Title: Dresden Codex
Post by: Sarabeth59 on March 06, 2018, 01:33:54 PM
I tried - yes I did! to see if this question was previously addressed, but I did not find a thread. My question is, did Jim Butcher name the Dresden Files and the Codex Alera Series after the Dresden Codex?

The story goes that when working on the story, he had the TV on in the background.  He watched something that was talking about the bombing of Dresden in WW2, and he liked the name.

FWIW, Harry apparently came from something playing in the background where someone called out the name repeatedly, and it got stuck in his head.

I was just wondering, because of the cataclysmic events which occur in the Yucatán in Changes. I figured Mr. Butcher was expressing his interest in Mayan culture by incorporating the Dresden Codex by reference through series’ titles. Pretty cool whether or not it was his intention.
