DFRPG / The Doctor and the TARDIS, how to stat?
« on: February 12, 2013, 09:24:07 PM »
First things first, I finally got my PDFs! Happy days are here again.

Anywho, I'm working on a new scenario for my Louisville, KY campaign and I was wondering how one would go about writing up The Doctor and the TARDIS from the BBC series Doctor Who? I was toying around with a few ideas in my spare time but I'm still getting back into the swing of things.

Just my ideas:

High Concept: The Doctor
Trouble: Last of the Time Lords
Other Aspects: Just The Doctor
                     Time Traveler
                     Bane of the Daleks

Ideas, critics, suggestions?

Well with the way things are looking it doesn't matter what I do. It seems my group backed out on me.

Er ... not as such.  [nitpicking] Iron responds to magnetic fields, are attractic to magnetic materials, and can be made into magnets by (for example) applying a very strong magnetic field.  (And iron is also not unique in these aspects, there are other metals -- nickle and cobalt, for example -- that behave the same way despite containing no iron.)  I think that if iron made things magnetic, computer manufacturers would think twice about using steel cases on computers.  As it is, the fact that iron reacts to magnetic fields actually leads to the use of steel as magnetic shielding for computers.[/nitpicking]

Of course, driving on freeways would be a lot more ... interesting if all iron (and therefore steel) was magnetic...   ;D

::) Wow so that's what that feels like. I really need to stop doing this to people. :P

Ferromancy, while used by Mab to describe human tech, would deal with ferrous metals or stones. Describing an object as ferrous implies that the object contains a high amount of iron, which as we all know makes things magnetic. Therfore, Ferromancy = magnatisim

Thanks for the help guys. I'm not very good at making IoPs and the such. If you have any other ideas I'd love to hear them.

Well I assumed that it would be helpful considering the book contains details and sketches of nearly all supernatural creatures. Figured that it would be helpful to have a power that allows you to automaticly persue the perfect page for the creature you're up against in an instant rather than having to waste time franticly flipping bages while your being charged by a blood-thirsty Loup Garou or something.

So I thought up one power for the book.

[-2] Perfect Page: By focusing on a particular name/image of a supernatural creature, when opened, the book will open to the most relevent page.

How does this sound?

Sancta, this is the second time you've suggested the Mental Library power to me. Lol. I could see this working with the idea I have though.

I'm trying to put together an IoP for a character I'm making as a back-up just incase my current PC gets taken out. Here's what I've got so far:

Book of Grimm [-?]
Description: An ancient leather-bound copy of Grimms Märchen (Grimm’s Fairy Tales) hand written by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. It contains a wealth of knowledge on supernatural creatures.
Musts: You must have an aspect related to your possession of this item.
Skills Affected: Scholarship, Lore
Effects:
[-0] Purpose. The Book of Grimm was penned in an effort to educate the owner on the supernatural.
[-0] It is what it is. The Book of Grimm is a book. It can be read by anyone.
[-0] Unbreakable. This book cannot be destroyed except with a magical ritual predicated on perverting its purpose.
[+1] One time discount. It's a book. You can hide it in plain sight.

So far I've only been considering music for the strip club that's going to make an appearence in my game. I've got a few songs picked out. Any suggestions you think I should add?

Bad Girlfriend - Theory of a Deadman
Cherry Pie - Warrant
Shakin' Hands - Nickleback
Something in your Mouth - Nickleback
Girls, Girls, Girls - Motely Crue

DFRPG / My players have been threatened
« on: November 09, 2011, 03:26:58 AM »
So I asked on twitter (I know, shame) if Gentleman John Marcone had any "business" interests in Louisville, Kentucky (where my game is set) and I recieved a polite threat from him.

"I trust that even in an imaginary sense you'll think to remind your players the consequences of damaging my property."

So I'm thinking that I may just have to add a sub-plot with Marcone fighting agains the Scilians in my game. Does this sound interesting to anybody?

Also, is it sad that I'm all excited about recieving a threat from a person that is supposed to impersonate a character on Twitter?

I've been toying with a similar idea of Psionics but have been thinking of modeling it like the Shonen Jump manga Psyren. I keep hitting dead ends with my ideas though.
