DF Spoilers / Re: Inconsistent characters & storytelling
« on: October 01, 2020, 10:27:46 AM »
I felt these changes in PT to some characters but not in BG.

Lara had a long game to play and her scenes in BG felt like herself. She needed Harry in PT to gain her goals. Her persona was polite but she too liked Harry after the events of TC more it seems. I need to reread the series to see how her actions in PT truly felt.

Eb and Carlos were the big ones for me. Both I can rationalise to a point. But their energy felt off. I feel Nemesis is running wild in the council and has one or both of them. Eb felt more in character. Carlos has his reasons.

Justine is explained at the end.

Who else did you feel felt out of whack? There was a lot going on in this book.

DF Spoilers / Re: New Drop Chapter Three

Given what I know go the timeline for PT, the split happened well after THE END was written. I remember there being a very long wait between the end and the release date announcement, many were very irritated over at Reddit.

Christmas Eve was done well before the split.

Really looking forward to PT and their interactions. I expect it to feel a little like when a Thomas lived with Harry in that there will be some growing pains but in the most awkward and heart felt way.

Made me really like Maggie too. Loved that Jim has a character so open about her social anxiety. I’m so glad her awful past isn’t being glossed over.

DF Spoilers / Re: Body Slam title meaning guesses

As suggested in another thread, if slam also means prison, perhaps the gods are in a prison like context, dualing it out?

Jim has confirmed in a recent signing Austin is just a minor character with no plans to use him in the future... as yet.

I love that Jim has this outline of the series but has kept it loose enough to allow additions and  changes to the smaller details.

Dual meaning to the title perhaps? Maybe the environment where the gods wrestle is like a prison of sorts? And we are dealing with an outcast of gods?

7
I feel that being quite close to the BAT means that regardless of having wrestling as a theme, the book will no doubt be epic. It’s Dresden after all. The premise of so many of the books in a sentence sounds bizzare but when read, are truely magical.

Has this forum truly died where a book title announcement takes a few days to come up and gets little discussion? Or is it just sleeping time in the US now?

Can’t see this here but at the Lexington book signing, Jim told a redditer the title of book 18 (the book about wrestlers and fallen gods).

The title is: Body Slam.

See quote below:
Quote
So Jim Butcher had a book signing at Joseph Beth booksellers tonight. He made reference to a few things, like a couple of spin off series, one about Ebenezer in the French and Indian War and the Knight he knew (I'm not saying the who because I can't remember how to spoiler tag at the moment), and one called Monster LLC.

When I got my book signed, I told him I was a retired independent wrestler and I was looking forward to something down the road. He smiled and told me he has settled on the book title of Body Slam.

Then I referred to the joke another poster and I made about John Cena being a White Court vamp that learned a veil. Jim laughed and then began singing Cena's theme song.

Good stuff

I know it's been ages but damn if this book is a series highlight (which says so much given how good this series is) then th wait will be worth it.

DF Spoilers / Kumori's Identity (Spoilers)
« on: December 17, 2017, 05:11:45 AM »
Just reading up on WoJ, great reading by the way.
It is mentioned by Jim we will see Faith again in an event that kicks off the final trilogy...
Just had a thought, what if Faith is Kumori? Could there be a valid connection between the two? Kumori is young... but quite powerful. How many years prior did Welcome To The Jungle happen before Dead Beat? 6, maybe 7? Would this make Faith still very young? And if it is Faith, why the name Kumori?

DF Books / Re: Did you discover the books because of the TV Show?
« on: October 18, 2009, 02:07:44 PM »
I am a sucker for catch phrases and blurbs. I was looking for a good Fantasy book at Borders and I came across this book. The cover was plain (at the time they only stocked the UK editions) but on teh front, it read, 'Magic... it could get a wizard killed'. I snorted out loud and turned over the back, read the blurb, liked that and then proceeded to read the first page or two and was LOVING the character of Harry and how it was told in the first person. So cool. Needless to say I am now an addict. The DF are my crack. Thankyou JB!

Site Suggestions & Support / Interview Thread
« on: February 16, 2009, 01:32:09 AM »
A couple of months ago I stumbled ona thread that had a lot of Jim's interview's and Youtube videos. It was compiled into one big list. I have since not bookmarked it and have lost track of where it went. Does anyone know the thread I am talking about and could the please link me to it? It would be muchly appreciated.
