Jim has referred to magic as "the power of creation". Killing with it apparently violates that essential nature of magic.

The only thing I would outright suggest barring is mental damage evocation attacks. It is a matter of some debate here whether or not spirit would let you do it. I tend to think it is probably legal by the book, but it gets stupid really quickly.

A new wizard can one shot kill the vast majority of bad guys with it. (If you are already concerned about the strength of normal evocation, this is that only it bypasses all the toughness powers. Unless of course all the baddies start inexplicably showing up with inhuman stoicism, etc.)

Woj from 2011 bitten by books q and a

Does Kincaid have the ability to “choose” like Faerie changelings (i.e Meryl/Fix/Lily)?”
All scions do, though if they never twig to the fact that they ARE a scion, it’s their actions that make the Choice for them. Kincaid made his Choice a long, long time ago.

The old Woj about Kincaid made it clear that scions do have a Choice.

The new Woj (from the KC q and a iirc) would at least seem to raise the distinct possibility of fae characters being playable and still not venturing outside of cannon (if that concerns your group).

Not if the purpose of the list is a handy brainstorming tool for flavoring casters.

Has anyone compiled a list of these?

I vaguely recall seeing one a while back, but the search function has defeated me.

That is awesome Sancta. A Tip of the Hat from the author  has to put a smile on your face. :)

Planning is nice, but there are easy options here when something unexpected crops up.
Check out the generic npc's thread on the resource board here if you need npc stats on the fly.
Sanctaphrax and many others have made a very helpful list.

I would only do it in times of heavy magic use or intense emotions. They don't seem to have the juice for the truly random effect.

It seems like a waste of time to argue the meaning of "completely" when you would both resolve the damage in a conflict involving a weapon 2 vs armor 2 attack the same way.

(Unless I am mistaken and lavecki would indeed just say "you rolled a 10 to hit and he dodged on a 3. Unfortunately his armor 2 makes your attack with a pistol completely pointless. No stress taken")

I just tried to check it out on an iPhone and it me to get bent.
"The mobile edition module is not available with this account."

Does this refer to your site as the acct without mobile support or just mean I need to create an acct to check it out?

In my experience those who went to the extreme in either direction were the obnoxious ones to deal with.

I have played with "Min/Maxers" who only cared about the numbers who might as well have been nameless npc's outside of their area of expertise.

I have also played with "RPers" who drew up interesting, but largely useless characters. By that I mean characters who had no real connection to the group, who obviously weren't going to be interested in the activities in the type of game we were going to play. Regardless of ridiculous in their scope efforts being made by players and the gm, insid and outside of the game.

In my experience the best players are those who blend form and function.

DFRPG / Re: Pure Mortal with Items of Power
« on: March 22, 2013, 04:12:00 PM »
He can have a iop and still be a considered a "pure mortal" by himself and the in game creatures. What he can't do is have an iop and get the +2  mortal bonus.

The pm bonus primary function is to provide some game balance to mortals since powers are stronger than stunts. If he buys a power then he no longer needs the extra oomph to compete with the others. (Especially considering that the iop rebate will make the power even cheaper).

Story wise= pure mortal; system wise= supernatural
