Nothing in Boston until I leave, then....this.
*sigh*
I'm thinking my parents will not be thrilled if I announce I'm coming home.....to go to a book signing.
When they're visiting me not even a month prior.

Oh, well, I suppose I'm happy for all my Dresdenphilic friends still in the area....

The timing of the events, perhaps-- but I think it's fairly safe to say that Baby!Drakul did not begin his existence with a fully formed power base, but acquired it in the fifty or so years between his birth and the birth of his son.

Likewise, Baby!Tepes was not born a Blampire--Blampires are made, not born-- he decided to be turned, and did so, per Eb, in some sort of backlash to his father some years (on the order of one to a few decades, even) after his birth.  Given the approximate nature of the years you posted, I don't think the accuracy of the timeline would be damaged by notes on the timing of Drakul's rise to power and the turning of his son to the Black Court. The point is, neither event is immediate to their respective births.

I know I'm nitpicking, but 1393 and 1436 are years, not dates.  Especially considering the uncertainty of the exact timing of these events, may I suggest changing these entries (or at least their first sentences) to something like:

'The (approximate) year in which mortal history says Vlad Drakul was born.'
and
'The (approximate) year in which mortal history says Vlad Tepes, a.k.a Dracula, son of Vlad Drakul, was born.'

A further note on the timing here: we have to assume some number of years (between Drakul's birth and his rise to power (and hence, his employment of Kincaid).  The birth of Vlad Tepes(h)/Dracula, however, is a pretty definite time by which Drakul had consolidated power, if Vlad-the-younger went to the Black Court as a way to rebel against his father.  (We can also assume that Tepes was fairly young when he did so, if his turning is referred to as a 'teenage rebellion thing'--though I don't think we can necessarily interpret 'teenage' literally.)

Other than a vague notion of sometime between Dead Bead and White Night, no.
(There's nothing to indicate that it didn't happen before Proven Guilty, but if I had to guess, I'd say that the lack of commentary on it in PG-- especially in light of the Rampire ambush on a warden training camp-- means that it happened somewhere between PG and WN.  And, what with the mentions of heat, it happened in the summer-- north of Albuquerque simply isn't all that warm in the winter months.)

The fact that Summer's fire effected the Scarecrow at all means it did not have Outsider stuff, because only Mortal magic effects the Outsiders

We know that only mortal magic can summon them into the (mortal) world, anyway.  Could you tell me which book (WN?) I should look in for the passage about mortal magic?

The last 'true' ice age (ended 20 thousand years ago) was long enough ago that I don't think we had 'recorded' history.  Perhaps some oral remnants remain, but I'm fairly certain humanity was pre-writing at that point, pictographs notwithstanding. Now, the so-called "Little Ice Age" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Ice_Age) may indicate a sudden spike in Winter's power.  The temperature change was most pronounced in Europe, which is consistent with the (probable) location of most of the Sidhe dealings with mortals at that time.

How is it that the dapper Mr Morden is the ONLY person to suggest the Twin Cities, Mn? I mean, it's a straight shot up I-35 for Mr. Butcher, and 2/3 of the flipping state live in the area! Visit one city and take care of a whole region? No brainer! We love you up here, my man!

I wholeheartedly support this.
Just....with my luck, he visits during something I can't duck. Like my thesis proposal defense. (Hey, it could happen. I'm supposed to this summer.)

....

I think Tolkien being important in-universe is unlikely, since the previous Summer Knight's name, Ronald, Reuel, was a shout out to Tolkien.  As for Sanya, I just put that down to vague heavenly interference- was there something unusual about his showing up?

...

I didn't mean that Tolkien was pointed at a target, but that he was semi-clued and wrote what he knew. Y'know, grumpy wizards using staffs, the existence of something called the White Council.  Nothing of particular significance to DV continuity.

As for Sanya, I find it interesting that he showed up right when Harry was going to need him. And the Knights can't respond to every kidnapping. Or even every kidnapping by the Rampires-- so why did Sanya respond to this one (and respond by going to Chicago, and not to Maggie?  How did he know that this particular kidnapped child had a parent there?)  If it's Heavenly meddling, why are they using Sanya to meddle?

Was Tolkien 'inspired' like Stoker and Lovecraft?

How is it that Sanya just happened to be in town in Changes?  Nothing particularly dark or Hellish occurred onscreen...

Hmm, now there's a possibility-- the RC simply stepped in when the post was left vacant, either momentarily or completely abandoned.

I'm not so sure that any of the old gods ever left, though, just went into dormancy/hiding/powersave mode during the (fairly global) rise of the Abrahamic religions.  Why they're coming to Chicago of all places, though....I mean, why would Greek minor deities and/or mythical figures up and travel several thousand miles away from their old seats of power (Greece and environs)?

How did the RC gain the upper hand and usurp the positions of the (original) Mayan pantheon?

Presumably, they've only become more powerful with time and the power they stole, and...they're still somewhat afraid of what the original Mayan deities could/would do to them if they ever came back.  So how in the world did they manage to take over in the first place?!

Someone needs to buy cass a round or 23.

Sheesh.  That's one epic transcripting job there.

...If you bought me 23, I'm not sure I'd ever sober up enough to transcribe anything else!

Dina-- no problem.  I have quite a bit of trouble understanding sometimes, too, and there's no excuse: I can only speak English!

According to the Q&A session at MarsCon, they did. Really and truly. Not that it means anything's in the works-- just that it's now more possible.
