When we have a release date, I think. That's when I'll be squeeing.

Sounds like wisdom, Charlie Spy.

As I said on the other board, never been that much into steampunk, but I'm betting Cinder Spires will get me into it, the same way Dresden got me into urban fantasy.

Also, seven-figure deal? I knew Jim's a relatively famous author, but to see concrete signs of that... wow.

Edit: Just realized that this is officially my 1000th post. Not sure how to feel about that.  :o

Welcome to your pants, then, Locnil. :)

And I too am highly anticipating Jim's new series. A cat mafia and steampunk? Bring. it.
*bounces in his chair* ;D

The Bar / Re: See Ya

lol they sound a bit like my NHS glasses (thick dark blue frames... but I have dicided I like wire rim glasses better... the weight is better on my small face, lucky you get some choice on the NHS, not much but some)
I still would not like people messing with my glasses
I fined them useful and have to make them last as long as I can as replacing them costs money

I've got steel rims. Very natty. They make me look like some Commie agitator. :D

Ah, I wondered where all these threads had gone. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Just to throw this bone into the conversation... Have we ever seen or are we ever going to see Kringle and Donar Vadderung in the same place at the same time?

Display Case / Re: Perfect Casting, part 2

I just found out that Paul Blackthorne is something like 6'3" - 6'4", so, yeah - he's Harry.

I liked Paul Blackthorne as Harry too. The face is right, even if the height is not. But then, heightwise, Harry is very difficult to cast. I mean, he's between 6'7" and 6'9". Not many people that tall who aren't built like football players, not lanky like Harry.

Speaking of football players, who plays Cujo Hendricks?  :D

I saw a couple of the episodes first when they were on TV and thought it was okay, never having heard of the books or Jim Butcher. I then read the first three books back in 2009/10 but didn't rate them that highly although I thought they were okay.

Needless to say, that has changed. A lot. I have recently finished plowing through the series and have only now to read "Ghost Story" which is on order from the library. I now think the books a utterly brilliant and am impatiently waiting for "Cold Days", the cover art to which looks utterly awesome. Harry riding an AT-AT? Bring it!

I am doomed, but happily so.  8)
