Post by: David one Mutts Friend on December 04, 2017, 10:59:33 PM
I know I have asked this before! But do we have a status report that is official on PT?

Nothing official so far. During a recent Q&A, he mentioned that it should be several months after the release of next short story collection. That is not definite or comes with a release date. But, it is what I know. Others may have more thorough intel.

Someone says it adds time with every viewing.

George R. R. Martin kills of more Starks, Jim Butcher delays the release :D To each his own.

On the other hand, last book of the Song of Ice and Fire came out 2011 so we can't complain there.

And last Martin book was lacking.

From what I gathered, it got split into two books and only the first one is out so far. Funny, the only book I know with more sex in it than Martin's books is the Bible.

Oh, there are many that have plenty; but, the more you add the less interesting the story.

You've got that right. I mean, if I want to read about bed scenes, I'll go and buy some harlequin books...

I am sure there are some equally bad Dresden fan fictions out there.

Are you familiar with the term fujoshi? Now there's a source for some twisted fanfics, if I've ever seen one. There is one thing I never could understand: Why do so many female fans want to turn straight men into gay couples?

Also: Griffin wrote something nice and fairly readable. It's set in Dresdenverse, but it doesn't touch many original characters too deeply:
https://www.fanfiction.net/u/7102335/griffyn612 I've only read Torch Light 1for now, but it looks like I'm going to read the next one as well :)

He does some interesting stuff, though some of it is quite dark, and that is not everyones cup of tea. I contributed one character for one of the books (Hell Bent).  ;)

Out of curiosity, please let me know if it gets more or less "fairly readable" beyond Torch Light.   :D

I'd say the Dalca series is dark, and the Mirrorverse isn't very light.  But is the Hayes series "dark"?  I didn't think it was, at least any more so than Dresden.

As for Amy...

No the Hayes aren't that dark. The Dalca ones though are, and since they seem interconnected...

Cool. I do hope you get the time to do more writing.  ;)

Well, we finished the campaign she came from. The GM had his fun throughout the campaign to torture her with various visions. My chronicle from it ended up being 100 pages long. And now we are playing a campaign in Mage: the Acension set in the same city as our Dresden campaign (Boston), and the gm there is pulling things from the Dresden-campign and making them much darker. Will be interesting to see what he puts her through. And I put a version of her in my superhero-campaign. There she is a nice person who might end up helping one of the villains.

Yeah, they're connected, but the idea is that Dalca will never be essential to the Hayes story.  And the reason I wrote that one in third person was too help me buffer Dalca's personality from mine.  But I like exploring stories from the perspective of the bad guys.

Isn't that always the case?  ;)  I too seem to suffer from it.

Everytime I read "It’s still way too early for blurbs, preorders, release dates, and the like" I die a little inside.

I do hope Mr. Butcher hasn't lost interest in this series, or if he has he publishes his notes or somthing so we can fill in the blanks.

Nostradamus?  I thought it was Ms. Cleo the Clairvoyant.

Pleaase, Ms. Cleo didn't even see her own death coming.

sincer brief cases is coming out in june, that does not bode well for a full length novel. it was this book- another anthology of hsort stories almost all of which we've seen before that has me royally ticked off. it's mostly re-runs-those damn bigfoot stories have appeared a few times- and yet we're supposed to cough up full price as if it were a full length novel? I use to gobble stuff up as soon as it was out, this? it doesn't give me hope for PT and I'll wait until brief cases is  'used' on amazon.
