycle works with metal and wields a sword) beyond loosing the armour. Does this mean that any human character granted toughness powers by fairies should be able to use and interact with iron without consequences or just the knights?

DFRPG / Liquid Luck potion
« on: February 16, 2011, 01:18:52 AM »
One of my real World PC wants to create a Luck Potion circa Harry Potter, mechanically it is an easy trick to pull just putting the aspect lucky or very lucky on the character but from what I can tell from the books something like this would be impossible, does anyone have any ideas what would be an appropriate alternative to a luck potions to fill her slot which will give her wide ranging open benefits?

DFRPG / Grappling Human Shield Rules
« on: February 14, 2011, 06:10:58 AM »
I would make sense with a sufficiently high might modifier a PC should be able to use a Human Shield as a defence whilst grappling (you would probably at least need a spin on the grapple roll to justify this) what would the rules for this be would it count as a supplemental action and receive a -1 or worse and what would the damage be to the shield if you succeed in defending with it would it be full damage minus what they roll for endurance

DFRPG / Losing True Believer Powers
« on: February 11, 2011, 10:00:01 PM »
If a True Believer (in God) character went around acting utterly against their faith showing no mercy and choosing combat as his primary means of dealing with any in game problems would it be right for a GM to take away his righteousness power and holy touch power as long as he gave the character a rebate in refresh as the GM is unwilling to kill the character off as he is proving too much fun.

DFRPG / Limits of Defence Stunts ?

In the book when it talks about the limitations of stunts it says you can get a plus one to attack accuracy does this apply to defense?

DFRPG / Statting a Homunculus (FMA rip)
« on: February 05, 2011, 11:52:00 PM »
I was trying to stat multiple Homunculus/Artificial Humans (the backstory being that the Homunculuses was created in a Experiment by Kemmler on the Easter Front to prove he could become God and that they were made using the souls and bodies of multiple sacrafices). For a Eastern Front based Horror investigation game.

I was trying to stat the Homunculus similarly to the ones show in the anime in Full Metal Alchemist so they would have near instant regeneration (mythic regeneration with the catch its limited to about hundred full regenerations) and an assortment of other power including shadow manipulation, A Combat Hacked Version of Cassandras Tears , Physical Immunity with Catch of Thamaturgy or Necromancy etc. Each of the Homunculus is meant to provide a party of 5 submerged PC with a hard fight.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Here one I made earlier

Greed
+1 (Immunity and claws requires Perfect Shield form)
-7 Physical Immunity (catch things that can reasonably affect a being made out of an indestructible carbon-based substance)
-5 Mythic Regeneration (catch limited to a number of Philospher Stones each containing 20 stress)
-1 Claws
-2 Inhuman Strength
-15 Refresh

Is it too overpowered ?

DFRPG / If Humanity found out about the supernatural world would it 'win'?
« on: February 04, 2011, 07:45:42 PM »
I read this on one of the other posts

Although Wizard's cannot mess with people's mind, Fae and other supernatural could. I think if humanity did discover the existence of the Supernatural, it could go as badly for them as for the Supernatural factions. But that is another discussion for another topic.

It made me wonder if humantity did find out about the supernatural worlds and its predatory nature would it win the ineviatable war that would follow. I think it probably would win against the vampires because of thier weaknesses but how would it deal with the rest of the supernatural world and would the white council be on the side of the mortal or the supernatural world.

DFRPG / Does Incite Emotion Despair come off Deceit or Intimidation?

Does Incite Emotion Despair come off Deceit or Intimidation? Just wondering as either could work in my mind.

DFRPG / The letter not the spirit of the Law
« on: February 02, 2011, 11:17:50 PM »
I was wondering how many of you have come across some wonderfully orginal ways to kill with magic and not get lawbreaker either by mechanic ( i do this which causes this to happen which causes someone to die) or by tecnicality.

One of the coolest ways I have seen this done was with a Scion of Hel who had a sponsored magic called Dark Waltz which meant he could give power to ghost and other spirits he then used his ghost sight to get in contact with the spirit of the people killed by the big bad and used inspire rage to turn them geist and then fed them power via a ritual of 30 complexity. He with ghost speaker directed the now powerful ghosts to the big bads layer and waited until the sounds of screams died down. The GM stated that about 5-10 inocents were killed in the attack but as the scion didn't carry out the attack and it wasn't his will that choose the fate of the people inside he has not tecnically commited a violation of the laws of magic as the ghost were not compeled at any point. He didn't even go beyond reality as the ghosts were in this world and the ghosts themselves requested the power once he offered the possibility so they take full credit for the concequenses (This was all done in downtime so none of the party knew).

As far as i know this is the most convoluted way to comit mass atrocities without breaking the laws of magic, if anyone can out do this I would be really pleased to hear about it.

DFRPG / Evocation Manipulation of Elements
« on: February 02, 2011, 06:41:36 PM »
I brought an example in another forum on player mistakes of burning building my character a pyro-mancer was blocked by a wall of fire, I then used evocation to manipulate the position of the fire. I drew it in and shot it benhind me at those following, someone on the forums said that my GM shouldn't of allowed this as it was against the spirit of evocation but considering that Geomancy is all about moving the position and density of earth thats allready there I don't see any reason that pyromancy could not achieve the same effect.

What do other people think is manipulating pre-existing elements and mis-use of the evocation system?

DFRPG / Custom Sponsored Magic
« on: January 31, 2011, 12:02:51 PM »
Have any of you created a certain type of Sponsored Magic particualar to one PC, Im trying to figure out what would be the best way to show Jihn/genie magic and at the moment I have come to the conclusion that sponsored Jin Magic or Desert Magic would be the best way to do, Jhin magic basicly being able to do conguration, summoning, fire and sand magic as this is all the trick that Jhin can do in the books. Has anyone got any better ideas how they would  stat Genie magic?
