1. We have been told that Nicodemus has a very specific target in mind, ostensibly kept in the Labyrinth of Daedalus. What is Nic trying to get his hands on and why?
5. This is a Denarian book, so (unlike the last "end of the world" showdown), the Swords will almost certainly be present. In fact, there have been various hints... Which Sword wielders will appear in the next book and how will their interference/help affect the plot?
7. At the end of Cold Days, Harry needs to stay on the island to keep his growing headaches at bay. The start of Skin Games implies that those headaches will need to be resolved by the end of the book. Who or what is causing those headaches, and how will the whole thing get resolved by the end of the book?
8. One of the key components of the "Ocean's Eleven" movie is that there is a final twist/reveal. Given that we've got Nicodemus, Harry, Mab, and potentially Hades (and who knows who else) all trying to get the better of each other, if there's one thing you can count on it's some sort of last minute quintuple-cross. What will be the nature of the twist and how will it all fall out?
10. (Extra Credit) This is that "free form" question where you can come up with anything else you think will be in this book. Specific quotes Harry might say (will he actually quote Ocean's Eleven? The movie will have come out already in Harry's timeline)? Tidbits about the White Council? The fate of Molly? Write down anything you want. Note that whatever you write must be specifically mentioned or hinted at in Skin Games in order to be worth credit.
1. We have been told that Nicodemus has a very specific target in mind, ostensibly kept in the Labyrinth of Daedalus. What is Nic trying to get his hands on and why?Nicodemus doesn't ever have just one plan--he's there to grab something that he'll need to use for some other plan. My money's on the Spear of Longinus, or the items of power Perseus used in his myth (Hades' invisible helmet, Athena's mirror shield and...bugger, I forgot who gave him the sword. And there was some winged sandals too, I think?)
2. Nicodemus apparently called in a marker from Mab to get Harry on the team. Does he have a specific plan for using Harry or did Mab twist his request? Which of Harry's capabilities will he admit to needing, and (given that this is Nicodemus after all), which abilities is he scheming for Harry to use?Nicodemus definitely wanted Harry specifically--I'm imagining he's just been waiting for Harry to take the Winter Knight mantle so he could use this opportunity. He will admit to needing Harry's skills as an investigator--there's something or someone that Nicodemus needs to find for the plan--and he's scheming for Harry to use either Hellfire, Winter Ice, or Soulfire on something in Hades. My money's on Soulfire, because I have a feeling it will have an "interesting" effect in the land of the dead.
3. Jim has mentioned that the book will be "Ocean's Eleven". Who else did Nicodemus recruit? How will they interact with Harry? It'll be half new people, and half people Harry's met before. I'm going to go for the long shot and say Kumori is involved somehow, and Eldest Gruff (he seemed to show some respect to Magog before he splattered him).
4. Harry's general method of operation is to call on his friends for help. In this book, Harry is (initially) allowed one extra backup member on the crew. Who will it be? Which of Harry's other allies will "interfere" before the plot is over?Harry will pick Sanya to spite Nicodemus and in an attempt to keep him honest. Alternately, Harry will count on the Swords just showing up at some point anyway, and so will pick...Ms. Gard. Who better than a Valkyrie to guide one to the underworld?
5. This is a Denarian book, so (unlike the last "end of the world" showdown), the Swords will almost certainly be present. In fact, there have been various hints... Which Sword wielders will appear in the next book and how will their interference/help affect the plot?Sanya will be there because Sanya is awesome. Murphy will officially take up the sword (or be confirmed to have taken it up already). Michael will attempt to take up his sword again, but will find this to be a bad idea.
6. Mab is apparently against Nicodemus succeeding in this heist. In the Cold Days, we found that Mab had complex reasons for wanting Harry to kill Maeve. What are Mab's reasons in this book? Is it simple thwarting or is there something deeper?Definitely something deeper, and she's counting on Harry finding a way to screw Nicodemus out of his prize. My guess is she wants whatever he's after for her own purposes, and/or wants more information on who was involved in the attack at Arctis Tor.
