DFRPG / Re: "Wild Card" Puck?
« on: July 06, 2018, 05:34:53 PM »
Didn't realize how long it's been since I checked in.

Found an entry on him on TV Tropes and got ideas for aspects:

Immortality Immorality: not sure if this should be a regular aspect (since he's a bad guy) or his trouble (not sure there is a point to an antagonist having a trouble). Alternatively, a trouble could be as simple as "Bored Immortal" leading him to accept ridiculous challenges like the game of poker Harry uses to best him.

Building to a Bad Future: whatever he's doing is building to a bigger plan

Ax Crazy: his whimsy about killing

What the Hell, Hero?: when someone does something he actually didn't expect

Again, sorry for being absent so long and, as always, I appreciate the input.

Thank you both for the ideas.

Sanctaphrax, I know what you mean about how hard it is to do a comprehensive "Monster Manual" for FATE. I came across a creature from Seminole folklore (which happens to be from the region of the US I live in) called a Stikini. It's basically a witch that becomes a were-owl. I've been looking to use lycanthrope rules, subbing the abilities of owls in the place of wolves. I bought pdfs of decks of FATE creatures which included owls.

Was rifling through dfrpg-resources and, under templates, I found a template for a Leprechaun Changeling

Realize this is coming about a week late (didn't think of it until the morning of St Patrick's) but has anyone worked out an NPC leprechaun? I want one for an one-time antagonist and was thinking it would have an ability that can make players reroll a die.

Would appreciate any help. Have tried looking online but, with the exception of dfrpg-resources (which is closing), there are not many resources for FATE characters. I wish they would come up with a FATE Monster Manual. I did find creature decks online, but it is mainly focused on High Fantasy creatures and did not have a leprechaun.

Thanks.

I'll break out the comics and make notes for you.

Has anyone who has been reading the comic given thought to how they might work in the game?

Seems to me, they are pretty much loup-garou without the actual curse or the catch. They live in the wild and don't appear to change to human.

Any thoughts?

At the moment, they aren't aware anything is going on. I plan on using Puck as a foil, never directly fighting them because I never statted him figuring he might be better as a plot device. Physically, he should be overpowered (in the comics, he suckerpunched Lea and knocked her a mile away. He recovered from gunfire, automatics and shotguns, almost instantly.)

I might try to develop him as a mental/social adversary.

DFRPG / Needing Help with a Campaign
« on: November 15, 2017, 02:55:03 PM »
I am finally running my Dresden campaign which I've been trying to get off the ground for 7 yrs (I procrastinate).

My overall plot involves a lost court of the Fae trying to resurrect their king, Oberon. My story behind this is that Oberon's court was driven out at the same time as the fomor.

Let me go ahead and say that I have been watching a lot of Disney's Gargoyles when this came to mind. I plan on the players encountering items which are part of a ritual. The first, which the players found when they stopped a fomor ritual, is an original printing of Midsumer's Night Dream with the inscription "Forget not the forgotten".

The problem I've hit is I'm not sure where to take it next. Only vague ideas of the other relics.

If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to offer them.

read the final issue and came to the conclusion that Puck will be best used as a plot device. The only way to defeat him appears to be by outsmarting him. He had huge chunks of flesh shot out of him and then both arms cut clean off. He healed from all of it in a matter of minutes. Definitely seems too powerful.

It has one issue left.

He is definitely a trickster. He's been manipulating the 3 major factions (Police, Mob, and White Court) into war. I think he is THE Puck from Shakespeare but, like Titania, made to fit into the Dresden world.

I would think he would have increased speed, strength and glamours or shapeshifting. He apparently can tear spirits from their bodies.

Here is the look they've given him (punkish). This is from www.Dynamite.com where they have sample pages for the book. (cannot remember if it's permitted to post links or not. If so, say so and I'll remove it.

Still has not revealed his true motives. Final issue comes out this week.

The aspect I suggested came from the end of #4 when Harry is asking Lea for information and she gets worried. Before she can tell him anything, she gets blindsides and knocked some distance away. This makes me think he is in her weight class.

He chases Murphy and keeps changing forms like the Nagloshi but also assumed the appearance of various people to stir up the confusion.

I was tempted to post this request in your thread about character requests but thought I'd see if anyone had already done the work. Tonight I'll comb back through the issues and assemble the relevant information on his abilities and either PM them to you or post it back in here.

We might be able to use what you've done as a base model and tweak it to what they've used in the comics.

Any help you can give, would be greatly appreciated.

Not that I know of.

I took a crack at the Puck from Shakespeare back in 2010, though. Is it the same guy?

Looking at those stats again, I don't love them but they're not terrible. No idea whether they match what the comic's Puck does, since I haven't read Wild Card.

Has anyone tackled adapting the character of Puck from the current Dresden comic "Wild Card"?

We know he's Wildfae

And I would give him the aspect of
(click to show/hide)
(spoiler if you haven't read issue 4 yet).

I have a player character who's been stalked for most of his life and thought about using Puck for the stalker.

good idea... I have tons of old RPG books (a lot being paranormal) I should be able to find some good ones. Have also been searching conspiracy theory websites for ideas.

DFRPG / Conspiracy Theories?
« on: May 22, 2015, 02:06:54 PM »
I have a player who's made a Vanilla Human who is a c-list actor from an old sci-fi show who has turned conspiracy theorist.

Last night he was describing the character to someone else as "take Shatner and mix him with the Tim Allen character from GalaxyQuest with a little bit of DC's Question thrown in". One of his possessions is a journal that he keeps his theories written in.

My plan is to seed his journal with clues for my plans for the campaign, but I need to throw in red herrings. I was wondering if anyone would like to make suggestions (no matter how crackpot they may be).

Appreciate any suggestions.

DFRPG / Yokai (Jade Court Idea)
« on: February 01, 2014, 05:22:06 PM »
Since there is precious little information about the Jade Court, I had an idea on how to utilize them in a campaign. Rather than have the JC directly involve themselves, use various creatures from Asian Mythologies as their agents.

I was wondering if anyone has pursued this line of thought and what creatures might have been statted?
