Fiction Rule of Thumb from http://xkcd.com/ ;D

i don't know about writing it, because i'm not an author, but as a reader i would say it wouldn't be a pain at all.  as long as there's good tension between characters and whatnot, i can easily be sucked into the situation at hand without needing to know the backstory on everyone.

if she was a programmer working on her own thing on company pc, the program itself would have been deemed to be the property of the company.  not sure if that would translate to a case like this one, but basically keep things that you don't want to lose OFF the company property.

even aside from getting caught working on her own stuff, had she been released for any reason whatsoever she may not be given opportunity to retrieve her work from the pc.  if she didn't have a backup online or on her own machine she'd be SOL.

well actually i was thinking that some font colors hits me like someone scratching a chalkboard, but i just realized that with the alternate colors we got going for the posts there probably isn't a scheme that's gonna cover everything.

just a minor personal annoyance.

just finished the book.  pretty damn good read (spent most of yesterday and today reading it).  very interesting characters with good dynamics between them.  i like that she's not some heavy hitter.  still gives me pause every time she's referred to as "kincaid" tho ;D.  very much looking forward to the next one.

and i like the redhead cover.  ;D

a girl who doesn't understand that playoffs are just a little bit more important than your average games.

and if she hates my favorite team she will have to vacate the premises during those games.  and if i invite bunch of my friends it is not an excuse for you to invite bunch of your friends.  it's not a party.  hm..almost sound like it belongs in a gripes thread..

ask iago

see the thing is fanfic can be bad for an author cause you can claim ownership if he uses any of your work.

i dont really read fanfics and i dont know much about this stuff so i'm curious.  you can write something that's based on someone else's already established (and paid) work, and then when that other person uses the idea you can turn around and say "that's mine"?  is this a legal thing or more of a reputation thing?

I dunno, I think having the Politics thread is making people get heated up in here in stead of relaxing.  Of course, I self censor by not going...

yup yup.

too often it goes real bad real fast.  and with the elections coming it's only gonna get more volatile.  i get mad enough following things on the news.

it may suck initially trying to remember what's what, but those things never bothered me after couple of chapters.  so i dont really see a problem.