7. At the end of Cold Days, Harry needs to stay on the island to keep his growing headaches at bay. The start of Skin Games implies that those headaches will need to be resolved by the end of the book. Who or what is causing those headaches, and how will the whole thing get resolved by the end of the book?I still think it's some form of Lash. While in Hades, she'll be given form somehow.
What will be the nature of the twist and how will it all fall out?The twist will involve Molly as some kind of ace in the hole--probably her use of illusion allowing her to be nearby right when Harry needs to turn the odds in his favor, or she'll have switched the real macguffin with an illusion. Harry will have no idea about this going into it.
9. (Extra Credit) There are many WAG ("Wild A$$ Guess") theories on the boards, some crazier than others. Write up to three WAG theories (or make up your own) you believe are correct that will be confirmed (or at least have evidence in favor of) in Skin Games. That Murphy's already taken up the Sword of Faith.

Note that whatever you write must be specifically mentioned or hinted at in Skin Games in order to be worth credit.Harry will ask whether they're doing the Sinatra or Clooney version, then dither over which he prefers (Clooney because they all get away with the loot, or Sinatra because they don't). Harry will call dibs on Brad Pitt.

1. We have been told that Nicodemus has a very specific target in mind, ostensibly kept in the Labyrinth of Daedalus. What is Nic trying to get his hands on and why?Whatever Ferovax got in the box at Bianca's party. I like the "Hope from Pandora's box" theory a lot, and this could be one and the same. Yes, we won't see Ferovax until the last book, but if he banks with Hades he might have the object there.
2. Nicodemus apparently called in a marker from Mab to get Harry on the team. Does he have a specific plan for using Harry or did Mab twist his request? Which of Harry's capabilities will he admit to needing, and (given that this is Nicodemus after all), which abilities is he scheming for Harry to use?Concur that Demonreach opens up to Tartarus and Nic wants to use the Back Door. Harry will be sorely tempted to have the island imprison them all. But, Harry is also good at finding things and people. Anna Valmont, among them. Lastly, because Nic does things for multiple reasons, he intends to use Harry for barter. Coming back from the dead annoyed some of the greater powers, and Nic will try to hand Harry over in exchange for cooperation.
3. Jim has mentioned that the book will be "Ocean's Eleven". Who else did Nicodemus recruit? How will they interact with Harry?Concur Mavra will be on the team. She only works for herself, but she makes deals.
4. Harry's general method of operation is to call on his friends for help. In this book, Harry is (initially) allowed one extra backup member on the crew. Who will it be? Which of Harry's other allies will "interfere" before the plot is over?Probably Thomas. He might also try to get an extra secret-hiding ally along, like Toot or Bob. I suspect we will see interference from Sanya, Daniel, Michael (confirmed, AFAIK), Murphy, and Fix
5. This is a Denarian book, so (unlike the last "end of the world" showdown), the Swords will almost certainly be present. In fact, there have been various hints... Which Sword wielders will appear in the next book and how will their interference/help affect the plot?Agree that Sanya will probably die. Daniel will be denied the chance to wield a sword, and will be so desperate to save the day he will take up a coin while Michael watches.
6. Mab is apparently against Nicodemus succeeding in this heist. In the Cold Days, we found that Mab had complex reasons for wanting Harry to kill Maeve. What are Mab's reasons in this book? Is it simple thwarting or is there something deeper?Mab wants to keep her knight. She knows that Nicodemus, whatever he promised, will try to kill Dresden. So, she has to advise Dresden to dutifully assist in completing the heist, but also tell him to skin Nic alive before Nic can do the same. I don't think she actually said she had any problem with the heist itself, just that she wanted Nic skinned alive.
