Cinder Spires Books / Re: Release Date?
« on: January 06, 2015, 02:49:06 PM »
I'm wondering if Jim will do a preview somewhere this spring and read the first three or four chapters to a live audience.
Didn't he already read quite a chunk which somebody put up on YouTube? It might be interesting to see how much of that remains unchanged ;)

Astronomically Summer starts in June, but I've always referred to Summer as starting at the end of May, at least in the UK everyone I know follows that rule, we're british so we need all the summer we can get. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same in the US, usually there's a holiday that goes with it like Memorial Day.
I usually think of it as:
  • Spring: March, April, May
  • Summer: June, July, August
  • Autumn/Fall: September, October, November
  • Winter: December, January, February
Is that the astronomical way?

I know this is soon, and the Steam punk Book is presumably next on the horizen, but I have to ask ... what is the most current info on the next Dresden book?

I just pop in now and then to catch up, and I didn't find anything on it in my look around ...

Thank you!  :-*
It's called Peace Talks so searching for that might be helpful: I'll leave it to forum gurus like Serack to pluck the WOJ links out of thin air "just like magic" ;)

I did attempt to add this to the Wiki but the resident dog-in-the-manger didn't like me being "speculative" (based only on a post on Jim's website and Jim himself saying so on Reddit—quote of the day "what is this Reddit thing?") and nixed it. :'( Maybe things have cooled down sufficiently we can try again?

If Ghost Story wasn't Harry stuck in an Insane Asylum without his powers I don't know what is.
Nobody in Ghost Story was suggesting that Harry had simply made up the events of the last couple of decades and was actually neither dead nor a wizard :P

Edit:  Holy cow, I'm listening to it and he mentions that one of the ideas he has from his old class notebook for a book is that he wants to have Dresden in an insane asylum with no magic.
You mean like the classic Buffy episode Normal Again?

Someone finally posted Jim's comedy panel from Phoenix Comic-Con!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ArpbO6wJdM
Is it just me or is the sound quality absolutely awful?

Do you think we could use the wiki as a staging post for cooperative transcription of these videos? Various people have done great jobs in the past, but it's difficult to suggest how to fill in gaps, not to mention it's not exactly fair for one person to get burdened with doing the whole thing just because they started it!

I was wondering, has anybody speculated as to whether other Norse gods, such as Thor or Loki, might be lurking in the background behind Odin? Also, now we've met Hades, what about other Greek/Roman gods like Apollo or Artemis? Is there existing discussion about this, and if not which would be the most suitable board to host a thread?

Hopefully, we will come up with... EUREKA I've got it!

(click to show/hide)

I am way too pleased with myself right now.
So now I have this picture of Mab and Tatiana glaring at you identically, saying in chorus "Are you saying my bottom quark looks big in this?" ???

The biggest surprise for me in the interview was the title of the next book. Do we have a particular place to discuss that?

Site Suggestions & Support / Whatever happened to the [glow] tag?

This used to work fine:
You mean like this?

That used to be 24point text, glowing red.

What happened? The manual here says it should still work.

No worries...debugging used to be my permanent job, and still takes up an indecent amount of my time ;)
* Phil recalls distantly the pal who modified his debugger so that the start-up message ran "debugger am here, sah!"…oh, those heady days before PC took over ;D

It's just been the last few days. Interestingly the problem seems to have gone away just now...did you maybe remove something while testing it?

I don't recall the exact error I was getting, but it was something like "expected an object"...Javascript is not my best language :(

I'm having some trouble with quoting when I enter replies: just clicking the "quote" link is giving me what I assume are Javascript errors.

I'm getting much the same when I try to preview.

This is happening in FF and IE.

Have there been any changes to the code lately?

Calendar Event Discussion / Is Jim ever likely to visit the UK?
« on: April 13, 2007, 02:03:41 PM »
For those of us with families, insufficient funds, or indeed both ;) there is no way we could ever get to the US to meet Jim.

Is he ever likely to be able to visit us in the UK instead?
