Just a quick question I had when re-reading Skin Game.  Early on, the same day "Squire Jordan" has his tongue bitten out, he

First, that's an awfully quick heal (maybe he had help), but more importantly, is it possible to whistle with no tongue?

Well, I managed to whistle with tongue up and tongue down; putting it left or right gave more trouble but still possible.

So I'd say yes; whistling is done by breath and lips, not tongue.