7. At the end of Cold Days, Harry needs to stay on the island to keep his growing headaches at bay. The start of Skin Games implies that those headaches will need to be resolved by the end of the book. Who or what is causing those headaches, and how will the whole thing get resolved by the end of the book? The lovebaby Evil!Bob put on Harry's tongue way back in the day. Getting his baby was Evil!Bob's condition for helping Nic.
What will be the nature of the twist and how will it all fall out?The whole Heist was engineered by Odin to lure a bunch evil dudes into Tartarus and/or Demonreach, there to be detained. However, this will be thrown into chaos when Marcone uses the heist to take the godhood of Hades and go from lord of the Chicago underworld to Lord of the Underworld Period.
9. (Extra Credit) There are many WAG ("Wild A$$ Guess") theories on the boards, some crazier than others. Write up to three WAG theories (or make up your own) you believe are correct that will be confirmed (or at least have evidence in favor of) in Skin Games. The Favor Mab owed Nic will be revealed to actually be the favor Cat Sith owed Nic. Cat Sith was Harry's Batman in exchange for Mab taking up Cat Sith's debt to Nic. I just noticed Nic and Sith use similar phrasing. Either they spent enough time together for one to pick up the other's phrasing, or Jim just thinks "Tempus Fugit" is something smart evilish dudes like to say.
In the first part of Cold Days Thomas mentioned how scary Lara is getting, to the degree of reaching for national control. Harry put her on his "to do" list. Lara will not get resolved in this book, but we will se a plot seed for her to be the central point of the next book.
4. The White Council will finally believe Harry has gone warlock and will attempt to kick him off the council. Eb, the Gatekeeper, and others will push it to a full vote of the council. The merlin will list everything Harry has done that is terrible. Someone will stand for Harry and defend him, listing all of the times he has prevented catastrophe. Surprisingly, the council will vote to keep Harry on the white council. He will be stripped of his title as Warden, but will still be THE Warden of DemonReach.
1. We have been told that Nicodemus has a very specific target in mind, ostensibly kept in the Labyrinth of Daedalus. What is Nic trying to get his hands on and why?Primarily the Staff of Moses, aka the Spear of Destiny, Holy Lance, or about 10 other names, because of its ability to manufacture plagues (not just diseases like the shroud) and its symbolical significance to TWG and his followers. Secondarily, he wants the soul of Helen Beckitt's daughter both as payment to Marcone for lending him Gard (more on this later) and in an attempt to recruit Marcone.
2. Nicodemus apparently called in a marker from Mab to get Harry on the team. Does he have a specific plan for using Harry or did Mab twist his request? Which of Harry's capabilities will he admit to needing, and (given that this is Nicodemus after all), which abilities is he scheming for Harry to use?I think he specifically requested Harry for multiple reasons (why do anything for only one after all?). The first being that the entrance to Tartarus lies on Demonreach (maybe even in the well, though I doubt it), without Harry's permission or assistance the plan is ruined almost before it began. The second being that as a mortal who has "died" and returned, Harry likely will be able to reveal things about the Underworld that "normal" mortals (or non-mortals) would miss. At the very least, he would be a good distraction for Hades while the rest of the group is getting the vault if it should come to that. I also suspect that he is scheming for Harry to use Soulfire and attract a lot of things attentions (not the least of all being Hades).
3. Jim has mentioned that the book will be "Ocean's Eleven". Who else did Nicodemus recruit? How will they interact with Harry?1. Nicodemus (brains)
4. Harry's general method of operation is to call on his friends for help. In this book, Harry is (initially) allowed one extra backup member on the crew. Who will it be? Which of Harry's other allies will "interfere" before the plot is over?Harry's plus 1 will be Thomas because picking anyone else would leave Chicago "undefended". Besides which, he wants to show that he trusts his brother and make up for the whole, "you're a monster" thing from CD. Sanya will definitely interfere leading Mouse, Molly, Kincaid, and Murphy as a "rescue party" for Harry.
