DFRPG / Re: Weapons and the law
« on: August 26, 2011, 06:33:57 AM »
First we have this from wikipedia on Gun Politics in Germany
Quote
Firearms carry permit
Firearms carry permits (Waffenschein) entitle licensees to publicly carry legally owned weapons, loaded in a concealed or non-concealed manner. A mandatory legal and safety class and shooting proficiency tests are required to obtain such a permit. Carry permits are usually only issued to persons with a particular need for carrying a firearm. This includes some private security personnel and persons living under a raised threat-level like celebrities and politicians. They are valid up to three years and can be extended. Carrying at public events is prohibited. Licensed hunters do not need a permit to carry weapons while hunting.
[edit]Small firearms carry permit
A small firearms carry permit (Kleiner Waffenschein) was introduced in 2002. It can be obtained without having to demonstrate expert knowledge, necessity or a mandatory insurance. The only requirements are that the applicant be of legal age, trustworthy and personally adequate. It entitles the licensee to publicly carry gas pistols (both of the blank and irritant kind) and flare guns. These types of firearms are freely available to adults; only the actual carrying on public property requires the permit. Similarly to the "real" or big permit, carrying at public events is proscribed.
And second gas weapons can be tinkered to their non gas analog if you realy need this.

Great thanks guys! For ideas and ideas and very nice ideas :). I am energized with good emotion and thinking. Now field trials.

"My left hand is not mine realy". He make a bargain with one of Unseelie Sidhe to gain knowledge about his father (he is an orphan and his mom die in jail). Cost was control of his left hand when he actually see his father. It is a great story hook and awesome dedication from player. But i think it is not so good formulated aspect.

And thanks again. This sunday will show me how much i can process good advices.  :)

DFRPG / I am bad at GMing - No compels.
« on: August 23, 2011, 01:06:00 PM »
So i obviously have a problem at GMing DF and Fate as it is. For an 4 hour session with 3 players i will make 2 compels, at my best.  An it is a problem because players did not get steady flow of Fate Points. And after time they getting more passive and cautious.
This really frustrate me. Obviously i am not trying hard enough, so any of you can help me with some words?

PS. I have large GM experience with non Fate systems and about 5-7 games with Fate ones.

Thank you for assistance.
Bad for wizard. Good for Ape. So we get kinda antideathcurse mechanism instead.

DFRPG / Fallout as antigrapple mechanism.
« on: August 01, 2011, 09:46:27 AM »
So, lets assume that i am wizard with 5 conviction and 0 fists. Big Nasty Ape grapple me with 10 block and squeeze. So as my living option i will make an attack spell with 10 power and fire and deliberately fail my Discipline. Then i will route all power in fallout. Do i get one burning ape? Or grapple wins and i still must pass block value?

... it was legit for Harry in Foul Moon.  ;D

I know that characters have stress boxes, but it seems like you only have 3-4 of those, does that mean  you only get 3-4 hitponts, because that feels like not alot at all.

Stress boxes is more like an condensed hit points. When you get hit by some stress you mark coresponding stress box, i.e., 1 stress hit — First stress box, 2 stress hit — Second stress box etc. So if you think this way 3 stress box character get 1+2+3 = 6 hitpoints. This is not realy true, but we can think that way :)
I'm really lost how consequences work, are they just arbitrary? Does the GM decide when a character takes consequences? How long do they last?
Consequences is arbitrary. When you get hit and you out of corresponding stress boxes to check you have a choise: declare yourself "taken out" or take consequences to ease the blow by number based on consequence severity (2/4/6 ladder). Example
OOO hit by 5 stress attack. he may:
1)declare himself "taken out"  because he miss 5 point stress box, or
2)take a mild consequence, ease damage by 2 and get 3 point stress hit effectively checking third stress box and stay in conflict.

DFRPG / Re: Invoking(Compelling) Stunts?
« on: November 03, 2010, 09:12:34 AM »
You can't compel stunts. However, it is fairly likely that C has an other aspect that is somehow linked to the stunt. That aspect you may compel.

Can you clear up your example a bit please? It doesn't make much sense to me. Perhaps it a question of understanding. Generally you definitely can't compel stunts, since they are linked to skills and not like many powers linked to aspects.

EDIT: cleared up a typo.
It was just a thought. Some very weird one. Now its gone. To good.

DFRPG / Invoking(Compelling) Stunts?
« on: November 01, 2010, 08:47:10 AM »
So, we can Invoke someone aspect if we know it. Can we go further and invoke someone stunt if we know it? Or maybe even Compell it?
Example: C has an Subtle Menace Stunt, we know it and "wannabecreative": "Yuck! No offence man, you scare me a lot!" and get +2 for invoking Subtle Menace on Empathy roll?

Thoughts anyone?

DFRPG / Re: Fate Points economy flow.

Any aspect that is attached to a character is invokeable or compellable, regardless of how it got there. Scene aspects are assumed to be 'on the character sheet' of everyone involved in that scene.

Any time you spend fate points to invoke or compel an aspect on another character's sheet (be they temporary, permanent or scene) they get the fate point that you spend. The only aspects you can invoke without giving your fate point to the person you're using it against is when you are invoking your own aspects for advantage over someone.
Wow, that good and clever thinking. If Aspect is not on your sheet you don`t get points and Scene aspects... Briliant! It bring a whole bunch of light in my darkened thoughts process. Thanks again!

Many Thanks! Seems i need an one more accurate reading of the fate mechanic part of the book.
I think that Fate points spent to activate aspects generated by maneuvers or declarations (after the free tag) also go to the pot, not the victim.
My thoughts too, but by "106rule" it seems go to the victim pot. So it may be arguable in times when.
