MX, does the order we get things signed..oh wait..no in order to get a place to sit for the Q&A we have to be there way early don't we...shoot...with Chiro working not sure how early we can get there, that'll be a problem. Do they still let people be there even without a chair, for the Q&A though?

I'm actually about to head up that way now, so I'll ask about that.  I don't see why they wouldn't let folks stand, especially as you purchased the book, but I'll check.  If you two will be there around 430, I don't see how you won't get a seat.

crap what about numbers and preoder i thought we jsut showed up dang it

Sorry, no :(  It's not going to be like the signing for TC.  To have a book signed, you have to order from Andersons.  When you buy the book, they give you a number.  They line up folks according to those numbers for signatures.  If you would, take a look at on page 2 of this thread.  Emgirl, Lany, Chiro, Alilisa and myself have all pre-ordered and received numbers.

Actually, I am glad it won't be like that last signing in this area.  Lots of people arrived very early that day to check into the store and several of the staff I talked to said you could just show up.  Well, it turns out they were giving out wrist bands showing your order of arrival.  Some people had been there, like me, for hours but ended up being closer to the end for signatures because of the lack of information on the bookstore's part.  I would think they were unprepared excepting the fact that they had plenty of books for all.  That just tells me whoever was in charge didn't manage things correctly.

GW may be in our group, but I don't recall if he stated he had pre-ordered or not.  I hope so though :)  That would be cool.

I believe I have to wait until Chiro gets off work, I think. I'm free all day, but I think that'll be around 4 or 330 in the afternoon arriving in Dundee, so we may not get there until around 430? is it an hour from Dundee?

I'm thinking the same thing...wow I hope I didn't lose my number, I thought I had it on the counter, now I don't remember.

Yep :)  Roughly an hour, counting traffic.  Regarding your number, just call the place back and tell them your name, they should have your number in the system.  I was only told my number via phone.  I'm sure they will have something there.  They do a lot of author signings, from what I see at their site.

I have a question....is Naperville a big city...I get really nervous when driving in big cities :D and haven't done it often, I mean I get nervous driving in Madison (WI), how many people are in Naperville?

It is a little over 140K, according to 2010 census.

Traffic volume tends to be consistent, if lighter, at off-peak hours.  I worked up in this area for roughly two years and it was rare not to see a few cars at a stop light at any given time.  The main travelled road to get places is I59.  It runs almost from I80 up to, iirc, where you and Chiro are inbound from.

I would recommend that the two of you arrive earlier rather than later if the traffic may bother you.  A bit of advance notice as well: the street the bookstore doesn't have an overabundance of parking spots.  It looks to be more like something I see here in downtown Morris.

I'll be heading up that way either today(Tuesday) or Wednesday to see what I can see.  I'm gonna stop in the bookstore too to have a look around.

I'm hoping it's like the Tardis: bigger on the inside cause we are going to fill it, methinks.

There are a bunch of places to eat within walking distance of the bookstore.  Folks can get to the area to early and walk to one of the places to eat.  That way parking won't be an issue when the time comes.

Just a thought :)

I'm more worried about timing when to leave for my interview this week.  :D  It's at 3pm.

Good luck on the interview :)  I meant to say that to your original post about that, but, well, I forgot somehow...

What exactly is/are rush hour(s) in Naperville?
I would say any time after 2PM.  Although, with it being summer time, school out and nice weather, even if hot, I expect the walk area to be busy, even for midweek.  Also, considering 7PM still sees the sun in the sky, I expect plenty of folks enjoying the evening.

I'm just planning to spend the day up there.

wait the book hasnt come out yet

True, but if you preorder, as Lany79 helpfully noted earlier (Thank you Lany!!!), they give you a ticket number.  I did mine over the phone and the lady, Amanda was her name, was very helpful.

I'm actually going to head up there sometime next week.  I want to scout the area again.  I always have enjoyed the Riverwalk when I went, but I haven't been up to that general area yet this summer.  I'm going specifically to hunt for the best parking spots.  It can get really busy in the summer time.  Mind you, the sights, both the 'Walk and the people, can keep you occupied.

The Anderson shop is actually located the next block over from the River Walk area.  Lots of places to sit, eat, shop, hang out and such.  A fun way to spend a day.

You know that panel is four days before GS' official release, right?  An ARC wouldn't be too terribly "advanced." :D

Okay, I'm not 100% sure if I'm clear to share this information, but as the news is bound to come out in the next few days anyway... Thanks to an agreement between Penguin and Mysterious Galaxy, Ghost Story will be available for sale at San Diego Comic Con.

Ok, now thats just cool :)  To give folks out there a chance, maybe, to get a signature while not being a part of the tour.  Very awesome of Jim and all associated.

these are the kind of posts that makes me want to go and live there.

Hehe.  I actually live in a town about 30ish miles SW of Naperville, but I used to work up that way and still see friends there from time to time.  Quite a bit to do in what is commonly referred to as Chicagoland.  Heck, they even call the speedway used for Nascar the Chicagoland Speedway even though it is technically about 30-40 miles outside of Chicago city limits in the city of Joliet.

Thank you, MX, are they pretty easy routes to follow, considering i've rarely driven at night outside of Wisconsin *L*

Welcome :)  The good thing is that it will still be light out when we get under way.  The event starts at 0700 and there should be plenty of light still at that time.  Jefferson is pretty well lit, in the times I've been there.  59 is well travelled, especially with the mall and all the shops/restaurants in that area.  There should be plenty of light to get you where you need to go.

If you get the chance, just check out Google maps and do a satellite overlay of the route and zoom in the the turning points.  The turn from 59 to Jefferson, for example, has a big Target store on the North side of Jefferson and a Portillos on the South and both are visible from 59.