5. This is a Denarian book, so (unlike the last "end of the world" showdown), the Swords will almost certainly be present. In fact, there have been various hints... Which Sword wielders will appear in the next book and how will their interference/help affect the plot?Sanya will show up, possibly at the beginning to try convincing Harry not to help Nico but definitely at the end to counter Nico's inevitable double cross during which he will die. They'll run into Shiro's shade who will convince Murphy to take up the Sword of Faith (I"m not even gonna try to spell it).
6. Mab is apparently against Nicodemus succeeding in this heist. In the Cold Days, we found that Mab had complex reasons for wanting Harry to kill Maeve. What are Mab's reasons in this book? Is it simple thwarting or is there something deeper?Mab is smart enough to realize that Nico is a dangerous enemy and is still pissed off about his breaking of the accords. Besides which, she wants Harry to become experienced in double crosses, especially in surviving them.
7. At the end of Cold Days, Harry needs to stay on the island to keep his growing headaches at bay. The start of Skin Games implies that those headaches will need to be resolved by the end of the book. Who or what is causing those headaches, and how will the whole thing get resolved by the end of the book?Lash, the "child" of Lasciel and Harry, who will be released from Harry's head by Molly and will exist as a spirit while in the Underworld before obtaining her own body (either by magic or possession) possibly Helen Beckitt's daughter.
What will be the nature of the twist and how will it all fall out?Nico will attempt to con the rest of the team and take the loot by turning them against Harry and trying to get out when no-one's watching. This will be ruined by Sanya's rescue team who help Harry and by Tessa who will lead a team of denarians specifically to stop Nico (with Hades blessing). While this big clusterfuck of a fight is going on, Anna Valmont will steal the loot and escape to Earth, where she sells it to the highest bidder, Marcone and who knows what he'll do with it.

10. (Extra Credit) This is that "free form" question where you can come up with anything else you think will be in this book. Specific quotes Harry might say (will he actually quote Ocean's Eleven? No angel killed Harry. Unless you mean the shadow.
In Norse mythology. Garm (a giant ferocious dog) guards the gate to Hels realm, the underworld. In Greek mythology, Cerberus (a giant ferocious dog) is given to Hades to guard the entrance to the underworld: to keep live people out and dead people in. The only difference is that Cerberus has three heads.

1. We have been told that Nicodemus has a very specific target in mind, ostensibly kept in the Labyrinth of Daedalus. What is Nic trying to get his hands on and why?The remaining stored Denarian coins, given the WoJ where Jim carefully didn't say where they were kept, probably implying it would become important in a future plot.
2. Nicodemus apparently called in a marker from Mab to get Harry on the team. Does he have a specific plan for using Harry or did Mab twist his request? 1. We have been told that Nicodemus has a very specific target in mind, ostensibly kept in the Labyrinth of Daedalus. What is Nic trying to get his hands on and why? He's trying to get his hands on Pandora's box. He intends to use it to cure Thorned Namy's coin of the Nemesis infection.
2. Nicodemus apparently called in a marker from Mab to get Harry on the team. Does he have a specific plan for using Harry or did Mab twist his request? Which of Harry's capabilities will he admit to needing, and (given that this is Nicodemus after all), which abilities is he scheming for Harry to use?Neither. Nick has a goal in mind, but no set specific plan. Nick will hand the entire planing of the heist over to Dresden.
3. Jim has mentioned that the book will be "Ocean's Eleven". Who else did Nicodemus recruit? How will they interact with Harry?
4. Harry's general method of operation is to call on his friends for help. In this book, Harry is (initially) allowed one extra backup member on the crew. Who will it be? Which of Harry's other allies will "interfere" before the plot is over?I think Harry's initial Plus 1, will be Molly. It generally won't be well known that Molly is the new Winter Lady, and as such Nick will not be expecting any of her actions.
