So Bob, whose loyalty is based on who is in possession of the skull knows the password to the prison on Demonreach. Does that not seem like it is just asking for trouble? Or is there something I am missing?
-
Where are you getting that?
-
I believe Bob is in the bag and can't see Demonreach when he activates the portal or door if you will. But it isn't clear. Bob talks to Harry on the way down and then he doesn't speak again until he directs Harry's attention to Skin Walker in a cell. So yes Bob may have the key. It may be that only Demonreach or the Warden can use it. \shrug/

I think that the key part is that Harry effectively swore Bob to secrecy before he ever let him start looking around.
Of course, I’m not sure how effective that is.

Pretty effective I believe, plus Alfred scared the living crap out of Bob.

I'd have to re-read; I just don't remember clearly enough to have a firm opinion as to whether Bob does or doesn't know...

I don't think Bob would be very eager to go back to the island. Without the Warden accompanying/avouching him... completely unwilling (modulo the "have to obey the owner of the skull" bargain).
That doesn't mean Bob might not divulge the info to someone other than Harry, if he were in said "someone's" possession...
But I don't think that simply "having the password" is sufficient to bypass Alfred's active defenses, it just "lowers the drawbridge" in some passive ones.

I don't think he can, at least not easily because I got the impression that Harry ordered him to
forget it. Harry even said he didn't want a repeat of "Evil Bob" coming out and divulging the password. Unless he was lying, Bob said that wasn't likely to happen again.

I don't think it was "likely" to happen in the first place, either!
However, wizards are really good at getting "unlikely" things to happen...

I can think of a couple of ways Bob could have complied with Harry's orders. The first is that it was some kind of bargain. See Backup. The second is if Bob destroyed his memory of it.

I got the impression that Bob did the latter.
