Calendar Event Discussion / Re: Jim at Dragon*Con 2010

I'm planning on running a couple of games of the new Dresden Files RPG and I may be on a game design panel and it could be discussed.  I'm a playtester only but I don' think any Evil Hat guys will be getting there.  If your going to be there and you have an interest in any of this let me know.

Oh, I'm going to be there, and I'm definitely interested in playing a Dresden Files RPG game.

(What would be the chances of getting Jim, himself, in on this? :p )

Sweet, thanks.

I know that was a lot of stuff. Thanks for trolling through it.

DFRPG / A few questions...

Alright, I've been thinking about what I'm going to do for my campaign.

First, and foremost, I've been trying to convince my friends to join in, because not everyone is sold on the idea of a Dresden Files game, which is insane because I think it's a fantastic idea.

Second, I've been trying to go over the system as best I can to familiarize my self with it. Does Spirit of the Century use the same core rules as Dresden will? Or, is something different?

Okay, now onto the actual campaign. Comments will be greatly appreciated here.

It's going to begin in California somewhere, possibly a small town, but leading to San Francisco, and of course Alcatraz. There's a power struggle happening on the streets, (a supernatural power struggle) between three gangs. El Toros, Circle of the Serpent, and the San Fran Brand.

Each of the different groups have different things they want to do.

Now, here's where I'm running into problems. I would like for San Fran Brand to consist of nothing but Changelings, but would Changelings work together for something like that?

Next, El Toros, I would like to be some sort of shape shifting Bull monsters, do we know if anything like that is going to exist in the world?

And third, Circle of the Serpent is basically a group of really strong Wizards. Definitely White Council material, but not Senior Council, and their main goal is to try and open the Gates, and unleash the Old Ones. Now, when it comes to something like this, would Ramirez make an appearence because of something this large scale, and California is his territory... And if so, is someone like a Ramirez going to have a stat block premade for him, or will I have to make the stats for him and his trainees?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would say a lot of the religions would have champions, or a variation there of.

Say, like the Monks of Mt. Fuji for example, they would probably be well versed in magics, or the Faith magic, after all that time meditating and praying. Studying, and working.

A lot of that would be the same, around the world. Even for the groups of Satanists, or Druids. If you believe in something hard enough, then you will have gained a true sense of Magic, just like Michael, except with another religion.

I've been thinking about this, preparing my Campaign and all.

And, Miami and New Orleans were literally two of the first that popped into my mind, for those very same reasons.

Though, I also was thinking about San Francisco. Think about it for a second, San Francisco was home of the Gold Rush,  bringing in thousands of people, and who knows what else with them? And, of course, Alcatraz is located off the shore of San Francisco. So, all sorts of Baddies were home there. I mean, if people leave an imprint when they die, think of all the lost souls wondering around on THAT island.

A couple of friends and myself are going to make the 8-9 hour drive from North Carolina, we've all decided.

And then, a cup of coffee afterwords. =D

Exactly.

Quote
~1436: Vlad Tepesh, father of Dracula, is born.

Vlad Tepes IS Dracula. Which, I believe, is exactly what I said.

Not to intrude or anything, but the last time I checked, Vlad Tepes Is Dracula, not the father of...

His father gave him the medallion accepting him into the Order of the Dragon, thus the name "Drakula", which is translated to "Little Dragon", or "Small Dragon".

I really don't know what I would be.

Being a Winter Knight would be cool for me, because I am one of the people that loves to be the "bad guy" in the games I play. (Fable, Elder Scrolls, DnD, Hero Systems, etc...) So, being able to imbued with the powers of Air and Darkness seems to appeal to me.

Of course, being a White Court vampire would be awesome, just because of above stated reasons.

But then, being a Black Court vampire would be awesome. I know that the weaknesses are there, but I mean, look at Mavra. She is enough to make Harry quake in his boots. Kincaid even showed alittle fear of her while eating at an IHOP of all places.

But, on the other end of the spectrum... A Warden.

I was getting ready to start another round of Champions Pen and Paper with my group, and we were all talking about how great a Dresden-verse RPG would be the greatest thing ever.

I can't believe this. It's so awesome.

(I'm sorry I didn't post my hello thread in the McAnally's Thread. I am a total idiot.)
