I just wanted to share how I will have my players keep track of their current Fate Point. I found a site that sells real metal coins that I think are perfect for keeping track of Fate Points in the game. The coins are rather small, but have a really nice weight to them and they feel very solid. I chose coins that had a "I" on them, to prevent the players commenting that some have "5" or a "10" on them. The main coins, in "silver", (bought 50 pcs) will be used for tracking Fate Points (should be enough for four players). I have not yet found a good way of using the "copper" ones (I bought ten of those). They cost 7 AUD for ten coins, but they are definately worth it (even if one includes the cost of the freight).
I also bought a nice bag to store the coins from a tarot-type shop here in Sweden (I also bought a nice note book with a pentagram on the cover).

I can't find the silver ones on their site - any hints?

Use the copper ones for NPC or bad guy fate points.

Not a Crown Royal sock? Odd but I guess it works too.

Use the copper ones for sponsor debt! (Or other forms of not-yet-resolved compels, like the ones you can use to power up potions.)

I like this idea!

Wow that takes me back - I wonder where that went? It was my best dice bag ever....

I swear you could use one of those as a focus item and kill off 70% of gamers worldwide at once.

I've never played an RPG (partially because I've never met anyone IRL who does), but those look very nice. Congrats!

I like those too. I'm still looking for some nice fate-tokens myself. Maybe they have these coins in Germany, too...

Hmm, strange. I can't find them either - they just seem to have coins for the value 2 and above.

Yes, that was also my initial idea, very good!

They could have them in some local store, but they do ship them to Germany (I ordered to Sweden). The freight for 60 coins (delivery within 10 days) were around AUD 20, around AUD 40 for the coins (total of about USD 70 incl freight). Yes, 1/3 of the total cost in freight, and they are quite expensive, but I really like them.
-
That seems a bit too expensive for me - they're still just tokens. But I think you can find something like this in Germany...

I have found this: http://www.amazon.de/Simba-902638-Pirate-Pound-Sammelm%C3%BCnzen/dp/B000OZN2L0 (http://www.amazon.de/Simba-902638-Pirate-Pound-Sammelm%C3%BCnzen/dp/B000OZN2L0)
Seems as good as Watsons coins and much cheaper... ;)

Hows that cheaper ?
3 coins for 3, makes 10 for 10 coins, versus 7 Australian Dollars for 10 coins.
Given the Exchange rate that's about twice as expensive.
-
Don't remember where I purchased them (it wasn't Amazon) but I use rune stones as fate chips (http://www.amazon.com/Rune-Stones-Bag-Of-24/dp/B004M9XI8G/ref=pd_sbs_hg_7).

My fault. I saw the number of coins later, too - luckily, before any ordering... ::) For now, I'm using glass gems and look further for some fine coins...

Nice link, thank you!
You can get about 50 Coins für 30, that's a fair price.
But this leads me to another question: How many tokens do you need for DF? Is 50 enough for 3, 4 or 5 players?

I was asking me the same question, and came to the comclusion that 50 was very safe for a group of 4 players.

I think 40 is good. I ended up with way too many (68!) but some of those have been souvenirs people gave me.

We use pennies (1˘ US coins). I like the idea of money having a metaphoric relationship to free will. Also, they're super cheap (I can get 100 of them for a dollar!).

I use pennies, too! But I get them at a 5100% markup just just to have a logo smashed into it by a machine. That's one talented machine!
