DFRPG / Re: Fixing Recovery powers.

Storm Front: IIRC, Listening was introduced here, though I;m not sure how.
Summer Knight: When he speaks to Rashid in the theatre where the Council assembled
Turn Coat: When he eavesdrops on the Merlin and Listens-to-Wind
Cold Days: As stated above.
Skin Game: Apparently he used it again here.

That's all I can remember for now.

DFRPG / Re: Advice on a new vampire court

I just had a fun thought and would like to throw my own spin on the concept. I created a small Ethiopian Court called the Amber Court  for my first game (sorry Locnil, it was a color court. I was young and needed the money).

It's all right. We've all been there.  ;D

Interesting take. For one, I like that you didn't go the [Colour] Court route.  :P I can'r offer much commentary on the powers (except that I don't really like low-level supernaturals other than wizards getting access to the Sight, since I feel that it cheapens it. But hey, your rules). However, you might like to include suggestions for future powers for players of the template, as well as an idea of how they interact with other supernaturals.

Ars magica hands down best magical system ever made to portray wizards

Agree.  :D For a certain definition of wizards, anyway. If only it had more players...

Eh, I dunno. In the edition I've played (4th), there were major disparities in power between different spells and focus types.

I'm told that possession-based summoning was crazy broken too, but I've never actually played with it.
Granted, I was just making fun of the fact that many here seem to like it, but...

That was a problem, yes - spells all cost the same, and things like Fashion (cleans your clothes) and Healthy Glow (makes you look healthy) were listed alongside Heal (actually makes you healthy) and Alter Memory (exactly what it says). However, foci really weren't a big deal; though.

And much of the hype about possession was just knee-jerk complaints about munchkinery. Possession mages had some nice advantages, which were balanced out by hefty disadvantages, especially at the higher end of the scale, where Materialization spirits (the default) beat out their possession counterparts, due to not having capped Attributes and not needing convenient targets.

Btw, if you really want to focus on the "store magic for later use" thing, you can also make it an IoP giving the custom stunt Deep Reserves, giving you two mental consequences for the purpose of taking spellcasting stress. Or, a custom power giving you extra mental stress boxes, if your GM allows that. Or, if the whole "cannot cast spells unless on earth" is treated as a rebate power, the Refresh can be used to buy it off, with running out of magic being treated a a compel.

I wouldn't use True Shapeshifting for the four forms, since TS lets you transform into whatever you want. I'd handle it as a [-2]Variable Abilities surcharge (as per the DFRPG wiki) giving access to four powersets, each including a different type of Beast Change and maybe Wings or Aquatic or some other appropriate Creature Feature.

Soulcatcher: You could handle it as per the Undying power on the DFRPG wiki. Combine with a healing spell or a Recovery power.

Not sure where the vampire charm is from, but it could be a straightforward attack item. Maybe a compel where it could be useful but there are no vampires. Or, with a permissive GM, a ruling that the charm could satisfy the Catch of vampires in exchange for being only usable on vampires.

The real problem is the iron charm. There's a thread recently about Immunity to Magic and its problems; I'll suggest looking it up. Belial666 offered an interesting (but expensive) way to model the immunity part IIRC. Also, the whole "some kinds of magic are not defended against" is perfect for a compel. The cold iron aura I'd handle as per Holy Touch, but for cold iron instead of holy. Burning or destroying faeries would be treated as a Fists attack or a invocation of his High Concept, depending on the situation.

As for the rest, looks good. ;D

I am curious about Atticus's necklace and the charms on it.(how to stat it in the Dresden files RPG) Are the charms enchanted items, focus items, a bit of both or something else. Like the Bear Charm which acts as general magic storage, for whenever Atticus needs magic, but is not directly connected to the earth. How would that work in a DFRPG. And the Faerie Specs Charm which provides him the ability to see the magical realm, such as enchantments and auras. Would the Charm simply grant The Sight or help protect the user from the ill effects of The Sight. I ask because Atticus rarely suffers any of the ill effects The Sight has. Where Harry all most seems afraid to use The Sight.
So Please tell me what you all think.

I personally peg the bear charm similar to Harry's own bear belt - it maneuvers Aspects on you, which you can then tag for effect - letting you buy off a compel preventing you from using magic because you're not on earth, for example (depends on how exactly it's statted up).

I'll base the faerie specs it on Rashid's faerie ointment (and Harry's later version), since it's quite similar.

DFRPG Resource Collection / Re: Sponsored Magic Master List

I don't think it would be out of line for it to provide Cloak of Shadows and maybe lower the toughness of light or fire based baddies.

I do. Compare to (UN)seelie magic, or other sponsored magics.  The extra benefit in this case would be much better than theirs.

4 or 5 times in the books total?!? I haven't counted, but I get the impression of it occurring in something like two thirds of the books...

Yup. I suppose I might have missed one or two where he didn't explicitly state he was Listening but was using it, but basically he seldom uses that power - there are many books where it just doesn't come up. And when it does he just uses it for a not particularly important situation then it's never brought up again for the rest of the book.

Yeah, I suspected as much. Not that I pay much attention to their supposed meaning, though, so I suppose it's as good as making them up.

I just outright invent words. Sometimes I steal them from other fantasy series, like the power words from the Kate Daniels series. I haven't gotten round to Skyrim shouts yet, but well, you know.

Another year to go, then. Man, the DFRPG has a really bad track record with development times, doesn't it?

Speaking of Paranet Papers, what was the last word on the release date?
