DF Spoilers / Re: At what age does Talent usually manifest?

Personally I think the more interesting topic is how being exposed to a part-rampire will influence any magic she might develop.

DF Spoilers / Re: Harry's possible Denarian form?
« on: April 16, 2022, 12:04:04 AM »
That would mean he is Black Council or Black Council adjacent in the Mirrorverse.

I mean we don't know that. Cowl is Black Council and Mavra was the one to sic Harry on him in DB.

63
Or maybe it's just Harry having a weird dream to muddle through shit where he talks to an imaginary friend version of himself because he's nucking futs.

Personally I hate the idea of Id being an actual, separate entity viscerally, so I'd rather just move on. Nobody is going to convince anyone otherwise there.

64
To me that sounds a little bit too ambiguous, Bob may say that but it doesn't mean that Bonnie was a direct result of Lash's sacrifice for Harry.

The bit about bob was just me making a joke, sorry if that was unclear. The one that tells Harry Bonnie came from Lash's self sacrifice was actually Id!Harry himself in their dream conversation in Skin Game.

As for the rest, I really feel like you're stretching the extent to which Id!Harry is his own entity and not just Dresden being a bit loose in the head and having existential dream talks with himself.

That part's just my opinion though.

65
More than likely, also we don't know exactly when the Shadow of Lasciel got it on with Harry's alter ego.  Up until her complete break, which was just at the end when she sacrificed herself for Harry, Lash was still in contact with the coin.  Let's not forget her final try to get Harry to accept the coin in White Night, so Lasciel would have known about the sex, most likely encouraged it, and yes, knew about the pregnancy as well.

That wasn't a thing.

Id!Harry directly states in Skin Game that Bonnie was 'conceived' by Lash sacrificing herself as an act of Love.

Though I suppose that might be another way  she could have known- to an entity like her, what happened in the Raith deeps was probably as obvious as 'insert tab a into slot b' would be to humans.

I bet that's why nobody told Harry about his condition-

Bob: "What do you want me to say Harry, you can't keep run around making loving self-sacrifices unprotected and not expect this to happen. I mean honestly..."

66
And yet, the real Lasciel seemed to know about Bonea, which suggests that a Shadow's destruction within a wizard's mind is a known phenomenon.  Also, I think there was a WoJ saying that Bob was created the same way as Bonea.

Wasn't that because Harry told Murphy about her when Nick was listening in?

67
I mean it's pretty well established that not much can kill a Denarian as long as they have their coin. There wasn't much of Tessa left after her failed ambush on Harry and Gard in Marcone's safehouse, but she just shrugged it off.

And BOHS had a much higher starting point then Tessa.

DF Spoilers / Re: Harry should have trusted Ramirez

I wonder who else caught it?

Marcone and Mab obviously.

Probably everyone in the room.

Harry is about as subtle as a bull in a China shop even when trying- and I doubt he was trying that hard since, y'know, fuck Marcone.

They're probably more worried about Harry striking bargains/making deals with the eldritch horrors inside, the same way he did with other Monsters, like Mab the Queen of Evil Faeries, or Lara the Mind-raping Sex-slaving Vampire, and so on.

Carlos first expresses doubts about Harry at the end of White Knight. This is the second dance around this subject. It happens with almost every character.  When he picks up the coin he hides it from Michael. Billy has to call him on it after the Skin Walker eats one of his pack.  And so on.

Yeah, very much this. Harry had been lying/concealing information/going behind the backs of all of his friends for years at this point.

Except that unlike with Murphy or Billy, or Butters, when his relationship with Carlos reached a crisis point, Harry refused to admit his fault and instead doubled down on the righteous indignation and "How DARE you doubt me, no matter how blatantly shady I act" because Carlos is a Wizard of the White Council, and Harry refuses to grow past the frightened, angry 16 year old they caught where the White Council is concerned.

Who was trusting whom?  First thing Carlos puts on Harry is a tracking device without telling him.
Would you have trusted someone who was supposedly your friend who did that?  I don't think so.  Remember this was before the assassination attempt even happened.  So as a friend, why didn't Carlos come clean with Harry on the beach?  No, though I wouldn't be shocked if it were Eb that ordered the tracking device.. But once that was done, hell no, Harry wasn't going to trust Carlos.

Would it have mattered one way or the other if Harry had told Carlos everything?  Before the talks, Harry didn't know anything beyond what had happened... Again, first thing Carlos does when they catch up to Harry and Murphy after the visit to Lara is have Harry scanned for recent sexual encounters without his permission and believing the worst when it is found out that he had had recent sex.. You going to "trust" this guy who then claims to be your friend?  I don't think so.. I think Harry would have been a idiot if he had told Carlos, "everything."

I agree he would've been a idiot to tell Carlos everything. But he could have said something.

Instead, when his friends go "Yo Dres we're kinda worried that you've been enthralled by a Succubus Queen can you give us some reassurance here"... Harry grounds his staff and prepared for combat.

He did worse then nothing: he provided evidence in favour of him being controlled.

Harry is an idiot who apparently thought that his only options were "Tell Ramirez everything" or "Tell him nothing in the most antagonistic way possible" with no possible in between.

It also didn't hurt that the Wardens were kinda right not to trust him, seeing as how he was in fact in the middle of conspiring with Lara to disrupt a Peace Conference for selfish reasons.

DF Spoilers / Re: Molly’s Apartment
« on: November 19, 2021, 09:18:14 AM »
I thought it was pretty clear that the Svartelves were mad because:

A) they found the implication that their own security measures were insufficient to be insulting and

B) Dresden's security measures were preventing them from grabbing Maggie as a hostage while they determined whether or not Harry was involved in the Assassination attempt to save her from the fire, and the inconvenience of this disgruntled them.

I fully expect at least half of Next Book will be just this from different approaches by Molly, Mab and Lara.

Man and Lara maybe, Molly would be on his side at least.

Though if Mab wanted it done and Harry messed around too much she'd probably just tell him to lie down and brace himself.

It's not like it'd take that long.

DF Spoilers / Re: Thomas hoped Marcone would Kill Lara?
« on: November 10, 2021, 09:56:04 AM »
I think it's to do with the fact that Thomas thought Lara has gotten "real scary" in the last couple of years.

So even if she's big sis, she's becoming that big of a problem/threat.
