The Butcher Block is a podcast about all things Jim Butcher, as well as things Jim's fans find cool. It's hosted by Fred Hicks, long-time friend of Jim's and one of the developers on the Dresden Files RPG.
You can listen to it here:

Is there a way to get the pod casts via ftp or email subscription. I am behind a firewall that blocks the site itself. Thanks in advance.

Nope, sorry. :(

If you can get to Google, you can subscribe through Google Reader: you'll just have to get someone to pass you the appropriate URL. With any luck, you'll get your data passed through to you by Google.
One strangeness I encountered was that the "mini-player" which showed up played back the latest episode at double-speed :) Not quite certain how to get around that one, which happens in both IE7 and FF2 :( If that happens to you, you're probably out of luck since the alternative is to save the MP3...which you already said you couldn't do ???
HTH HAND

Just getting to listen to the first ones! Thanks Fred.

I am behind a similar firewall. I use the Coral Cache ( http://www.coralcdn.org/ ) to get around this. You can do this by copying the "direct download" link, going to the end of the domain name (libsyn.com) and tacking on a ".nyud.net:8080". For instance, right now Episode 004 is the current one with an URL of: http://media.libsyn.com/media/butcherblock/BB004_-_Furious_Nerds_and_Prime_C.mp3
All you have to do is change the URL to:
http://media.libsyn.com.nyud.net:8080/media/butcherblock/BB004_-_Furious_Nerds_and_Prime_C.mp3
Another advantage is that once you do this, if libsyn goes down, you still have access to the cached version of the file.

I love the Butcher Block! Good job, guys!
-
Love the BB! but is is dead? i mean its been ages! i need my Dresden news :'(
-
I've had no time, and I think Pris has been similarly swamped. It's not dead. It's, um, pining. For the fjords. Or maybe just taking a nap.

THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!

THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!
Are you saying that it's run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible?
-
He's takin' a dirt nap! He's pushin' up daisies! He's bereft of life!
-
Whack his head on the table, he will not protest.

That is one of my, perhaps only, favorite skit from Monty Python.

Let's not quote-storm this too much, lest the thread need splitting. :)

Requiem for the late parrot :'(

How much resurrection juice must we pump into the Block?
-
I, too, request more Block.
Also, do you think Jim might be amenable to reading a chapter or two from one of the books aloud for the podcast sometime, like he did with "A Taste of Turn Coat"? Maybe the first few chapters of Small Favor, or something? I ask, because someone mentioned a while back that hearing Jim read Bob's dialogue brings a new level to the talking skull, and ever since then I've been wishing I could find a recording of it somewhere.

Enough to afford day care.

Look at that a Butcher podcast! :)
Got to listen to that. Wait ... it seems discontinued. But there is an archive. Perhaps even the Archive?
So, while I try to download all the podcasts I can find, what do you say is it a good podcast? Any episodes in particular I shall look for?
