Display Case / Re: DISPROVE THIS

Maybe Molly went back in time, together with Bob the spirit of intelligence, he taught her the ascension rite to become Mab.

Later on Molly realizes you didn't have to do the rite naked and that is why Bob had to flee from Mab/Molly.

He ends up in the skull and is on his path to Harry again.

The reason he won't talk to Harry about what he argued with Mab about is because it would reveal things in Harrys future even though it's in Bob's past and discussing future things before it has happened is dangerous.

Best spoof post yet.

Nope. Try Lash, being aware of what is going on via her implanting in Dresden, notes the errors in set up (perfect memory, remember?). Whispers to her full self that the host they both want is in danger, and that a small amount of power directed here, there, and yes, over there, is just enough to fix it. No need to erase memories, as Lash was quite capable of doing things without Harry being aware of it, Lasciel is most likely a strong enough entity that she could manipulate energy in a fashion that Bob couldn't sense. And I mentioned rules of binding.....one of which is that a mortal has to take the coin by his or her free will.
But we don't know when, or who were the stars of the sacrificial show. It could easily have been other, lesser fae in all cases that led to the Big Three we know and love....
Except that there had to be. The ice -never- reached the tropics.....and the polar regions never became vacation spots for Floridians. Sure, I doubt that any 'court' existed as such until mortal man's imagination provided the concepts needed, but the forces of nature were there from the get go.
...divided by the sqare root of 2 = buffer overflow.

FYI, Antarctica has been tropical in the far past.

DFRPG / Re: Anyone gaming Dresden anymore?
« on: January 07, 2008, 04:27:35 AM »
For a while there were several posters giving updates as to how they were using various systems to run a campaign in the Dresdenverse, but recently this section of the board has been very quiet.

Perhaps this happened at the same time as Fred announced alpha playtesting of THE REAL THING and somehow homebrew games seem less interesting? Maybe people just didn't have anything new to report? I'm hoping that the lack of conversation here isn't indiciative of low long-term interes...

Anyway, I've experimented with Dresden in a couple different game systems with varying degrees of success...
1. Amber Diceless -- this works surprisingly well, since so many of the characters are supernaturals. In a mostly mundane world, it would have some issues.
2. Buffy -- I've found that BtVS (Eden Games) has the right kind of feel, perhaps because Buffy is written with wry humor in much the same way as Dresden. Also I find that I can use some of their ideas for vampires and spells and other things that fit well into Harry's world.
3. Monte Cook's World of Darkness -- this plays like most any d20 system, and typically you like it or hate it. I find some of the ideas (particularly the magic system) to be particularly clever, but overall the system is bulky and cumbersome.
4. Spirit of the Century -- of late I've drifteed back to SotC as my Dresden rule system of choice, in anticipation of the SotC system being similar to Dresden Files. I know that the magic system will be different, but at least my players will be used to the funky +/- dice.  ;D

Anyone else running Dresden at the moment?

The new Basic Role Playing is out from Chaosium, just got my copy and it looks like fun.

DF TV Series / Re: Thanks to all our great fans!

Three or more seasons? That remains to be seen. Honestly, you'd think TPTB could get of ftheir collective fundement and give us some news.I think that every other series on Sci-Fi knows what's going on except us.  Hells bells, the goverment works faster. This is torture, tortment and travail, all rolled into one large, icky bundle.

tud

How were the numbers?  Viewers, ad revenue, cost per show, that sort of thing?  Heck, how are the DVD pre-orders going and how is it doing in re-runs now?

What about the magical equivalent of telekinesis?  He might not be able to touch type, but he might be able to manage point-and-click (as opposed to search-and-destroy).

Err, how does he do it without breaching the circle?

DFRPG / Re: The Dresden Files RPG -- Information Thread

Keep in mind that the basic Fate3 system really needs no playtesting because that was done for Spirit of the Century. The majority of the work now is tinkering with the magic system (which is different from SotC) as well as development of "Dresden Baltimore" (which will be a potential "default" setting designed to compliment but not conflict with "Dresden Chicago" and Jim's writings).

Ah, I was wondering just how much information the game would add to the books.

Guess this kind of answers the question.
