Somebody straighten me out, pretty please? I thought GS isn't out until the end of July? Has the date changed, or will attendees get to buy early? I haven't been around much and I'm lost! I do have to travel to Chicago on business next week, and I'll totally detour to Naperville if I can get my hands on a copy of the book...
I just got my book and tic...#104!!!! I'll be wearing my Geek The Library shirt and taking a million pics, so feel free to stop and chat!!
Two behind you MX - #116. ;DWe can pass notes!!! We'll have to enlist the aid of our in-betweener. Just hope we don't get caught...
wait the book hasnt come out yetTrue, but if you preorder, as Lany79 helpfully noted earlier (Thank you Lany!!!), they give you a ticket number. I did mine over the phone and the lady, Amanda was her name, was very helpful.

I'm actually going to head up there sometime next week. I want to scout the area again. I always have enjoyed the Riverwalk when I went, but I haven't been up to that general area yet this summer. I'm going specifically to hunt for the best parking spots. It can get really busy in the summer time. Mind you, the sights, both the 'Walk and the people, can keep you occupied.
The Anderson shop is actually located the next block over from the River Walk area. Lots of places to sit, eat, shop, hang out and such. A fun way to spend a day.
What exactly is/are rush hour(s) in Naperville?I would say any time after 2PM. Although, with it being summer time, school out and nice weather, even if hot, I expect the walk area to be busy, even for midweek. Also, considering 7PM still sees the sun in the sky, I expect plenty of folks enjoying the evening.
I'm more worried about timing when to leave for my interview this week. :D It's at 3pm.

I have a question....is Naperville a big city...I get really nervous when driving in big cities :D and haven't done it often, I mean I get nervous driving in Madison (WI), how many people are in Naperville?
I believe I have to wait until Chiro gets off work, I think. I'm free all day, but I think that'll be around 4 or 330 in the afternoon arriving in Dundee, so we may not get there until around 430? is it an hour from Dundee?
I'm thinking the same thing...wow I hope I didn't lose my number, I thought I had it on the counter, now I don't remember.
crap what about numbers and preoder i thought we jsut showed up dang it
MX, does the order we get things signed..oh wait..no in order to get a place to sit for the Q&A we have to be there way early don't we...shoot...with Chiro working not sure how early we can get there, that'll be a problem. Do they still let people be there even without a chair, for the Q&A though?
Alright I finally pre-ordered my book I was waiting to see if I could get someone to work my shift for me so now I am number 149 in line looking forward to a great day.
I'll be going in to the store on Tueday morning to pick up my copy of the book (what can I say, I can't wait to read it).
Well, Chiro, guess it's you and me and amaretto gelato, or possibly the pizzeria, we'll figure that out once we get down there, how's that? :D If anyone else wants to join us, they can let us know here, or in a message, they have a few days yet, but we'd love to get together with others if they'd like to meet us somewhere for supper/dinner.
Naperville Long-Term ParkingThank you SO much for the info...spent waaay too much time at work today Googling the area for parking info.
After 9 a.m. all-day parking is available in the following locations:
Central Parking Facility: Level 3
Van Buren Parking Deck: Level 2 – Roof Level
Municipal Center Parking Deck: Weekdays (after 5 p.m.) and Saturday, Lower Level and Upper Level
So, it sounds as if the Central and Van Buren lots are safe to park in for an extended time period, on the upper levels, in case someone wants a place to park without worrying about the 2-3 hour limit.
Sorry, no :( It's not going to be like the signing for TC. To have a book signed, you have to order from Andersons. When you buy the book, they give you a number. They line up folks according to those numbers for signatures. If you would, take a look at on page 2 of this thread. Emgirl, Lany, Chiro, Alilisa and myself have all pre-ordered and received numbers.
Actually, I am glad it won't be like that last signing in this area. Lots of people arrived very early that day to check into the store and several of the staff I talked to said you could just show up. Well, it turns out they were giving out wrist bands showing your order of arrival. Some people had been there, like me, for hours but ended up being closer to the end for signatures because of the lack of information on the bookstore's part. I would think they were unprepared excepting the fact that they had plenty of books for all. That just tells me whoever was in charge didn't manage things correctly.
oohhhh...I should bring my video cam....but it's well, not that big...wonder if I have any extra video tapes...probably not, my son uses them all for train videos. Crud, besides with taking pics, I probably wouldn't be able to do that too. ;D
MX what if we brought the pizza to the store, would you want some?
nooooo heat is a bad word...esp with what I'm wearing :D and that sounds like a great idea, MX.
*smacks GW, laughing*
I am SO looking forward to tomorrow! Are we there yet? Are we there yet?! ;D
You bringing enough to share with everyone, MX
*gives you the evil eye when you mention the steakhouse*
Oh trust me, you won't miss Chiro and I, especially with me being with Chiro, she'll be the one hiding behind the umbrella..that's really why she's bringing it. ;D
*snickers*
Does Chiro have your phone # to get ahold of you or will you just be sprawled out in the middle of the floor holding your cell up over your head with the book held high so we recognize you, and a steak in your other hand? *grins*
The pizzeria has Italian beef sandwiches I think. :)
I'll be in the back of the store playing with the toys.
Hey...now that sounds like a much better idea to me..why didn't I think of that one! ;D
The Ms. and I will be dressed as Ms. Gard and Butters respectively.
Wow, glad I pre-ordered when did. I thought 85 might take awhile, I'd hate to be back at 300.
Ali! I am so glad I met you in picture. :D You seem so nice as I imagined you. And I am very happy (and envious :P) for "the gang" having a great, great time.
And your costume is awesome! I hope you had fun doing it! You totally rocks!
Did your Recording, the voice recording, come out, MX? Believe it or not (remember me telling you how I'd lost the one recorder and bought another, then when we arrived down there the first one was in the basket? It happened again, I can't find the one with the recording on it!!!)
I'm glad we left when we did, I hit a horrible storm on the way back and ended up driving 30 or so mph down I-90 on the way back for quite a distance.
The Ms. and I will be dressed as Ms. Gard and Butters respectively. We plan on getting there some time between 5:30 and 6 (depending on traffic, Google maps has us getting there at 5) so dinner sounds good. I just discovered Jim last year so this is my first signing. ;DYou guys were awesome!! Loved the conversation and the costumes! How great was JB, right?! I'm going to try to get the pics up tonight.
Hey, i remember him saying something like "the one with the crew cut" :) I can't wait to see the pics.
I was too, I'm the one who asked about whether or not he used fans ideas and mentioned the place on the forums where the ideas are at. :D yep, that was me!! Told you I'd be dressed up!! ;D
You should have come up and said something, I was looking forward to meeting you, we all were!
The shirt had a blood splatter design, that's what I meant. :)
Yes, that was a ton of fun last night. And I still have fruit left over from Lou Malnati's.
(D'oh, I'm making a goofy face in the picture).
(Very glad you got home, ok, Alilisa. I was thinking about you when that storm hit).
Emgirl and MathGeek, we looked for you guys too, and had no clue. I only saw one Butters, in a blue scrubs, was that you? he's in one of the pics, look close by the post, is that you??? (See, to the left of the post, the guy in the blue scrubs?)(http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o294/GorLife/TheGang2.jpg)
Aww, would have loved to talk to you, GW!! Or did I scare you *snickers, then hugs*
Or in Chicagoland period, I hope.I really liked the town of Naperville. I spent the day there. It was cozy.
