Added!

I'm gonna add a possible 2 others... they want to attend the con, but I don't know if they'll be able to make it, so I'd rather slot them a space, then have those two available for a possible 'waiting list' if they don't make it.  If that's okay by you. =)

(( btw, 'cellie - you totally rock for pulling these things together *g* ))

Gail and I will be there!  Hook us up! (( yeah, list me as H2, or they won't know who I am *g* ))

I wish I could go, but with no job, I have no money, so I'll have to watch from afar.

However, I have a friend or two who will be there and live up closer to that area than I do, so I've pointed her in this direction.  Maybe she can help you out... or bee-bop along!  She's one of my 'Dresden-recruits'!  *g*

I just finished re-reading WN, and the only description of the beetle is that it is blue, red, yellow, and green.  I know one of the earlier books is more detailed (i.e. the color of the hood & the doors), and am searching for that info.  I haven't found it in SK, DM, BR, DB, or PG.  But now I am on a mission!!

I know this is from several pages back, but just wanted to point out that "The Blue Beetle"'s colors are a 'moving target'.  Remember, it started out 'blue', then the one door was replaced with a green one, the other a red, the hood, white, etc... but the poor Beetle has been beat up several times since then and has even had the entire interior replaced.

SF and FM references, as far as 'current' timeline is concerned are out-of-date.  Thus the question would have to be 'in SF, what colors were the Beetle's exterior panels?' or something.  Otherwise there will be something like 9 different 'correct' responses.

(( and if I'd kept reading, it was covered further... this'll teach me to read and reply when I'm unfocused ))

However:

ETA:

For starters, what are your standards on "Minor Characters"?  XD

Anyway, Rawlins' first appearance is in Dead Beat and I believe Stallings first appears in Grave Peril, not Fool Moon.  And Bianca first shows up in Storm Front.

Along with this - keep in mind Jim's definition of 'minor' character.  He doesn't tend to through characters into the story 'willie-nillie'.  There's almost 'no such thing' as a "minor character" in the Dresden-verse.  Just b/c they get a tiny mention in one book, doesn't mean they won't make an appearance again later.  Think: Butters, Elaine, Molly, etc...

Sorry to jump in on the bbq discussion ;), but I was wondering if there is a specific day that Jim is going to be at Madicon.

Btw, Virginia bbq is the best- tomato based is the way to go.

If he does that one like he does most others, he'll be there for all 3 days.  Of course, any and all of that could change at a moment's notice and 'things' happen.

Dreamland BBQ (I went to the one in Norcross, GA) has some of the best BBQ ever!  But, I was raised on that good NC bbq - based w/ the vinegar! :)

I remember reading in one of the books that one of Murph's Exs died of cancer and she was upset that he didn't tell her. Now I have to go look for that reference...... :-[

Craig

I think this is either GP or SK... I know it's fairly early.  (funny that 'book 4' is *early* when we're only on book 9)

Fred - there's a whole collection of awesome quotes on that hat Jim's got! :)

"Pot, kettle, black, Harry" is one of my all-time faves... ;)

Highlander: were you the person I saw who got SIX or SEVEN copies signed on Saturday?? If so, no wonder why the books sold out quickly.....  :P

Oh no.... not me - I would never do that *g*

Actually - only 1 was mine... 2 were for people who were originally going to go, but had conflicts, one was a gift for my hairdresser (b/c she puts up with my demand for longer-lasting hair color and fits me in at odd times) and the other two were bribed out of me ;)

And - I think they were running low on the books by the time *I* got there ;)

(( yes, I'm slow at checking this board... ))

It is official, we ( the Buzzy ladies @ Buzzy Multimedia ) will have copies of White Knight for sale in time for Stellar Con and I-Con. So for those of you who were going to either convention and were going to stop by and say hello to Jim Butcher, this us your chance to get the book hot off the presses AND get it autographed. For those who just don't do hardcovers and have been waiting for Proven Guilty to be out in soft cover, we will have those as well.

White Night in early March?  Okay, who is going, and what must I do to bribe them?

1) WOOOHOO!! "White Knight" at Stellar Con!

2) I'm going - what kind of bribes are you offering? :)

That's not a steadycam, that's just handheld. ;)
Which is often used for effect...but it's also cheaper, because steadycams cost more...not just the equipment, but the operators, plus there are rules about how long they can be used in a shoot (the gyroscopes and weight have fun with your back), so that affects shooting schedule.

ack - got my steady-cam and hand-held mixed up - either way - it was still too wobbly... effect is one thing, but when it looks like the camera's had a little too much to drink, it's not an effect anymore....

Reread Grave Peril last night, and I have a potential query for placing it in October; Harry's last conversation with Susan takes place with her in a bikini outdoors getting some sun on one of the last warm days of the year - is this plausible for early October on the shores of Lake Michigan, and if not, would moving it back into late September make a big difference ?

GP has to take place in October - there are several references to 'getting close to Halloween' - b/c that's when the barrier between the NeverNever and the mortal world is weakest... also, Susan sends Harry a birthday card - Harry's b'day is Halloween.  GP can't be moved to late-September.  And it is possible for it to be warm in Chicago in late fall - unusual, I'd think, but possible.

(( sorry for the double post... too many thoughts at different times ))

Something I noticed that's missing - references to Maggie being an 'associate of DuMorne' - I think McCoy tells Harry about it in BR - don't remember exactly where - but it would be in there sometime either before the Raith stuff or just after.

Also - McCoy worked with Maggie just like he did with Harry - and I *think* she left and hooked up with DuMorne (this stuff is either in BR or PG) - figuring out the 'when' is a little sketchier....

I'd like to know if the 'steady cam' gets more 'steady' in later episodes, b/c it was rather wobbly in these first two.  I understand a little bit of sway, unless more is intentional (ala Joss Whedon in "The Body" from BtVS), but this was like the cameraman was standing on the deck of a ship on less-than-calm water.  It was almost distracting.
