DF Spoilers / Re: Are the Old Ones also locked out?
« on: June 21, 2018, 05:54:13 PM »
So how then does that Oblivion War actually benefit their efforts to get back in, or wake them?  If they are affected by threat of Oblivion* then it would be a thing actively working to prevent their return, not facilitate it.
exactly though, I think the only thing that can truly prevent their return is total Oblivion. The Oblivion war was more or less orchestrated by the Original Merlin if he's responsible for the Archive and therefore her venators. The war was started by us.

*The other possibility being that the Oblivion War only targets creatures native to the NeverNever who still have to play by the rules, but not true Outsiders that seem equally willing to just smash there way in as to be Known/Invited by the inside residents.
Not sure why that would be? An you notice, all Outsiders are getting in specifically by invitation via mortal, even if that's a subconscious invitation to slowly replace them. They aren't smashing anything at this point btw, willing though they may be, they so far just can't. Cosmic Law mayhaps...

And I wasn't the first to subscribe to the idea of some sort of intellectual amongst past, present, future Mabs.  Ms. Duck argued similarly at some point too.
Isn't it obvious? Mab has her own form of intellectus that tells her things about her past and future, same mechanism by which she knows the chess board set up vs Titania and when it's whose turn to balance whom, though battleship might be more accurate lol. They know a move is made, not always what move.
*i'd think anything within her domain... but really, intellectus should be broken down into more terms... look at toot toot, he knows german but isn't 'intellectused' that we know... but he does have that 'I just know this thing' quality in places...

DF Spoilers / Re: Black Cat Investigator

Colin Murphy was a Black Cat Investigator.  Does anyone think the name has a specific meaning, or is it just a play on words (Black cat, bad luck kinda thing)?
Well, Cat's DO straddle the the inbetween capable of interacting with magic circles without disrupting it directly. Figure it's something in that aspect combined with the general belief behind the Black Cat.

Where do you get that part?  By all accounts it's either uninvolved with the Outsider side of things or else would be doing the exact opposite.
Now, I've never thought it was entirely uninvolved... I see it as these Old Gods who are slowly being phased out of reality attempting to find new purchase here under a new identity. They are dead but as long as they are not forgotten entirely they can attempt a breach under new identity and power, same Old consciousness though.

DF Spoilers / Re: The 5 gods of Lovecraft

Why would a Walker be Nyarlathotep?  Nyarlathotep is supposed to be the closest when it comes to being able to relate to humans.  Why wouldn't that be Drakul, who's trapped in a mortal form?

Cause he's more or less described as the position given a walker/knight/earthly avatar?
Check again the list of Nyarla's common forms, the tall joyous man exists in the DF...

No, no. Let me make this one perfectly clear, Gatekeeper is Nyarlahotep. He's the soul of the Outer Gods. Why? :-x

But that is futile because:

Mouse == Mab

Clearly the superior theory. Proof? Better alliteration.
All you seem to do here anymore Arjan is troll idea's you don't like...
*vehemently disagree, argue evidence to the contrary, ignore them, ect. Don't sit there and make tasteless jokes on people's idea's as a way to cut at them.

I vote for Valkyrie.
close, and I know why that's the most direct representation thought of, but other mythos in play make the archetype broader.

I didn't get that impression myself. To me it felt like My Shadow wanted her alive.

Which is quite possible far worse.
Being as I've failed to even get out of the house let alone acquire BC I must ask, Does she mean "My Shadow" like it's her personal thing or is this an entity already manifest elsewhere?

Except that there's already an actual three headed Cerberus hanging around.  Mab and Titania don't go around having lunch with Hecate for example.
No, your being literal while i'm looking at meta. There was also a WL already before Molly, whom also happened to change in style in direct unison with Molly's style(getting piercing's ect.), but the reason for that would be beyond the mundane world of literalness.

I don't think I ever compared or said Mouse is Cerberos.
Lol... I just realized that's reason why they stole not one but two of his siblings.(both doyalist and Watsonian) They represent the three heads of Cerberus together.

DF Spoilers / Re: Monster LLC: Goodman Grey a Venator?
« on: June 18, 2018, 03:25:24 AM »
To clarify, I don’t think he actually skips around in time, I think Jim meant that because he is old the POV in the story can jump around in time. There’s a distinct difference between those two things around both the DF and the denizens of this forum. Some posters take their time travel WAGs very seriously.
No, No. "he actually kinda enjoys it" was more or less what was said upon it. Look at the context of the conversation.

Grey can also skip around in time and has likely appeared as someone else in our DF history books i'd think.

I cringed a bit when reading that but I suppose he was badly informed. You have to dig into it a bit to break through the later layers of myth and propaganda to get to the horrible person he really was.
Mwhahaha AAAAHahahahaaha..... HA! That was his intention.
