Ugh! The one year I wasn't planning on going to Gen-Con.
-
:-( No love for the south this time around at all. It feel like Jim Butcher has a pretty big fan base in the north carolina area, at least in the Raleigh Durham area, it would be nice to have him out here for one of these tours.
-
So stoked. I actually have a chance to meet Jim. And my wife is geekying out even more than I am :)
-
I am so darn excited! I am coming all the way from the East coast to GenCon for the first time this year!
I also tried to sign up for the Dresden files RPG but it filled up immediately, :( there were only 2 sessions of it! Have Jim demand more sessions!!!!!!!!

You might be able to show up with a generic ticket and step in if there are any no shows. I might just hang around and watch some of it.
-
My husband just said "I never thought the day would come that YOU would be the one saying 'Lets go to GenCon!'"
-
Happy to see this finally working out!
Any word on signings (time/location) or should we be attempting to get this done after the Seminars he's involved in?
-
Woohoo, got my airline tickets!
-
Considering driving down for this. Can take a long weekend and go visit my niece and nephews maybe in the process
-
My Lady and I will be at Gen Con all weekend. I hope to be able to meet as many of my fellow Forumites as I can while there. :)
We are going to be cosplaying as Harry, Molly, Murphy, and Michael with a couple friends of ours on Saturday. Could not get tickets to the Q&A, but we will likely be easy to spot nonetheless.
Does anyone want to plan to meet up while at Gen Con? We could try to do dinner one night together. :D
-
I am going to Gen Con too. Look for a guy in a Splatter-Con teeshirt and grey cloak pretending to be a Warden. I would be delighted to meet up with you and your lady, Sir Crash.
I would be delighted to meet up with you too, Priscillie. I've been wanting to meet you for a long time no.
And if BerryLovely sees this, I'd love to meet up with her as well, and meet her family.

I will keep an eye out for you PD. :-)

And Priscillie, I will watch for you as well. If, for nothing else, to thank you for everything that you do for us. :D

^^
This. Without doubt.
Is anyone else coming in costume? If so, or not, how do we recognise one another?
-
I will post pictures here of my girlfriend and myself in our Harry and Molly cosplays. That way y'all know who to look for. :)
I will only be Harry on Saturday. I will be dressed as a pirate version of Deadpool on Thursday and Friday. Hard to miss. ;)
-
A.... pirate.... version... of... Deadpool...?
*brain implodes*
Which thread will it be, or this one?
-

Yup! I call him Dreadpool. ;)
I will post pictures here so folks know who to run away from. ;D
-
That is brilliant. Deranged. But brilliant. I'll have no problem finding you then.
Will your lady be a pirate lady?

Brilliantly deranged is what I do best! ;)
Yup! For at least one day she will be Pirate Lady Deadpool

This is my first year going to GenCon and when I found out my Father's favorite author is going to be there I got really excited. But I don't know how events such as this happen. How does Jim Butcher do his signings? Would I be able to bring a book for him to sign? If anyone has any answers I thank you in advance and I hope everyone has a great GenCon weekend.

Absolutely! Bring whatever you want from home, or buy something at the con--whatever makes you happy! Time constraints usually force Jim to restrict folks to three items per trip through the line.
-
I take it you'll be at Gen-Con, too, Priscillie? If so, how will I recognise you?

I'll be cunningly disguised as a tall, curly-haired geek with snarky t-shirts.
-
*nods thoughtfully* Yes, you will blend in very well.
I'll be present as well, as always.
-
Oh. Okay.
-
Larry Correia will be there as well. Be able to see both with one trip. Definitely excellent
-
This is how you will see me on Saturday at Gen Con :)

Plus pictures of my work on the Wizard Staff and Shield Bracelet in other Albums in "I Made an Art"

Started a thread in the Jim himself board about GenCon and trying to arrange a meet up. Pop in there and let's see if we can get something figured out. Should I put one in the bar as well?
-
That'll be you on Saturday? All the more reason for me to wear my grey cloak then.

Yup, that'll be me. And my Lady will be dressed as Molly :)
-
Cool.
Although, judging by her picture, I think Priscillie would make a good Molly.

Uh... Lol.... well, now that you mention it:

But my Lady is a pretty damn awesome Molly. :)
-
See, I told you! ;D
And as for your good lady, I guess I'm going to find out.
Where would be the best place to meet up so we don't miss one another?
-
What days will you be there?
Anyone else wish to meet up with PD, my Lady, and I?
-
Sounds fun. I should be able to go all four days
-
What about Saturday evening? We could meet in the event hall by the Mayfair games area entrance.
-
Sounds good to me.
I'll be there Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I have to leave Sunday afternoon.
-
Really hoping to get the Friday off that weekend. All the spots were taken at work so may have to beg. Car has made the trip b4 though, so I know I can get there lol.
Edited: I really need to look into times for all the happenings too. Would suck being there too late for that one Q/A, or whatever :(

I will definitely stop over at the Mayfair booth. :)
-
I'll be there all 4 days. I just bought new copies of Skin Game and Turn Coat to have Jim sign. I want to be able to lend out my current copies as per my normal practice, and I felt that if I got them signed, I wouldn't let them out of my sight :)

Thanks Sir Crash, but it looks like things won't work out on my end. Work has gone to Plaid and they are anticipating Saturday this week :( Timing sucks, but that's the way it goes sometimes.
-
Gone to Plaid, huh? That's a new one on mew, I gotta say... :)
-
For those of you who can't make into the Q&A there is a way you might be able to ask Jim a question. Jim retweeted this Tuesday:
Oomba @Oomba
Ask questions LIVE at @Gen_Con! Tweet questions to @Oomba during the event. Full schedule of interviews at http://gencon.com !
Just Google longshotauthor to find Jim's tweets.
-
I can't say that I've ever got a book autograph at a con before... does anyone know if Jim's charging anything per autograph and if so how much? My financial situation took a turn for the worse recently and I need to know if I need to try shuffling funds around a bit.
-
I am sorry nobody answered you before. I don't think autographs are charged.
-
Just out of curiosity, did any of you get to see Jim at the Q&A or meet him at a signing?
-
I did both, I was at the 11 a.m. signing and the Q&A yesterday.
-
Confirming (albeit belatedly) that Jim never charges for signings. Occasionally, bookstores on his signing tour will require that copies of newly released books be purchased there, but for cons, nada.
-
Where might I buy/price tickets to said event?
Irk, there wasn't a year in the title, I see...
-
Yeah, this was 2014. Sorry!
