DF Spoilers / Re: Who knows about Marcone?
« on: May 17, 2021, 12:59:58 AM »
Addendum to my initial post:  Of course we need to realize that it's been about 6 years that Marcone has had the coin.  Whether or not he picked it up 6 years ago is a different story, but it's very likely that he has.

If Sigrun knows, it's likely she's known for awhile.

Sheesh, now i need to read the books again from the perspective that Marcone has the coin.  :)

DF Spoilers / Who knows about Marcone?
« on: May 16, 2021, 11:32:17 PM »
So Marcone revealed to Harry that he has Namshiel's coin.  Who else knows?  I don't think that it's safe to assume all the bigs know (i.e., Mab, Vaderrung, etc...) because everyone keeps talking about the mortal baron.

Who knows for certain
1.  Harry (duh).
2.  Marcone (double duh).

Who likely knows:
1.  Hendricks (but he's not talking now...)
2.  Odin (I feel that Marcone would have researched the s*** out of the coin before picking it up).
3.  Ferrovax
3.  Mab
4.  Archive (who may not be so inclined to be neutral)
5.  Waldo - I believe he sensed it but didn't make a big deal out of it since he was busy with the small "a" apocalypse.

Who might know:
1.  Helen Beckitt
2.  Sigrun

Who doesn't know:
1.  White Council
2.  Black Council
3.  Remaining Denarians - I believe that this may be Namshiel's power move OR that Marcone has figured out a way to clamp down on Namshiel's ability to take over.

Thoughts?

DF Spoilers / Re: What would be a counter to Carlos?

Harry might be alone, or in his Castle, or have Bob, or Mouse, or the Alphas, or Ebenezar (with or against), or some Winter Fae, or White Court Vampires, or Molly etc. ".

Good grief, I didn't even think about Bob or Bonnie.  If Harry figures out how to utilize Bob and Bonnie even half as well as Waldo, then the WC is greatly underestimating Harry and that is always a good thing for Harry.

A consistent theme in the Dresdenverse is that when given enough time to plan, Harry is pretty damn hard to beat in a fight.

The mistake that the Carlos and the WC made is that it painted Harry into a corner and allowed him to *know* that he was painted in a corner.  Once Harry has time to heal and set up his new smart home, believe that Harry is starting to plan his contingencies against the Wardens, Carlos in particular.

Also, everyone keeps underestimating Harry's intellect.  He encourages that by making a show of how physically strong and intimidating he is.  Hell, even Ebenezer was undone by his assumptions on Harry and that was just a few hours of planning (and a favor from the Winter Lady).  Nemesis said it best:  Harry doesn't look smart, so it's easy to underestimate him.

Besides, Harry is going to get some training from River Shoulders.  Methinks he may have some insights...  ;)

DF Spoilers / Re: Peace talks spoilers: Thomas... Metamorphosis???
« on: July 17, 2020, 09:21:46 PM »
Maybe if Thomas *chooses* to pick up Amoracchius (sp?), it would kill the weakened Hunger Demon within him.  I mean, the demon is susceptible to true love, Thomas is truly in love and Amoracchius is the sword of love.  I mean, that's a whole lotta lovin' for a demon that is susceptible to love.

The question i have is if that does happen, then does Thomas age to his real age, or does he just age from that point on?

DF Spoilers / Re: Where Did Harry Get Money in Skin Game?
« on: May 04, 2020, 05:41:34 AM »
in cold days, the Gatekeeper told Harry that he would fill out the necessary forms to get Harry's identity reestablished.  Apparently, it was a favor not to be underestimated.   ;)   With that, I'm *sure* Harry's monthly pay as a Warden of the White Council resumed.  :)

DF Spoilers / Re: Name someone you want to appear in Peace Talks

I'd like to see a conversation between Molly and the senior council, especially Langtry.  Remember, that asshat tried to have Molly executed, then threatened her again in Edinburgh during Changes.

I'd love to see something that'll give Langtry paranoid nightmares for a long time.  Something like a conversation that seemingly goes Langtry's way only to discover that he's talking to an illusion that fooled the entire senior council while Molly had been sitting on their flank the entire time.  :)

DF Spoilers / Re: Non-plot moments you're most looking forward to

May be plot related, but I'm looking forward to Molly's arrival and watching the senior council, Merlin in particular, squirm when they realize they almost executed her and she knows it. :)

That and a "winter is coming" reference. ☺

I'm hoping for at least one "winter is coming" comment.   :o

"The Complete Collection of Aesop's Fables"

At the end of Ghost Story, Harry was realizing the unintended consequences of his actions with Molly.  Uriel said something to the effect of 'It's one thing if you say, "we'll roast marshmallows as the world burns'; it's entirely different if you say 'we'll roast marshmallows as Molly burns.', but it's the same result regardless."

Harry has always had a well developed need to protect those he loves.  To have had such a massive blind spot with a blatant disregard for probably the one person who depended on him as much as little Maggie (albeit in a different context) was a serious gut punch to Harry.

Heck, it made me feel guilty for liking that line when I first read it in Changes.

A very well thought out theory.  I'm impressed.  Kudos!  As I re-read the series, I'll look out for other "whispers".

I will however sneak them into his salon on his desk.
Because if he blows a gasket at work it will look funny because of his cover.

Why get Molly to do it?  Why not have the brownies clean up his salon, rearrange everything in a more "orderly" fashion and leave a warm, delicious piece of joy on his desk?