5. This is a Denarian book, so (unlike the last "end of the world" showdown), the Swords will almost certainly be present. In fact, there have been various hints... Which Sword wielders will appear in the next book and how will their interference/help affect the plot?I expect that Murphy will get over her hang up regarding the sword & finally take it up full time. Nothing spectacular, but I don't see anyone else qualifying currently.
6. Mab is apparently against Nicodemus succeeding in this heist. In the Cold Days, we found that Mab had complex reasons for wanting Harry to kill Maeve. What are Mab's reasons in this book? Is it simple thwarting or is there something deeper?I question the premise of this question. Obviously, Mab knows how Harry thinks. Getting him to agree to this operation, pretty much hinges on the notion of betraying Nick.
7. At the end of Cold Days, Harry needs to stay on the island to keep his growing headaches at bay. The start of Skin Games implies that those headaches will need to be resolved by the end of the book. Who or what is causing those headaches, and how will the whole thing get resolved by the end of the book? There has been a few hints already, that the parasite is Lash. I suspect she allowed herself to be infected by Nemesis during the Outsider attack by Vittrio, so that she could act against her nature.
What will be the nature of the twist and how will it all fall out?I suspect that the last Churchmouse will end up taking up a Denarian coin, either to outright kill Nick. Or join up with him, for some unknown reason. Potentially, the new bearer of Lashiel.
9. (Extra Credit) There are many WAG ("Wild A$$ Guess") theories on the boards, some crazier than others. Write up to three WAG theories (or make up your own) you believe are correct that will be confirmed (or at least have evidence in favor of) in Skin Games. Can't think of anything WAGish, really.
10. (Extra Credit) This is that "free form" question where you can come up with anything else you think will be in this book.Harry will be put in front of the White Council, with a vote to determine if he's allowed to retain membership. I suspect that the vote will be close, with Ebenezer, the Gatekeeper & Listens to Wind voting for keeping Harry. The Merlin, Christos & Martha Liberty voting against. Ancient Mai providing the unexpected tie breaking vote, that keeps Harry in the Council.
It's also, "Because you owe me, Mab, do I NEED a reason to bring your demi-god of destruction?"Yeeeessssss?
The better question in my mind is, WHY does Mab feel the need to clean all her slates? I think we'll find out that HER motivation is more the point for down the road. As in, Mab knows something BIG BIG BIG is coming and she wants to consolidate all the power she can by paying off her debts, which represent holds on her power.
Yeah, but Nic's a wiseass. And between him and Anduriel, he knows enough to know how far to push it. I think it's something like, "Look at all the power he brings to the table, why WOULDN'T I want him to assault a god? It's what he DOES." And the fact that she owes him will just sit there like a gun on the table. But that begs the question of "does Mab feel the need to clean all her slates?" Mab owing Nic may be a gun on the table, but Mab doesn't actually worry about guns, as we have seen. She can ignore it at will, if she wants.
The better question in my mind is, WHY does Mab feel the need to clean all her slates? I think we'll find out that HER motivation is more the point for down the road. This critter has to be in Skin Games ... (http://10steps.sg/wp-content/uploads//2012/10/Cerberus-wallpaper.png)
I am intrigued by the League of Evil. JB says we would know some because they have appeared in the books already. I say Mavra, one of the Goblins from the encounter in Changes, Red Cap, and Talos. those are the ones I think so far. not majorly evil but might show.. Binder, Churchmouse,
...and if any of the above three posters would like to add a set of predictions to their posts, that would also be welcome... ;D
I just want to point out one thing I'm recalling from the MisCon reading: It's not Nicodemus to whom Mab owes the favor and is loaning Harry, but rather to Anduriel. Shouldn't one of the questions (if not THE question) be what does Anduriel and/or the group of The Fallen (as opposed to Nicodemus and the rest of the servitors or whatever-Mab-calls-him) need from Hades vault?
