Whipped these up last night for a game I am going to run with new players to the Fate system. My thought process was that poker chips are fine for experienced people, but a card with "reminder text" of what fate points can be used for would be helpful. I am curious what others think.

They look pretty sweet, however they say fuel a stunt when you can also fuel a power. It's only a minor difference and not a very important one though.
-
Dig em. Any chance you'll be posting a pdf or image file when you decide you're satisfied with them?
-
Looks great! :D I would appreciate a pdf, too!!!
-
Thanks for the Fuel a Power remark Sinker, I will make that edit.
As far as sharing a print ready PDF, whats the legality of me (a private individual) sharing something with others that has the DFRPG logo on it? Would hate to step on any Evil Hat toes. I enjoy their products too much for that.
-
I would run the idea past the folks at Evil Hat, and see what they have to say. However looking at the Download section they have for fan-created items (lists, character sheets etc.) it is my opinion that they would not be averse to the cards, and might even put them on the EH/DFRPG site. That said, I would love a print-ready PDF of these cards, as well.
-
Hrm... copyright legalities...
Well, Evil Hat probably got the art as work-for-hire or at least got the right to remix it in the license agreement, so release your design to them under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/) license with none, one blue pixel, or whatever specified as the method of attribution. That way they can release it under any terms they're allowed and you're under no threat from the copyright cops.

Those are great. I would love to have them for my game. :)

From what I've seen Fred is plenty fine with stuff like that so long as people run it by him. Send him an email with a link to this thread and ask him what he thinks.
-
Thanks all, I will finish my tweeks. Shoot some email off to Fred and then hopefully share a Print ready PDF for all to enjoy!
-
Fred got back to me fast! And it is with his blessing that I share a link to my final high resolution PDF.

Hope you enjoy them as much as I will. Thanks for all the interest, and if you have any suggestions feel free to drop me a line.

How would people feel about kicking this over to the Resources board?
I'm kinda loath to start a new thread there, but this sure looks like a Resource to me.
-
Would go nicely as a pinned resource even.
-
Eh. About half that board deserves to be pinned.
And there's only one page of threads to view. Kinda defeats the point.
Still, that's beside the point. I'll report it.
-
That was amazingly fast.
-
Thanks for putting this up so fast, but the link doesn't work for me for some reason :(
-
I am experiencing the same issues.
-
I thought it was only me.
-
It didn't like me in Firefox but works fine in Chrome.
I'll post a direct link if Bubba Amon Hotep has no objection.
-
My thanks.

I have no problems. I need to Do a Version 3 though. Used the cards at a game the other night and found a final TYPO i need to correct. If you have any suggestions about how to better share this I am all ears!
-
Huh, I hadn't noticed. I'll keep an eye on the thread and update the link after you post the new version.

Fantastic. I love these, and will use them for my games.
-
Very Nice! Will plan on using them. Great Job.
-
These do look amazing and are a great idea ... but ... "declaration" is misspelled "delaration."
I have just been using clear glass beads, but something with more "heft" would be nice. I also have a "karma" system in my game whereby a particularly douche-like action earns a "black stone" and advancing good causes earns a "white stone." I started this system before the players really understood how to even use the markers (and they are still largely clueless), but they became terrified of me bringing them a black stone very quickly ... which I found greatly amusing.
-
Hrm.... Sounds interesting. Think I'll start handing out additional markers too. Not to implement a karma system or anything, just to make them nervous.
-
One of the players is "in the Russian mob" ... and his typical M.O. is to shoot first and not bother with questions. After the first game, he had two black stones, and I said NOTHING about them. Someone else did something epic-nice and I gave them a white stone. Eyes widened, and then people started looking at the mobster. Every once in awhile, I would say, "That shot is a hit ... or you could miss to get rid of one of those black stones." That's as much hint as I have given them on how I run them. They have asked about using them like Fate points in certain situations. "Can I use this white stone to do _________?" and that is how they've learned the rest of what they "know." No one has accumulated more than two of them at once and no one has tried to used more than one of them at once. The folks who have collected black ones have not bothered to see what they can do, either - they have all sent me e-mails after the game on various "atonements" that they wanted to do to get rid of them.
It has been a hilarious meta-game addition -- at least for ME as the GM. :-)
I don't know if any of them read this board, so I want to keep the system secret, for now. But it's an easy concept to adapt in any way you see fit. I originally had a more "Jedi Knight" idea about it, but it has turned the party (even the mobster) into crusaders. On the plus side, it has made for good harmony within the party (which can sometimes be tricky), but I think it has made the world slightly less interesting because the players have started quickly labeling everything as "black and white." "Winter Court = Black." Well, no ... not really, they just have a different agenda. "US Government = Black." Wait, they did come in and clean up the airport you left smoking ... that doesn't mean ... "Red Court = Black." Okay, yes, yes, those are actually bad guys. So, I need to introduce some sort of "gray" stones, maybe ... I dunno ... "balance stones" or something.

These are a great idea, any chance someone has been able to fix the typo?

Been wondering that myself...
-
Thanks for the cards, im gonna printe them this week to play some dresden or spirit ;D
I hope the typo can be fixed though
-
Thank you Andinel for prodding me to get this fixed.
The typo has been corrected.
And is currently set up as a PDF to be printed on an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper.
You can either fold it in half after printing and glue the sheet to create 3 cards.
Or, print it front and back to generate 6 cards.

These are fantastic - going to use them, thank you for sharing! Also gonna print 'em on sticker paper and adhere them to junk Magic cards to give them more realistic card weight. :)
