DF Spoilers / Re: Rudolph's evidence doesn't make sense
« on: September 25, 2020, 07:06:10 AM »
Maybe so. I think that would be cool by and large and Harry doesn't seem to use his foci that much anymore. But then again, even the older Wizards and such use foci. All the Senior Council use staves, The Merlin even has a wand, Eb has a shield bracelet I think, Rashid still uses ointment for seeing through glamours, even Vadderung uses his Spear and Eldest Gruff has a staff. Perhaps it's a personal choice thing.

I believe Harry also says it take more energy to work magic without foci. They can do it, but why sprint and be tired after a mile when you can jog and last for 5 miles?

DF Spoilers / Re: Did Ebeneezer use Mind Magic to make Thomas try the hit?
« on: September 25, 2020, 05:55:16 AM »
Hmmm...maybe. I was pointed out that when Harry found Thomas being held prisoner, Thomas was still wearing his running shoes. I was also told that hardcore runners do NOT wear their running shoes out and about. While Thomas may not be a hardcore runner, I don't see him walking around in his jogging gear for hours on end after the fact. So, the idea that I heard is that Thomas was captured rather quickly after he left the apartment. Harry and Eb were together for a while.

That being said, the whole Eb mind whammy Thomas could be possible. I agree that Eb is not the same in this book. He's been giving me serious alarm bells.  I personally think that Eb is Nemfected. It would be damn near impossible for a normal wizard to mind whammy Eb due to his age.

I personally don't think Thomas is in his straight mindset (besides being beaten silly to a pulp and severely hungry) either.

All of demonreach? Even for Harry’s most idiotic plans that would be overkill. Why not just one, promise to become its high priest and start human sacrifices? A big temple on demonreach and the sacrificial corpses on the trees? A cult with a holy island fortress?

It would fit due to looking at options and what would make something go from bad to worse? Maybe Harry would have no choice but too release all of Demonreach. Maybe he makes a pact with all the baddies to fight alongside him and Merlin and Alfred helps him reign them all in. Harry could very well push the self destruct button clearly labeled "DON'T PUSH". It's wishful thinking, Ill admit it. With it being a BAT, it would make a scenario go from bad to worse.

Perhaps Rudolph isn't anyone's catspaw anymore.

We know he *was* working for the Red Court, possibly with lots of mind-magic manipulation to make him obsessed with Harry and Murphy.

Then the Red Court died.

A lot of what's happened since is about the unintentional fallout of destroying the Red Court and leaving a vaccuum.

Perhaps Rudolph is another example -- without his Red Court handlers, the magical obsession is driving him on its own without intelligent direction.

Good point. Too much black magic can make you go bonkers.

Maybe it is Mr Grey posing as Lara? :o

Grey and Dresden laying in a ring...
B O I N K I N G

Freyda would go bonkers over that bromance.

My thought is the so called "British prisoner" is Merlin, he punished himself for breaking the law.  It would also fit with the mythology of him "sleeping."  Harry might do time travel to try and reconstruct what happened to Thomas and who is behind it to set it right if he can.

I'm hardcore wishing that this is true. If it is, it would be so cool (and fitting) if Harry released Demonreach during the BAT and the original Merlin fought by his side.

Not only that, but Ruddy the Brown Nosed has always been trying to smack down Harry and Murph. They never really say why besides trying to rise himself up to power. The thing is, his fascination with Harry and Murph is downright obsessive. Murph constantly dealt with the weird, unexplainable cases and was essentially in a dead-end job. So why did Rudolph have this bug up his rear toward her and Harry?

In Fool Mool, Ruddy was traumatized from the loup-garu (who wasn't) and Harry being Harry wasn't all to gentle (acting rather manically with a Snoopy doll) while trying to save the precincts collective asses. Seems kinda petty to hold onto that all this time. So what's his deal with Harry?

Did Murph deny him a date or something, and now he's all carrying a plan to make her life a living hell? Is he just sexist again female cops? Again, petty reasons.

I'm positive Marcone wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pool. Ruddy is a weasel and too much of a loud hassle. I picture Marcone buying off more quieter cops.

While Ruddy has been a severe pain in the tush, i don't believe his story has fully come to light and his reasons why. Even his partner was giving Harry and Murph the "I'm so sorry for this" eyes when they went to Murph's place. Rudoph is unhinged and on fire to tag Harry and Murph. Then again, he could just be a Morgan and is tired of seeing Murph and Harry get away with crap.

It might just really impress Lacuna. It is a lot of power after all.

Lucana might look at that, go "pfft, you're trying too hard", and punch him again in the noggin. Poor Toot will still be dazzled.

I really don't understand why we had to wait two months for the second book..  Why didn't they just sell them separately at the same time?

In a ComicCon interview this year, Butcher said that the best his publisher could do was 60 days.

I'm new to the forum.

When did Thomas learn that Dresden wasn't dead?  I don't remember reading anywhere that Thomas was told Dresden wasn't dead.

Thomas found out the hard way in Cold Days that Harry wasn't dead. He attacked Harry in the Water Beatle not realizing who it was. If i remember correctly, the only person that we know who knew Harry was alive was Molly.

It sucks. Kind of like when Paolini split Brisingr into 2 books and the Inheritance Trilogy became a series. During the splitting of Peace Talks into 2 books, there may have been scenes cut and shelved for future book use. Maybe the publisher told him that writing a book over 500 pages would technically "break" his contract and therefore increase the cost. Who knows... At least we only had to wait 60 days for part 2.

Maybe birthing Bonea has given Harry serious pregnancy/new mommy brain. We have no idea the ramifications that may happen and Bonea was extremely overdue. All mommy kind of lose it those first few years. I know I did, and i still haven't gotten it back. XD

Well, I guess being "tiny, yet fierce" has its cons as well as it perks ;)
