Really enjoyed today's New York Times article featuring Jim.  Great advice for writers.

Calendar Event Discussion / Re: Where would YOU like Jim to appear?
« on: April 02, 2011, 01:57:25 AM »
He's been to Houston at least two of the last three tours and we did get the launch so not expecting it again.  Maybe the fact that there was such a great event and the publisher had to arrange for extra books when the store sold out the morning of will play in our favor.

I love the store and glad they got the business but it was even ill suited (parking, sitting, hearing, purchasing, etc.) in 2008 with half the people.  However, I don't think there are any better stores.  For Charlaine Harris MBTB arranged for the event at the downtown Public Library which has a large hall and parking.

Will try to youtube some of the Q&A, etc. Took it with an old camcorder I'd never used so it did not come out good and only got like 30 minutes of haphazard footage.  Since I have never done this uploading before it may take me some time to convert from stupid Sony format but will try to do it asap.

6
Asked about the short hair and Jim said it had something to do with "Changes" (which I haven't read yet).

7
Jim was great as usual.  It was nice to meet members and hang out.  I was fortunate to be able to sit on the ground near the front (MBTB was kind enough to save a chair for my pregnant wife).  How long did people stay?

Any consensus on when an where post signing?   The Gingerman in Rice Village?

9
Store is open so you can call or go by to pick up and get an early line number.  I did so at about 7:45am.

10
Just an FYI:  probably cannot come out tonight as have to drive to Katy and earliest Goode Co. around 5 but want to hang out post-signing.

11
Any Houston locals, or others that made it here already want to get together tonight?
I probably can't join you guys until 9:00 if I can at all but will confirm.  Maybe we can PM each other cell numbers

12
I might be able to meet tonight.  Around what time would be good?  I think Rice Village bar, like The Gingerman, would be good as it is close to MBTB if you want to check out the book store location also.  Please do not choose anything based on me.

Mickey Finn's photo is here and I believe he plans to be at Goode Co. around 2ish?  I'm a scrawny Indian guy and hopefully can come early but likely later afternoon.

Yes, Goode Company BBQ from 2:00pm onwards.

Want to be there early but may not make it until late afternoon.

, are we able to bring our own copies of 'Changes' in or are we required to buy a copy there in order to get it signed?
From 2008 MBTB experience must purchase any Butcher hardcover (even though policy reads "the"); can get three signed first time through the line; and didn't require a second Butcher purchase to go through the line a second time.  You can see my past postings for suggestions.

For those interested in walking, Goode Co. BBQ is about a quarter of mile or so; five minute walk; around same as driving so you can plan accordingly.
