Title: Necromancy and the BC (BG Spoiler)
Post by: The Gulledge on October 21, 2020, 04:53:58 AM
So call me simple, but anyone else surprised/curious why Harry didn't use necromancy against the BC during Battleground? Or even think about it in a 'well shit be real nice if I could use it' manner?

I'm not sure it would have done that much good, because Mavra was already in the process of doing just that.

It never has been explained, how necromancy can be used against the BC.  I mean Harry comes out and says it can be at the end of Dead Beat, but what would that look like?  Since the BC are basically dead you could control them like puppets?

Would have been real helpful to have shared the easy button for wrecking Blamps with LtW and Carlos and the other sometime in the years since learning it. He already admitted reading the Darkhallow; it wouldn't have compromised him that much more to mention "oh, and I saw something on another page while looking for it that you guys should know..."

Carlos is holding Harry accountable for their friends dying for the wrong reasons, but having kept that to himself is actually pretty bad.

Harry wasn't expecting Black Court at all (even though Vadderung warned him about exactly that, Harry is dumb sometimes) until there were within quipping distance and then Drakul stole all of his attention with those lovely eyes.

I don't even mean specifically before that fight. Sometime in the years since DB and BG.

Somehow I doubt sharing some cool and useful tricks with necromancy from the Word of Kemmler would have gone down well with the White Council.

why Harry didn't use necromancy against the BC during Battleground?
Because it's a violation of the don't use necromancy law of magic.

Because it's a violation of the don't use necromancy law of magic.
Because it's a violation of the don't use necromancy on humans law of magic.

I am sure the law is vague enough to get away with it if they like him and to get him beheaded if they don't. A lot of them don't like him.

He got away with Sue but I think black court vampires can be seen as human bodies, you can also see it differently as complete seperate monsters.

But they are usually seen as dead human bodies so it also depends on what Harry really is doing with his necromancy, that is never stated.

That's the implicit part of basically all the laws of magic. Just not the time travel and reaching beyond the Outer Gates ones.

I think black court vampires can be seen as human bodies.
I think this is the case.

And yes, humans are a squishy category. (I'm sure I could do better with this pun, but it's late, and I'm going to bed).

Idk but I think the reason we suddenly have another case file coming our way is because Jim wants to do a full book on Harry's revenge on the BCV's and drakul.
