Title: Demon Name reference guide
Post by: bleet08 on April 24, 2008, 07:36:07 PM
In the middle of writing my book.  I am writing about a person being half angel and half demon.  Yes he does hate himself.  I was having a hard time with names of fallen, and everything.  Luckily I found a site that contains a lot of this.  The more I have dug deeper into both sides however, the scarier it gets.  Archangels are just as freaking scary as the demons themselves.

Do like Jim Butcher did and make up your own names. It's your story, after all, and it's not like some demon is going to file a lawsuit for defamation.  :D

I don't see sources on that page! ;)

How about some actual grimoires like http://www.esotericarchives.com/solomon/ksol.htm#contents or the material on www.sacred-texts.org? The Internet is for the occult...

I found this doing some online searching.    Good writing tool site, I think.  I didn't have time to see how easy it was to look things up.  334 names---gotta find just about anything in that one!

No, no, the Internet is for porn. Without it, there would be no Internet.

The Nag Hammadi Library ( http://www.gnosis.org/naghamm/nhlcodex.html ) gives a rather different view of the early mythology of Christianity, including the identities and roles of various figures such as angels.  The Secret Book of John ( http://www.gnosis.org/naghamm/apocjn.html ) in particular goes into detail regarding the names of angels, which, in these texts left out of the final draft of Christianity, are basically what came to be known as demons.  Get down to about half way and you'll get into the creation of humans by the angels.

Hey thanks a lot, I'm writing a modern Judeo-Christian fantasy, which involves a lot of angels and demons, great recommendation! ;D
