Community Cork Board / Expired Coupons for Overseas Military, or ECOM
« on: December 13, 2012, 08:28:05 PM »
Hey everyone! I thought that all of you would be interested in something I found out.

I recently learned of a program called ECOM, or Expired Coupons for Overseas Military families. I do not know if any of you have heard of it, but I knew many of you might be interested and could possibly help. I am in the process of "adopting" a family to send coupons to. Families can use manufacturers coupons for up to 6 months after they expire! This means ones I would throw out or ones I would never use could possibly get some great use by helping a family who has moved overseas and could use the financial help WHILE they serve our country.

I think this is an awesome idea. They have a FB page that you can get more information from and "adopt" your own family if you want. If you aren't up to getting a family and have coupons I would LOVE for you to send them to me. My goal is to get some others to help me help a family and maybe even a HUGE box for a whole base.

Many of you have been in the military, have family in the military, or know someone serving our country. I've always wondered what I could do to show my thanks. I think that this will be a great treat and help for those who are far from the creature comforts of home.

Let me know if you can help me stock pile some coupons! PM if you want my address to send me some!!

Love and joy to you!~Berrylovely

Hey even Olivia Newton-John did a book signing here this past weekend! though she actually didn't have that many people come for it. Still ended up being a cool event for my hubby! :D

Honey is now the proud owner of a chiller for his beer making talents.

Also I had a lovely Cream Ale on Thanksgiving that I absolutley LOVED. No bitter after taste bite.

Our vet is wonderful. He explains things every time we ask, and sometimes when we don't! We have been seeing him since I got my kitty, Puss, at age 11. I'm now 34. :) There is noone we trust more. They have helped us with strays, getting them spayed or neutered at reduced/no cost, or if need be helping them ease into the Sunny Afterlife. They have been there for EVERYONE of our pets deaths and they make donations to Purdue's Vet School in memory of every pet we have lost. There is noone I would rather go to. I will be very sad when he retires, as there is noone else to take over his practice.

k9-you sound just like our vet! :)

My fiance makes beer. He made this chocolate one that EVERYONE loves. I liked his red ale that he made. He wants to make another batch, but we need to get rid of the chocolate ones first! He also caps with real bottle caps!

And tonight...I am having beer for dinner. Probably the American Bada** made in Michigan by Kid Rock. Which is VERY tasty. He has a bourbon out now too I think.

I'm with Seriphina...please come to Indy! I would bring my mom and various others!

Indianapolis is an awesome place! Lots of places, including Chicago and Cincinnati and Dayton are within driving distance. St. Louis is within driving distance as well. I would help find place to eat for all interested. There is a TON of stuff to do here. NONE of my fav authors have ever come to Indy for signings. And based on the amount of people always in the Sci-fi areas at local bookstores there is definitely a following. Oh, please come to Indianapolis in the Spring time!

If not Indy then Dayton would be awesome cause I could go see a friend who I've been to book signings with before. She likes JB as well. Seeing her gives me excuse to shop and go out to eat! ;)

Author Craft / Re: Can't come up with a decent villain
« on: April 22, 2010, 07:40:03 AM »
Why not a pair of villains? Siblings, spouse, SO's, parent & child, etc or a relative of your hero???

And why do they have to be a "villain"? Say more of a person who is doing things for the greater good, but the reasoning is not what your main character (hero) thinks is right? Things are not always good vs bad, sometimes good vs good can occur as well. Should this be the route you take it might be easier to weave this character(s) into the story line of any one story. There could be references to them, even when they themselves are not apparently there.
