Title: Promotional Web Graphics
Post by: iago on May 08, 2010, 12:43:06 AM
I put together a few graphics for some web ad use earlier this week. If you're inclined to use it on your own blog/website/whatever, naturally we'd be pleased to see that. :)

You can find the graphics here: http://www.evilhat.com/media/webads/

(If you do, please link it to http://www.evilhat.com/store/ or http://www.dresdenfilesrpg.com/)

Those are cool.

Wish I had a website to use them with.

Oh, shiny!

I put it up here:

*edited 'cause what I said in this spot seemed pretentious and totally didn't mean to*

Graphics are always awesome, and those are great. Thanx for sharing them. :)

IŽve added them to my website www.asselberghs.dk

And I am linking them to www.dresdenfilesrpg.com

I seem to have done it correctly accross my site, but I presume my host is having caching problem of a sort. Only half of my site shows the banner. IŽll get in touch with them soonest and fix this issue.

Thanks for the awsome graphics:)

Question. Art being treated differently in many cases, is it acceptable to modify these images to better fit the web-site, or whatever, they are destined for?

For example, is there a problem if I take one of the animated GIFs and extract a single image from it?

I know that these animated ad images are all the craze now-a-days. However, I'm from a simpler time when pages just sat there and let you look at them, and I would prefer this behavior on my site.

I'm asking specifically for the "The Dresden Files Role Playing Game" image in the "Whats-Your-Story" GIFs, cause I want to take that image, add some transparency to the outlining border, and use it as the header of a page, instead of the simple text "The Dresden Files RPG" that I have now.

The "Display Problem" has vanished from my site, the banner and reference works all across my site.

I'd prefer no modifications, but if one of the two images which are static aren't workable, I suppose that's okay.

If you'd prefer I don't then I won't, no problem. I'll look into other options, and, worst-case, just use the text I originally had. Thanks for the answer. Ya'll are some of the most helpful devs I've ever interacted with and I appreciate all your hard work. :)

When you're small like us, you can't (and shouldn't) keep your fans at arm's length. :)

This graphic (http://www.evilhat.com/media/webads/160x600-DFRPG-Stand-Against.jpg) needs to be a bookmark!  An actual, printed bookmark, not a browser bookmark.

Funny you should say that. :)

No web site to put it up on (ok, I actually do have one but it is all private use), and I was poking around Facebook but didn't find a DFRPG group!  Perhaps a tiny banner that would go on the wall, or even just creating a group that could then show in wall feeds would be a good marketing idea?

Take care and thanks for all of the hard work!

Actually, there is a DFRPG group on FB. It's just not very active. There haven't been any wall posts since January or something.

For what it's worth, the name is The Dresden Files RPG.

I saw a few links for pages using the graphics, thought I would throw the one up for a campaign I'm starting set in Seattle.

Great! Thanks! Just starting this with my group, was going to keep a running blog on the process (because everyone likes reading about a new GM and her group, right? Shhh, give me this).  Needed a good graphic to tag the entries with!

Very nice! :) I just started a fantasy campaign using the DFRPG rules (a bit strange, I know, but that's me). I added one of the banners to my rotation at the bottom of the page. http://raventree.smallport.com (http://raventree.smallport.com)

Nobody's posted to this thread in ages and the links are dead, so I'm unstickying it. If you object for whatever reason, go ahead and say so.

imho All "live" (currently-published, in-print) RPGs should have hthis sort of resource available... if the links are dead, can EvilHat fix em?  But the resorce should be maximally-available...

You can contact Evil Hat easily enough through their website.

If the important links can be fixed, I can move this over to the Resources board. Makes more sense as a thread there than as a sticky here.

I'm not sure I can hunt 'em down any more. Retiring this thread makes sense.

I have a couple of sites that have been allowed, but the site graphics are not being loaded. I have tried enabling the Internet and allowing the graphics to be cached and then dis-abling then Internet but no luck.

Anyone had this problem or have a fix?

Thanks
