But that begs the question; how far up, and how far down do circles go?
See this conversation.

An interesting idea, but it begs the question of just how circular a circle needs to be - on one hand, you have a perfectly uniform circle (which is probably impossible to make outside an equation); on the other, a nonuniform shape - picture a rope with the ends tied together and thrown into a random but non-overlapping shape. Now, how far from the former to the latter can you go without the circle failing?

Did that make any sense? ???

Here's a couple for Rapport:

"Modern living might suck. And the world we've made can be a dark place. But at least I don't have to be there alone.

I put an arm around Nick's shoulders, and grinned at him. "It's like I keep telling you, man. You've got to have faith."

-Restoration of Faith

"Oh," I said. I rubbed at my jaw. "You think I should have gone four-color?"

Bob stared at me for a second and said, "I have nightmares about hell, where all I do is add up numbers and try to have conversations with people like you."

-from "The Vignette"

And one for Deceit:

"I held on to a flash of bad temper. "The point," I told Bob, "is to have an advertisement that looks solid, professional and reliable."

"Yeah. Advertising is all about lying," Bob said.

"Hey!"

Oh! Oh! I've got a good one for Stealth:

"That's where the magic came in. If the potion worked, I would look like background to any casual observers, a part of the scenery they wouldn't glance at twice."

Survival: (FM 5) "The compass needle shuddered, spun wildly and then swung to the bloodstain on the dome like a hound picking up a scent."

Contacts: (FM 11) "The demon straightened its hideous form and said, in a perfect Oxford accent, "Quite. You understand, I must observe the formalities." Then it took a pair of wholly incongruous wire-frame spectacles from beneath a scale and perched them upon the beaklike extremity of its nose. "You have questions?"

Intimidation: (FM 30) "Uh. Hi guys." I said a bit lamely. "I"ve got your boss. Put the guns down, take your belts off, and walk away from them nice and slow, or I kill him."

Yep. Fool Moon is the one book I have near at hand.  ;)

Lore: "A stuffed animal, man!" I roared at him. "Don't mess with a wizard when he's wizarding!" - FM 184

Weapons: "I took out a few wizardly implements: my blasting rod, the replacement for my sheild bracelet, and one other thing that no wizard should be without. A Smith and Wesson .38 Chief's Special." - FM 37

EDIT: Thanks  :-[

I was just rereading Grave Peril (well, the online sample chapters, anyway), and came across the following quote from Michael:

Quote
"Regardless, you needed to realize that you do love the woman. After Elaine, I thought you might isolate yourself too much and never—"

Kinda sounds like he knew Harry all the way back when he was DuMorne's apprentice, or at least shortly afterwards. Thoughts?

Of course, Harry would have a cool, smart-ass remark about it, or a bad pun, but you get the point.

"Taste Excalibutter, jerk."

Personally, when I need a name - especially for a minor, background character - I like to pick one with a hidden (or else obvious) in-joke. For example, once when I needed a last name for a single-appearance police officer, I chose . . . Gordon. ;)