This might support one of the possible scenarios I mention above when I took my swing at the "predictathon": when Harry strangled Nicky, he really DID kill him and Nicodemus' soul went to hell. Anduriel wants it back--he's now the sole inhabitant of Nick's body. Possibly his effort to get Nick's soul back is because of a bargain between himself (Anduriel) and Nick.
We see Nicodemus in the four chapters Jim read, he's still in his body though he does seem to have aged a bit from the experience.
We saw Nicodemus' body in the four chapters Jim read. The spirit inside could be Anduriel's. And recall that Mab and Demonreach kept Harry's body alive while he was running around irritating folks in GS, so is possible.
Having said that, wasn't my most favored of possible scenarios I put fowrad in my "predictathon" entry. I like the one involving the Golden Fleece much better because the potential for double-crosses between all the potential players is much greater.
1. We have been told that Nicodemus has a very specific target in mind, ostensibly kept in the Labyrinth of Daedalus. What is Nic trying to get his hands on and why?
It's probably actually a trick: he's trying to entrap Harry, to get an edge on Mab, and perhaps the keys to Demonreach. But to be convincing to Harry, he'd probably say something dramatic, like, oh, the soul of Judas Iscariot, or something.
Hey Guys -- please read the following:
I realize a bunch of you have questions you've left unanswered "for future consideration". I strongly urge you to fill in the blanks now.
There have already been two major sets of spoilers released since the OP, and my fellow curators have had to take steps to ensure those who predicted correctly get credit.
Unless something changes, I plan to lock the thread in the beginning of March, but I claim the right to lock it instantly if I feel things have been compromised. Get your final answers in while you can.
You have been warned
Coupla questions K...
Where may the two major sets of spoilers be viewed, and where will those who get things right be given credit (when I assume will be sometime after release of SG).
Thanks,
Bilal
The first would be the blurb for the book which can be found on the main website, the second would be the interview that confirmed who Harry will be taking with him on the trip.
Haven't seen the latter. Where might I find it?
And thanks, TCF...

Keep in mind that blerbs and such should be taken with salt. Remember the Dead Beat blerb discussing 6 necromancers Harry had to beat or some such.
There is a huge double cross, Harry is in huge danger. Molly pleas with Murphy, who is still reluctant to use the Sword, especially to take it down into the pit of Hell. Molly, makes a plea to her Dad to talk some sense into her. With Sanya at his side Michael tells Murphy he will take up the Sword one more time for Harry's sake, and the three Swords together are strong enough to withstand anything that Hell or Denarians can throw at them... She agrees, so they decend into Hell to rescue Harry.. There is a battle, either Michael dies or Murphy dies in the battle and briefly to salvage the mission and save his remaining friends, Harry takes up the either the Sword of Faith or Love, and is a Holy Knight for a day. I think one way or another there will be a great sacrifice of a main character in this book, with even more lasting effects on Harry than even the sacrifice of Susan.
Alternative prediction, is our fears that something has happened to Murphy since Changes, bares fruit, just when Harry thinks the mission is a success, everyone is okay, the parasite is going to be removed from his head.. Nick or Deidre gives the "high sign" and Murphy changes and is about to hand over her Sword to Nick. Harry must intervene, he gains back the Sword, but in the process Murphy is either killed or leaves with Nick and Deidre. Michael is on hand to console Harry, who is inconsolable. Michael promises to train up a new Knight to fill the ranks since Harry cannot be both Winter Knight and Holy Knight at the same time.. Possible candidates? Butters and Daniel..
If it is Pandora's Box that they are after, Lash will leave Harry's head and take the place of Elpis who has been killed in the great battle that has taken place at the vault. Thus though not completely redeemed herself, she becomes a symbol of redemption.
Mira, for "grading" sake, it is preferable that you copy the questions from knnn’s OP and fill in your “answers” to each question.Sorry, never did this before.. Modified my first post to reflect some of the questions.
