The Ghost Story Book Club seemed to go over well, so here's Cold Days' equivalent!
Welcome to the Cold Days Book Club! This is intended to allow us to theorize and discuss as we read through Cold Days. Discuss whats happened and how amazing it is. Discuss what you think is happening in the current set of chapters. Or even theorize about what may be about to happen.
The rules are simple...
You can discuss anything you want about Cold Days, so long as it does not exceed the chapter limit set for this particular thread.
Chapter Limit -- Do NOT discuss anything after chapter: 15

They're in their own sub-forum, I don't think they'll get lost that easily.

H-O-L-Y crap! Chapter 5... [SNIP]
Allow me to clarify: NO SPOILERS OF ANY KIND other than what's in chapters 1-4 and Jim's interviews/hints until NOON EST on the 27th. Just a few hours to go!
-
Pris, can I please put a line from CD in my signature??? Its not even that spoilery, just hilarious.
Also 1 hour woot!
-

Wow, I knew about the order from Mab but I did not expect that target.

Remember, your signature can be seen EVERYWHERE on the forum, not just the Spoilers sections. When noon rolls around, post the line here (or whichever book club section is applicable), and we'll let you know if it's kosher.

Will do
Is it time yet?
Edit shows me that it is, so I have just one thing to say.

Santa, your a f****ing badass!

Neurovore will be pleased.

For me it's more like Go Andi! Butters is a remarkable guy, any woman would be pleased to...er...'have' him.

SANTA!!!!!
I got snipped for earliness *is sad, wanted to be the first to talk about Santa* Damn you TUTT!! Lolz :P
-
Yaaay Santa !
I just keep thinking about Jim being asked about him so many times, while he knew Kringle would be in Cold Days... and keeping from laughing.
-
Where the heck does JB find all the cool info/legend/mythology regarding the fae? Specifically regarding Cat Sith, fetches and the Fae courts?
-
Man I laughed so freaking hard at the whole party scene. Gruff, Santa...especially his line about drawing the line at Halloween.
And man, Toot got badass. Glad to see Bob is alright, and Molly's pulling herself together. I'm guessing the bit with the svartalves is what Bombshells is gonna be about?
Though I was sad about the "Lily's going to be another Aurora" bit. I liked Lily. Here's hoping Bob's information is off and she's gonna retain some of her self.

All I can say is it's about freaking time! Ever since I realized fire was going to be Harry's on going schtick, I have been waiting for that particular Prachett reference to show up, and now it has.
In other news, Santa is a badass, pixies are officially the new number one on my list of most terrifying fae, and the conflict with Red Cap was one of the best written fight scenes in the series as far as I'm concerned. This book already rocks, and I've barely scratched the surface.
-
I told you people, I told you the pixies were freaking terrifying if applied properly, but did anybody listen? No....
*continues mumbling rant*
-
Keep reading.
Nah, I figured I'd just put the book down and stop right where I am.
Of course I'm gonna keep reading :P
-
Chapter 5 was probably one of my favorite chapters in the series ever. Seeing Eldest Gruff, the Erlking and everyone at the party was freaking awesome.
I have only one thing to say: SANTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To any of the mods, can I get a verdict on this quote to go in my signature
"Build a man a fire and he's warm for a day. But set a man on fire, and he's warm for the rest of his life"
-
That's a direct quote from a Pratchett book. So I'd say you're fine.
And it spoils NOTHING.
But I am not a mod. I'm just telling you what the quote is.
-
Yeah, I recognized it from Prachett, but since it's in the book, I figured I'd err on the side of caution and get an official ruling before I did it.

Had to put the book down and then roll around laughing when I read that
-
I had that one as my signature six months ago, actually. I was referencing Pratchett at the time. I think you'd be fine.
-
My sister turned me on to Dresden Files & we drive the rest of our family crazy quoting it. I got CD ON the 27th but she hadn't, yet. I almost popped an aneurism trying to NOT text her spoliers.
-
Listening to the wonderful Mister Marsters and realized how just plain squicky ??? :o Maeve is.
-
Greetings
I'm slowly reading through CD but rationing myself to a few chapters a day. I've now read this section of the Book Club because I've just got beyond Ch 15.
I've started noting the main scenes in each chapter and which characters appear in which chapters as an aide memoire.
Lots of good stuff. Harry's not short on occasions where he is taken by surprise so far ...
Regards
Edward
-
Yeah, him being taken by surprise seems to be a running gag/theme

The mods approve! Pratchett is Pratchett. :D
-
Thanks. Figured as much, but since it was in the book, just wanted to err on the side of caution.
